Help! Lump on vulva can't walk!

poorfanjo · 12/06/2021 12:17

Yes I've name changed. My Fanjo is on fire. I have a £2 coin size lump on the outer lip but on the inside and it's near the top. I've had a look and it's so angry, it has a massive head on it, I can't walk or sit down without nearly crying.

Do I have a hot bath and get a sterile needle from my work kit and pop it? (Nurse) or will I likely pass out from the pain? I've never experienced anything like this before! It's so sore.

Fucking typical isn't it? First date night in over a year and I get a fanny abscess. Hmm

Wipe pin with antibacterial wipes. Run flame along it and stab!! I’ve had to resort to self help with this a few times. One right in the crease of my leg. That fecker was the size of a ping pong ball. And I couldn’t walk. Sorted it out straight away. The immediate relief and normalcy was amazing. You’re a nurse. Sort it out!!

Magnesium sulfate paste from the pharmacy...it helps draw boils out, so I should image would work on this.

I have had an ingrown hair on my underneath a couple of times, only a bump the size of a pea, but that hurt enough (yes, I stabbed it and squeezed, then nearly passed out from the pain!!..this was before I knew about the MS paste)
But the fact you say the size of a £2 coin makes my eyes water!!

Good luck!!

Well done, that must be a relief. Keep it clean, it’ll probably need to drain some more for the next few days. A dressing on top, ideally with something like inadine, as a primary dressing if you’ve got it, to help draw out any more crud. Any signs of infection, get yourself some antibiotics.

@Eve

You need to be in sporners corner ( they will ask for a photo though Grin )

No, even we don’t want to see anyone’s fanjolica. 😁
Feel your pain though, been there many times.

Oh thank goodness it popped you’ll be so relieved. I get small ones regularly, fuck knows why, and it’s such a relief when they pop.

I have had this. I had to phone in sick to work as I could not walk. Yes the relief when it popped! Just keep it clean and it will be fine.

Amazed at those recommending minor injuries or OOH. This is the kind of thing you can deal with at home. As long as you keep an eye on it for infection which may need antibiotics. The medical staff won't do anything else except pop it.

Oh god I feel your pain. I had one the other week and couldn’t walk straight. The relief when it popped was immense 😂😂. Hot bath and be careful what you put on it . Stings like a bitch.

Yes, please take care to keep it clean over the next few days, so that it doesn't get infected.

Agree with picking up a pot of magnesium sulfate paste ... stuff was miraculous for my DH's infected finger.

I wouldnt pop it, I also work in the medical field and attemped to pop a sebaceous cyst on myself where my bra strap was with a sterile needle.

It failed and nothing drained but by opening up a little hole it allowed in a skin infection where it became red, angry and 5x the size. Cue a week of antibiotics, my DH sexily having to squeeze it to drain and the fun solidified 'horn' of puss that eventually ruptured out of my back.

the infections gone now but its left a 'hole/large divet' in back thats still there years later and likely wont ever go away.

Not a risk I would like to take in my lady garden.

Ok so after quite a while of relief it's fucking refilled!!! I'm already on clarithromicin, doxycycline and metronidazole for retained products of conception that happened after my miscarriage at 17 weeks. why is this utter bullshit happening? It hurts a lot again. I might just go to ooh tomorrow, I asked 111 for advice and my ooh gp asked for a photo of my clam packet which I declined to send I just described it.

I went on my date night and we had a lovely chat about whether to try again, so it was a nice night but now im in the bath which is extremely hot and struggling with this stupid spot/ abscess. It now has a purple head can I pop it again? I'm a district nurse but I specialise in end of life care for children so this is so out of my comfort zone it's unreal.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage OP.

I’d be inclined to have a go with a warm compress but that’s only because I’m a wuss and couldn’t handle the needle.

Oh no Op, that's terrible! No advice really other than hot bath and see how you get on! sorry!

FATEdestiny · 13/06/2021 00:19

I would if it was on me. I'm not medically trained though.

Purple head after a yellow head usually me and it's filled with blood. Should be easy to pop because the weak area where it ruptured earlier will still be there.

Report
poorfanjo · 13/06/2021 00:23

@FATEdestiny that is a good point. I'm not going to lie I wish I could have a big gin medicinal purposes but I can't because of the metronidazole SadI'm just so sick of this. It's like my immune system has gone on holiday for a month! I got mastitis after the miscarriage because my boobs were already producing milk which honestly feels like such a fuck you.

Do you have any witch hazel? That will help it pop. Stick some on some wadded loo paper and be prepared for it to sting a bit.

Torvean · 13/06/2021 03:53

You'll need to go to OOH or whatever local facility to get that drained. Sometimes an ice pack held in the area can help the pain. The sooner you get it done the better. But you'll be walking like a cowboy for a day.

Unlikely to be a bartholins cyst if on the labia majora, as the bartholins glands aren’t situated there.

Could be an ingrown hair or infected follicle.

Ideal situation is to apply a hot flannel to try and encourage drawing. However I wouldn’t hesitate in getting seen at out of hours or an urgent care centre as it could do with swabbing. If you’ve any spreading cellulitis then definitely get seen for abx.

I had an abscess and went to walk in clinic who said to go straight to A&E. i said to the doctor I was sorry having to there, but he assured me I was right to go to make sure they got all the infection/puss out. He also asked if 2 training doctors could watch, for training, so I didn’t feel as bad wasting time. They also gave me 2 different lots of antibiotics to take after.

Ooh ouch sounds horribly painful.

I’m shocked your GP asked for a photo, I had a nipple issue and the GP said they aren’t allowed photos of those areas!

I hope you’ve got some sleep and it’s less painful today
