What's your resting heart rate?

Mine is 49. Am I dead?

Can you tell that I've got a jazzy new watch which measures all the things?

According to Apple Watch data mine is 54 average but regularly drops as low as 40. I'm 39 and reasonably but not especially fit. I always wonder if there's something wrong with me because that seems really low but I seem to be ok!

IGetOver · 08/06/2021 21:38

@NeverDropYourMoonCup

Between 68 and 74. I'm 48, fat as fuck, a smoker and in a stressful job.

It was around 52 and 65 last year before I had Covid and 105-127 for about 3 months afterwards with a whole load of random thumping from doing something as strenuous as sitting on the sofa.

Blood pressure is still 120/65 in the doctors or hospital, though. Although that may not be a good thing, as I tend to flump down on the floor if I get up too quickly, it's hot or I haven't eaten anything salty that day. A packet of pretzelsand a drink stops that most times.

My VO2 max is pretty shit, however.

Just wait until you get into heartbeat variability, sleep quality and suchlike. It's a fascinating rabbit hole to fall down.

My VO2 max is shocking, according to my Apple Watch it’s 20, up from 18 in the past few months, I’m 34!

According to my Garmin watch, my 7 day resting heart rate is 42.

It's always been low and has even been in the high 30s when I was marathon training. I've been sporty since a child. At school, I was in the county netball and running team and even recently, I made the county team running against 20 year olds (I'm 50 now).

Mysterian · 08/06/2021 21:44

When sleeping 70. With Long Covid it's been purring away at 100 when sitting down doing nowt. Bit lower now.

VettiyaIruken · 08/06/2021 21:48

Normally 70s - 80s

FoxBaseBeta · 08/06/2021 21:52

In my early forties and 49 is my average according to my Garmin, I have low blood pressure too. I'm not particularly fit but do run now and then and walk absolutely everywhere.

WeMarchOn · 08/06/2021 21:54

Around about 100 😳

theneverendinglaundry · 08/06/2021 21:59

When I was running it was around 55 but now it's currently 61. I dont do any structured exercise but do a lot of walking and dont sit still for long.

Sheldock · 08/06/2021 22:00

According to my Garmin watch thing, resting is 39-42 for me. I am very sport specific fit though plus I think it's also hereditary as my parents also have low resting and low blood pressure.

dorangme · 08/06/2021 22:01

This is MNs so my is 20. I'm very fit.

4bluebabies · 08/06/2021 22:01

52- run a couple of times a week a bit sporadically - nearly 50

Shopgirl1 · 08/06/2021 22:16
  1. I’m 44 and fitter than average I suppose, but not super fit - I run 35km a week and am pretty active on non running days.
853ax · 08/06/2021 22:21

Usually between 48 and 50 from Fitbit
I'm reasonably activity, early 40s, 73kg
Didn't realise heart rate & blood pressure related until this thread but I would tend to have low BP
Nurse has often commented on low HR when
getting check ups she would comment that I must be fit.

OverByYer · 08/06/2021 22:21

Usually between 46-56. I’m nearly 50, run 3 times a week.
I have low BP though and often feel faint

ChloeCrocodile · 08/06/2021 22:22
  1. I'm mid 30s, unfit so I think mine is low due to genetics. My dad, brother and sister all have very low resting heart rates. No family history of heart problems on either side.
FairyDusting · 08/06/2021 22:24

I have a heart condition so it’s all over the place but I’m on meds to try to control it. Sometimes very low, sometimes very high. I’m sat on the sofa currently and it’s 113.

FairyDusting · 08/06/2021 22:27

Also I’m going mid twenties and physically very fit but sometimes a crazy heart rate does stop me doing stuff. I felt a bit funny earlier when I was on the toilet and I checked and it was 168. I also felt funny when eating breakfast and it was 32. So all over the place really Grin

plowlom · 08/06/2021 22:28

75 (so well within the normal range!)

FrDamo · 08/06/2021 22:29

Varies but I estimate 59-63 average over the last few years (Fitbit). Improves with renewed efforts at exercise, worsens with alcohol consumption (of which there has been considerably more the last 12+months). Tends to drop very low around 5-7am. Often 52-56 range.Age 50, overweight category.

Amazed at all the super fit types on here with 40+/-

Undersnatch · 08/06/2021 22:29

Mine is low fifties and I’m not that fit. Low blood pressure runs in my family.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 08/06/2021 22:31

68

Alwaysconfuddled · 08/06/2021 22:33

38 Drs have said it’s fine and it’s just me, it is amusing in hospital when they check it and go to get another machine to check it with. I do warn them that’s normal for me but they don’t believe me

gamerchick · 08/06/2021 22:38

Usually low 60s but occasionally it goes down into the low 40s and I feel absolutely dreadful. End up jogging on the spot to make the feeling go away.

When I had my gallbladder out the dude doing the anesthesia asked me if I was a into doing hill running or something because of my heart rate. Then it kept setting the machines off.

Exercising is fine, blood pressure is fine so assume it's just one of those things.

Laufeythejust · 08/06/2021 22:38

Mines 59 on average now. I’ve lost 3 stone and got a lot fitter in the last year and it’s blown my mind the effect it’s had on my resting heart rate. It was 74 this time last year.

Zeev · 08/06/2021 22:38
