Favourite UK seaside town?

Looking for somewhere to go for a nice UK seaside break with my partner and our 7 month old baby.

Ideally would like a nice beach to walk along and for our 7 month old to play on.
A few shops, cafes, fish and chips and ice cream nearby etc. Not really bothered about nightlife and clubs etc.

What’s your suggestions? Thanks everyone!! Grin

IggyAce · 06/06/2021 15:25

Saltburn
Bamburgh
Sandhaven

I really like Scarborough when you walk from town to the Sealife centre, it's a lovely long walk.

Southwold and Cromer

Where are you? I'd say the coastline from Whitley Bay down to Tynemouth.

North Yorkshire coast particularly Filey.

RickiTarr · 06/06/2021 15:32

Robin Hood Bay?
Southwold is also gorgeous but long drives are not great fun with babies.

MeadowHay · 06/06/2021 15:33

We took a day trip to New Brighton (Wirral) the other day with our toddler and it was great, we all had a lovely time.

Daisy829 · 06/06/2021 15:39

Agree with @IggyAce
Currently on hols in Northumberland & it’s stunning. Lots of lovely beaches.
Whitby and the surrounding area is amazing too.

VienneseWhirligig · 06/06/2021 15:42

My favourites are Croyde and Southwold, but both are quite far from you. Whitby is nice, haven't been anywhere else in that part of the UK though.

If you want a beautiful beach with endess golden sands, go to Lowestoft South Beach. Well maintained, plenty of space and RNLI lifeguarded. The town itself doesn't have much to recommend it and is a bit run down but there are loads of lovely towns (and beaches) nearby in south and east Norfolk and north Suffolk.

VikingsandDragons · 06/06/2021 15:43

Also in with @IggyAce on Bamburgh which is my favourite place to the point I have a painting opposite my bed of that beach so I can wake up to it every day, Saltburn is great too. I don't know sandhaven though

danadas · 06/06/2021 15:44

Anglesey would be my pick.

OverByYer · 06/06/2021 15:45

Tenby

CarrieBlue · 06/06/2021 15:52

Filey

oldmeoldlife · 06/06/2021 15:59

100% Filey

The bay is stunning, there is a beautiful walk Filey to Bempton

The town itself is stuck in a time warp, all the shops, cafes, takeaways are all independent, its tiny and basically consists of 2 streets and it isn't expensive to visit at all. Although very, very popular it shouldn't get as overcrowded as say Robin Hoods Bay.

It is worth visiting Scarborough, Sandsend, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes if you're up this way though.

Sandsend is really lovely. Staithes is beautiful but not much of a beach.

ImitationofBeing · 06/06/2021 16:01
