If you live in a holiday destination....

Inspired by the seaside thread. So many people are opting for U.K. based holidays this year, I don't think I realised how many have an annual abroad holiday until now!

If you live in a holiday destination (seaside, city or country) what would you want visitors to know?

I'll start with... disposable BBQs are dangerous if buried under the sand. They'll stay red hot and burn or cut some poor unsuspecting person's foot if trodden on. Pop them NEXT to the bins on the promenade and everyone else on top in a stack. They can go in the bins when cooled properly by the next morning.

Don’t underestimate the power of the sea. Wave dodging in bad weather is very dangerous

Bessiebigpants · 14/06/2021 20:26

I’m afraid you do have to reverse in country lanes I don’t give a toss that you don’t have to in the city if you can’t drive your massive tank do not bring it to the country! On that note you do also have to drive in hedges and yes it does scratch your car We drive tatty old wreaks for a reason!

LadyCatStark · 14/06/2021 20:28

Yes just take your rubbish home! And watch out for quicksand ( this might be specific to my area 🙈).

PacifyLulu · 14/06/2021 20:28

We consider early morning to be “our” time. Stay indoors til 10.30 please.

SamprasTheRabbit · 14/06/2021 20:29

@LadyCatStark Eek. At least we don't have that!

If you see a bear near the road don’t get out of the fucking car.

Endofether · 14/06/2021 20:29

Pour water on your bbq and take it home with you !

Gottalovesummer · 14/06/2021 20:31

You're all so rude

Do you ever visit other places? How would you feel if people told you what hours to keep or to fuck off?

Hellocatshome · 14/06/2021 20:31

Please take your crap home with you/put it in a bin. Also if you feed the cute lonely looking seagull a chip you will be mobbed by hundreds of them and they will steal your food right out of your hand! Please do not expect the chip shop to replace it they are not responsible for the thieving wildlife.

bookh · 14/06/2021 20:32

Don't park in a passing place and head off hillwalking.

Don't hill walk in flip flops, without sun cream, water, food, or a map.

Don't camp in a field of cows.

Take litter home.

Don't leave broken glass all over the place.

Don't poo in the countryside and leave it lying.

ArtfulScreamer · 14/06/2021 20:33

Just because you've decided to do a twenty odd mile walk up hill and down Dale I don't need to hear you yawping with your mates as you park up outside my house at first light because you're to tight to pay the few quid for the car park that contributes to the maintenance of the pathways you're about to use Angry and as above take your rubbish home or use one of the many bins in the village!

Cumbria?

I could have written all of those Wink

purrswhileheeats · 14/06/2021 20:33

Please don't walk around with your upper body exposed! Fat British men abroad - just NO!

HeddaGarbled · 14/06/2021 20:34

Just fuck off

That although there are some greedy, selfish, parochial locals who feel like this, there are also some of us who are very very happy to see you back and hope you have a lovely holiday.

SamprasTheRabbit · 14/06/2021 20:34

@bookh I'd agree with you about the broken glass... but ours is definitely caused by our local teenagers Angry Spent bloody ages cleaning it off the prom last week.

Yes we have to have a hovercraft for quicksand related problems!

Of course we visit other places. And when I do I go out super early (I don’t litter or poo outside though....) 🤣
Numnumcookie · 14/06/2021 20:35

Don't swim near/under the pier!

Take your rubbish home.

Put a shirt on when you go in the shops/restaurants.

Pay attention to the one-way system.

LadyCatStark · 14/06/2021 20:35

I mean the RNLI not us personally 😂

PurpleRainDancer · 14/06/2021 20:36

@Littleelffriend

Just fuck off
This absolutely
allthegoodusernameshavegone · 14/06/2021 20:36

Don’t assume that the area is solely a holiday destination, other people live & work here and walking/cycling your entire family in the middle of the road is really stupid and the nasty smelly tractor didn’t just come along to annoy you. Oh and as others have said take your bloody rubbish home.

Unescorted · 14/06/2021 20:37

If you are driving slowly around the corners in a large car please don't put your foot down when you reach the only overtaking place for miles only to go back to 20 mph under the speed limit when the next corner turns up.

Take your rubbish away & don't throw it out of the window as you leave the village.

Don't use disposable BBQ on the moors.

Close the gates & keep your dog on a lead.

I love that people come to my hometown and enjoy it, it makes me feel very lucky to have been born here. Visitors welcome with open arms (as long as they don't leave BBQs on the beach Grin)
