Sussexes and bullying campaign

Hi everyone !

Does anyone find the constant bullying of the Sussexes to affect their mental health ?

I find the mainstream misogyny to be a reflection of how society really does view women as a whole and how othering it is of people of other cultures.

I think baby Lilibet would be very sad to know the world received her with such strong opinions against her naming. It’s really sad that the world so full of hate doesn’t provide a nice place for kids to grow confidently.

I feel like if this happens in a powerful royal family, what’s there to hope in your average family!

Btw I have in law issues and I find the attitudes towards the sussexes triggering and upsetting

@Northernlurker

All they had to do was call her Lily Elizabeth Diana. And nothing would said except for how nice. But instead they went a bit overboard and used a very personal nickname. It's not like it was a common version of her name that she used like Liz or Betty. It did invite comment.
All people had to say was how nice to any name given to a 3 day old baby and move on. Not bully the parents for having the temerity to name a child which is their prerogative.
ohforarainyday · 11/06/2021 11:00

Again: name one single bad word they have said about the Queen?

These things are simply lies. It's awful that people can post outright lies like "they've said awful things about the Queen" when they've never said a single word about the Queen that is not positive.

C130 · 11/06/2021 11:01

Some people are just using the babies name as another stick to beat them with.

ohforarainyday · 11/06/2021 11:01

Harry has said that her parenting caused genetic pain, he has repeatedly slagged off the organisation she has run for 70 years, and now is suggesting that she's lying about giving permission for the name.

What do you gain from making up these lies?

ohforarainyday · 11/06/2021 11:02

Charles is the one who slagged off the Queen's parenting, FYI.

You obviously didn't see my post from earlier so here it is again:

Where's the lie?

Harry said that Charles was a crap parent because his parents caused him genetic pain. I think that it's pretty bad to blame your father

Harry said about Charles's parenting:

I also know that is connected to his parents so that means he's treated me the way he was treated

This is a criticism of the parenting of the Queen and Prince Philip.

Theoldcuriosityshop · 11/06/2021 11:08

Liz Cundy has apparently said that Meghan named the baby after her, as Lilibet was her nickname as a child.
Meghan hasn't spoken to her for about 3 years so I very much doubt thatHmm

Fuckingcrustybread · 11/06/2021 11:08

Posted too soon. I think that it's pretty bad to blame your grandparents for your own father's parenting.
Also as the Queen is the head of the family he has been enormously disrespectful towards her.

C130 · 11/06/2021 11:08

Harry never said his dad was a "crap parent".

Viviennemary · 11/06/2021 11:10

Its quite bullying/manipulative to make serious accusations against a member of your family on international TV. Then refuse to say who it was. So everyone is under suspicion. Except HM the Queen. Quite nasty really. I'd feel bullied and threatened if I was a member of that family.

how dare they call out racism.
Gorgeouslilgirl · 11/06/2021 11:13

Honestly, people who go on about this are bonkers.

Can you name your child after family ONLY if you never criticise them directly or indirectly?!

lemmein · 11/06/2021 11:14

I find it fascinating how invested people are in this - and actually mindblowing that people still support having a RF in 2021.

A few days ago the Good Law Project won their case against the government - top trending story everywhere was about how mean Meghan was for using the Queens nickname 🙄

I suppose they serve their purpose.

This with bells on

Interesting that they chose the most easily trademarked of the possible permutations.
I wonder how long before this company has a change of name.

I would be more concerned about what was said to them about their child.
Twinkie01 · 11/06/2021 11:17

Of they choose to play out their lives to the public they are going to get reactions which they won't like. If they don't go around trying to garner sympathy and publicity there would be no negativity or very much less than they have encountered.

It really doesn't affect anyone but themselves and the RF. I can't understand why it would affect anyone else's mental health.

Please post a link where Harry used the words "crap parent."

Please post a link to where the Queen personally had said "I did not give permission for them to use that baby name", or a link to Harry saying "The Queen is lying." That's a huge misrepresentation of the facts, which is that an anonymous "palace source" went to the press. Harry accused the "anonymous palace source" of lying. Is there some reason you're pretending that saying "the anonymous person claiming to be a palace source is lying" = "saying the Queen is lying"?

he has repeatedly slagged off the organisation she has run for 70 years
Critiquing the RF is not the same as "attacking the Queen." By that standard you could say the people who slag off the Queen's grandson non-stop are "attacking the Queen."

Besides he has not "slagged off" the RF. He discussed his own personal experience in witnessing racism, and his own personal experience in disliking the toxic relationship between the RF and the press. Plenty of other royals have slagged off the RF in a far worse way, that includes Charles slagging off the Queen directly.

I think that it's pretty bad to blame your grandparents for your own father's parenting.
Harry was simply repeating Charles' own complaints about the way he was parented.

Gorgeouslilgirl · 11/06/2021 11:22

I can see why it impacts our mental health, and can’t even imagine the impact on the couple!

When I hear PM say that women like Meghan and Naomi are drama queens and attention seeking about their mental health...yeah it bothers me. It is hate speech and bullying. Sadly you see it on MN too

RickiTarr · 11/06/2021 11:23

What she said was completely accurate (and BTW notice she said “Harry” not “they”, he has been the one driving this). You are the one who has it all wrong @ohforarainyday -

Bovrilly · 11/06/2021 11:23

Bizarre. Of course if you criticise the institution of the RF you are criticising the Queen, she's been in charge of it for 70 years!

By contrast, the Queen is not responsible for her grandson's behaviour.
