Favourite UK seaside town?

Looking for somewhere to go for a nice UK seaside break with my partner and our 7 month old baby.

Ideally would like a nice beach to walk along and for our 7 month old to play on.
A few shops, cafes, fish and chips and ice cream nearby etc. Not really bothered about nightlife and clubs etc.

What’s your suggestions? Thanks everyone!! Grin

@Freddiesmyboy

Llandudno in north Wales has a lovely old fashioned charm

@FreddieLounds I think you had to be there at the right time. A minibus of tipsy women vs what seemed to be some local lads having what was for them, a good time I suspect. But to an outside observer it was more a live sex show up against a railing. Coupled with a group of lads on bikes spitting over a railing onto the heads of a family and a minor scuffle outside the amusements, it was just an inopportune moment to wander through Whitby I suppose.

I did really like the nostalgia of the pie shop, my first experience of a fatty and a mooch round some of the independent shops. I met a very nice woman who loathed your local council and gave me an itemised list of their failings including charging for the public toilet. And we also saw Captain America on a motorbike outside the train station but I don't think he's a permanent fixture... Loved the architecture and landscape too.

Goodness! That's more action than I've seen in Whitby in the past 10 years! Shock

The North Norfolk coast... I particularly like Sheringham, we were there last week...but forgot that almost everywhere stops serving food at 8.

Whitby. It's become our family seaside plane and we love it. So much to do in that area, and the town itself is lovely.

In astounded at the OP's experience. I've never seen the slightest bit of trouble there. It's a place for families and the older generation.

I really like Teignmouth and Exmouth in Devon.

Currently on holiday in the area and found Whitby to be an absolutely shithole! I simply cannot fathom the love it gets on here. Horribly busy, tacky, grubby. Parked for four hours, worrying it wouldn't be long enough, and we were back in the car within two hours.

@willstarttomorrow

I have a soft spot for Withernsea. No one really rates it, it is on its uppers. However when the sun comes out the whole world heads to Scarborough, Whitby and Filey and sit in a traffic jam. For us just M62 and keep going. Amazing beach, crappy little seaside town with arcade entertainments. We discovered it one feb half term as we found somewhere cheap to stay 4 miles inland. It is our special place.
Hi, I know this was a while ago but which village inland were you staying in?

I ask just cos my Mum' runs a B&B in Welwick! (I grew up in the area, too.... shan't comment on Withernsea...)
