Are their queues everywhere or is it pleasantly quite quiet?

It’s strange here (Cornwall), the beach is quiet but the roads are rammed, restaurants all booked up, streets are busy.
I just expected the beach to be much busier considering the amount of people that are around!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 02/06/2021 07:45

Somerset around cheddar gorge and Glastonbury has been very busy. Almost like a normal non pandemic summer.
Friends in Devon have said it’s been horrendously packed. I think they are in/near woolacombe.

4vrBubbles · 02/06/2021 07:49

Isle of Wight, not packed at all. Beaches busy but people spread out, walking trails - a few people. Some touristy areas eg Needles very busy but not claustrophobically so, just normal tourist busy.

Chillychili · 02/06/2021 07:52

I left Cornwall to come to Dorset (north Dorset quiet village) its quiet. No tourists, people can drive, it’s heaven.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/06/2021 07:55

Quiet but we are in the middle of nowhere in Scotland so it's as you would expect. I'm not sure what you mean by queues, do you mean for shops, toilets or more for theme park rides?

Rammington

I live in NE Wales and the A55 was like a car park all weekend.

We went to the woods, which has been really busy all throughout lockdown, and it was really quiet. I think people are done to death with the great outdoors, so if you like that kind of stuff (like we do!) you will be fine!

RickOShay · 02/06/2021 08:17

Gridlock on the north norfolk coast.
Never seen that before. Heaving.

Chosennone · 02/06/2021 08:24

Went to North Wales over the weekend. Busiest I've ever seen it. Had more booked all meals, would've been stuck without it. Queues for ice cream, local attractions were huge!

Butwhhhyyyyyyy · 02/06/2021 08:31

Me too @Cadburycup, I don't know how such a straight road has so may accidents either. We have been out walking mostly but staying away from the popular walking areas as they are mad busy.

You'd have thought people would be more sensible now that we're in the Third Wave.

At least they'll have some nice memories to see them through the next lockdown.

scully29 · 02/06/2021 08:40

We live in Cornwall and its completely rammed. Completely.

evespudding · 02/06/2021 08:44

Pembrokeshire very busy, particularly traffic. Hard to park, queues for ice cream, restaurants fully booked. Walk out to the coastal path is very peaceful though.

😂 third wave? Don't you think the vaccine works?
NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 08:46

It works. But not well enough to stop the Indian Variant.

Gertie75 · 02/06/2021 08:47

Mid Wales, extremely quiet, we've got a seasonal caravan on a site that also takes touring caravans and has statics lodges, I thought it would be packed but there is only us and two other couples at their seasonals, a handful of tourers and not many at their statics.

It's great having this lovely weather and peace and quiet.

MrsXx4 · 02/06/2021 08:56

Bournemouth was rammed when we left. No school age children so we holidayed early and got home Sunday to miss the crowds! No space on the beach when we left!

Fountainsoftea · 02/06/2021 08:58

Another ne Wales here. A55 has been nuts for days, so we've not been able to go anywhere. People drive like utter arseholes on the 55, hence the accidents. They also really struggle to drive up the hill to Pentre halkyn, but then, that's been the case for my whole life.

Walked to our local woods the other day and it was also rammed. It should be nice to see the place busy, but apart from dropping shit everywhere: falling over and necessitating the rescue helicopter; and eroding the remains of a 1000 year old castle, I'm not sure what our visitors bring.

CirqueDeMorgue · 02/06/2021 08:59

Busy but not impossible to do stuff.

lilroo87 · 02/06/2021 09:00

I live in Cornwall and it's a nightmare trying to get anywhere.
Luckily I work from home but it takes my partner ages to get home from work.
At weekend we just stayed home as it was too busy to try and go anywhere. Usually if we want to visit a beach then we go either really early or late.
Dreading the traffic in July/August as it's an hour on a good day to the hospital and I'm due to give birth so could be interesting Grin

JocastaNu · 02/06/2021 09:03

I live in Cumbria and camped in another part of Cumbria over the weekend. It was madness. At one point the police asked people not to visit the area and I had to help redirect traffic when the valley became gridlocked.

I have never, ever know it to be this busy. And I wasn't even anywhere near Windermere, which is where the tourists usually flock to.

AliMonkey · 02/06/2021 09:05

We are on holiday in Kent. Was busy but not completely rammed at the weekend, now plenty of quiet spots as long as you avoid the most touristy places such as Canterbury (and even that was busy rather than lengthy queues).

We're going away today. We live a couple of hours from the coast and have been working throughout the year. We'll be staying in an air b n b, and going out for a few meals and hopefully to the beach.
If theres going to be a another lockdown, I'd rather take DC away now , than sit indoors and wait to be told to stay indoors for longer!
