Help! Lump on vulva can't walk!

poorfanjo · 12/06/2021 12:17

Yes I've name changed. My Fanjo is on fire. I have a £2 coin size lump on the outer lip but on the inside and it's near the top. I've had a look and it's so angry, it has a massive head on it, I can't walk or sit down without nearly crying.

Do I have a hot bath and get a sterile needle from my work kit and pop it? (Nurse) or will I likely pass out from the pain? I've never experienced anything like this before! It's so sore.

Fucking typical isn't it? First date night in over a year and I get a fanny abscess. Hmm

I'd go to minor injuries or out of hours. It needs looking at

Weenurse · 12/06/2021 12:18

Hot bath and good luck

GiveMeTheStrength · 12/06/2021 12:19

I've had one of those before and can feel your pain! Definitely pop it it'll relieve a lot of the pain

Could it be an infected bartholins cyst?

Second the warm bath and out of hours GP!

northernlightsea · 12/06/2021 12:20

Phone 111! It’s probably a Bartholins abscess and it needs seen and sorted properly today. Bad timing though!

Notavegan · 12/06/2021 12:20

But you are a nurse so probably know more than me.

poorfanjo · 12/06/2021 12:22

It's just so bloody sore. I'm going to have a bath and see if I can encourage it to go on its own, if not then ooh are going to have to look at it Envy

I have no idea if it actually works, but my gran always swore by a bread and milk poltice for spots, abscesses and ingrown hairs!

dancemom · 12/06/2021 12:35

Pop it, 2 seconds of immense pain but then immense relief once it can empty

SpamIAm · 12/06/2021 12:42

I'd give a hot compress a go but you're probably going to have to get it looked at.

EishetChayil · 12/06/2021 13:18

If it has a head on it, pop that mofo.

CorvusPurpureus · 12/06/2021 13:23

I'd definitely try a hot bath then gently piercing the head with a sterile needle, but I'm NOT a nurse so you probably shouldn't listen to me...ouch though.

Eve · 12/06/2021 13:23

You need to be in sporners corner ( they will ask for a photo though Grin )

nellyburt · 12/06/2021 13:25

How did the bath go? Once popped the pain should hopefully subside.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 12/06/2021 13:27

I’m genuinely excited for the relief you will have after popping it. Get in the bath and let us know how it goes! I’ve had lots of fanny boils and have never seen a GP, once they have popped they tend to settle.

OrlandointheWilderness · 12/06/2021 13:27

I'm oddly invested in this!!

Bluntness100 · 12/06/2021 13:29

Pop it, is it kinda purple? I get these every now and again, although not quite in that location, but near, just sterilise a pin, pop it and squeeze the gunk out, it’s bastard sore. But when done it’s immediate relief and fine,

Seeleyboo · 12/06/2021 13:31

Why do I want a video of this popping

Smolgoose · 12/06/2021 13:32

I would suggest minor injuries, but that would be hypocritical as I know I'd have a go at it myself if it was me!

I'm all seriousness though, they might want to give you antibiotics so it probably would be best to seek medical attention

Yellowbrickrobe · 12/06/2021 13:35

You don’t need ooh or minor injuries. Hot bath, needle, pop it. If it’s got a head on it will pop easily. If it’s starts to look infected THEN you need to get some antibiotics but not until that point.

Pewpew · 12/06/2021 13:37

I’m so sorry, I want a video.Wink I would pop it, if it was me!

OhDearShirley · 12/06/2021 13:38

If its got a head on it minor injuries will most likely try and drain it. If you can't face a needle how about some magnesium sulphate paste (from chemist?) Agree hot bath too.
Um I appreciate photos are unlikely, but if you could describe it in detail when it pops that'd be great (klaxon!)

helpmechoosewheretolive · 12/06/2021 13:38

I'd pop, in the bath. Will be agony as you do it and then absolute immediate relief when done. I get these too, and always deal with myself; my friend had an infected bartholins and it took 7 days in hospital before they drained it, as emergencies kept coming in.

paniniswapx3 · 12/06/2021 13:42

Hope you get sorted Op.

ZoBo123 · 12/06/2021 13:43

It sounds like bartholins cyst. I had one once when pregnant. Hot bath plus Epsom salts and will pop. I took antibiotics too but they didn't shift it repeated baths did. I think I bathed 3 times a day for a couple of days
