Wallah! It's the first time I've seen voilà written this way. But when I think about it, it seems like a really obvious thing to do so I wonder how common it is.
Is it a "thing" that I've just missed before now?

"Close the boarders it's discusting" was one I saw recently.

BreakingtheIce · 14/06/2021 18:56

@Ruthietuthie

Last week there was a Mumsnet thread where someone was described as being rather "non-shallot." The thread rather sad in its content, and probably not the place for a grammar jump-on but it made me laugh. It will be non-shallot for ever from now on.
🤣
geezahoose · 14/06/2021 18:56

@Bluntness100

I have to be honest.

When people write “draws” instead of drawers it always surprises me. I understand many people are sadly functionally Illiterate, but when posting on a forum it’s clear you have a very basic grasp of being able to read and write. How people get to adult hood, have their own homes and don’t know it’s a drawer and not a draw always surprises me.

It's that pesky non-rhotic 'r'. You'd never see someone with a Scottish accent, for example, making that sort of mistake (but probably other mistakes!)
geezahoose · 14/06/2021 18:58

@BanTheMLMScam

I saw a post that read "You're such a hypocrit, it's like the popcorn kettle black"

Took me a while to work it out but it's my new favourite saying now 🤣

Someone needs so explain this to me!

@regthetabbycat

Our local seaside estate agent is advertising a flat with see vues on a garden board.
Or garden bored?
QuestionableMouse · 14/06/2021 19:00

@geezahoose it should be "the pot calling the kettle black."

Nicolastuffedone · 14/06/2021 19:01

Yes, non shallot made me laugh. It sounded like a Jewish greeting ‘Mazel tov!’ ‘Non shallot!’

geezahoose · 14/06/2021 19:03
@geezahoose it should be "the pot calling the kettle black."
I've never heard that saying so maybe that's why I couldn't get it Grin

Is amazing how many people think being able to spell matters more than having the good manners not to criticise other people's errors.

I really hate these threads.

I used to go to Anti Natal classes. Everyone was at least 6 months pregnant. We were all pro-pregnancy by that point.

My seller on my local FB page had a "chez lang" for sale recently.

Slub · 14/06/2021 19:08

I did read the "non shallot" thread and had to sit on my hands.
I do have a cat called Charlotte and call her "that's shallot " routinely though Grin

Lairymary · 14/06/2021 19:09

This one made me chuckle, it was on a local FB community page.

A relative was giving a party and I texted asking could I bring a contribution to the buffet. She replied with "no I have it all covered. Just making some vollyvonts then its all done"

They tasted lovely too!

MagicSummer · 14/06/2021 19:10

It is important that we keep our language clear and pure - grammar and spelling mistakes are abhorent.

Not a spelling mistake, a missing word, One bed near the sea, £500 a month.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/06/2021 19:20

I refuse to believe its bad spelling, I think some people use auto correct and fail to check which imho is a cardinal sin 😂

@SimonJT

Wallah is a word, it means I promise or I swear to god, but a lot of people use it to mean an expression of joy, something really good etc. It also sounds more like voilà than voilà does.
I know it's a real word. It makes the whole thing even funnier!
