What do you your family have at McDonalds?

Please note - I know lots of MN would never dream of feeding their kids McDonalds, but we do, occasionally!

Half term is coming up and DD wants a happy meal for the Pokémon cards (and the nuggets!). She's 8, and last time we went it felt like the happy meal wasn't really enough food. She is, granted, a very, VERY tall girl (in size 11-12 😭).

What do your 8 year olds eat there? And just cos I'm nosey, what do you have?

@startrek90 I like to order using the machine so I’m not embarrassed, but yes - one nice lady packaged up the bun and sauce separately in case we changed our minds!
Happy you got the reference Wink

We've all had a Maccie D's breakfast this morning.
Sausage and Egg muffins - Dh and I
Bacon and Egg muffins - kids
😋
I always have a quarter pounder with cheese meal, kids have happy meals.

PivotPivotPivottt · 28/05/2021 13:21

I think this is the first time I've ever read a McDonald's thread that hasn't had anyone preach about how unhealthy/disgusting it is Grin

I have a quarter pounder meal or a big mac meal.

4 year old has a chicken nugget happy meal.

9 year old usually has either a cheeseburger happy meal, a 6 chicken nuggets meal, a double cheeseburger on its own or a 20 nuggets share box depending how hungry she is.

I love when she chooses the 20 nuggets because it means I get some too.

amusedbush · 28/05/2021 13:43

99p mayo chicken burger
Medium fries with sour cream dip
Mozzarella sticks

I tried getting a medium mcchicken sandwich meal with mozzarella sticks but it was too much, so I downsized the burger Grin

@IHaveBrilloHair

Why is it necessary to say anything about the size of the children, or actually the adults ordering? Can't people enjoy a meal without having to justify it?
Because in the main, a happy meal is a perfect size for an 8 year old? And if you don’t you get everyone saying “hmmm carrot sticks if you must coz she’s 8”.

DS (8) has now upgraded from a happy meal to a chicken nugget meal.

DS (3) chicken nugget happy meal - just wants the toy really! Was most upset when presented with the Pokemon cards recently!

DH chicken select meal or quarter pounder with cheese meal with a Sprite Zero (will always go large if they ask but won't suggest it himself Grin) He likes the big tasty when they do that too

Me - chicken selects meal with a Diet Coke. I always think I want a quarter pounder with cheese but if DH chooses that I just pinch a bite of his which is enough and then I remember I really like my chicken.

I want McDonald's now!

Griefmonster · 28/05/2021 19:46

My DC were out of happy meals by 7/8. I don't eat there and get something from another local take away.

I'm hopefully going tomorrow. I'll be gutted if I DON'T get the Pokémon cards Grin

EsmeeMerlin · 28/05/2021 20:00

Ds8 has a plain cheeseburger happy meal with fries but has started to request extra chicken nuggets with it.
Ds3 has chicken nuggets happy meal.

I like a mcchicken sandwich and fries.

Slub · 28/05/2021 20:01

Me: Double cheeseburger, fries and banana milkshake
DD (23) Chicken fillet burger , fries and milkshake
DH (greedy bastard but infuriatingly slim) everything on the fucking menu PLUS a double cheeseburger on the side......

Whathappenedtothelego · 28/05/2021 20:03

13 yo has cheeseburger (no ketchup) or chicken nuggets, small chips and small Fanta or sprite or orange juice - so happy meal size but doesn't want the toy.

9yo likes chicken nuggets, chips and a milkshake.

I like cheeseburger, quarter pounder with cheese or filet o fish (I like the touch order screens as it removes the angst of whether to say "fee-lay" or "fill-it".

Sometimes we get a large meal deal with large fries/soft drink to share if that's cheaper - we only tend to go to McD's at motorway services, where they are more expensive, I think.

GeoffreyGeoffreys · 28/05/2021 20:04

No 8YO here but DS4 has plain cheese burger happy meal. I have large veggie arap meal but it's not massively filling. Sometimes cheese bites too

Flumo · 28/05/2021 20:06

My daughter is the same and she has a large big mac meal xx

mygee · 28/05/2021 20:18

DD8 usually has a cheese burger happy meal, or sometimes chooses the wrap of the day. Usually with Fanta.

DS12 has a triple bacon cheese burger with fries. He would also eat a box of 20 nuggets if we let him (we don't.) And a coke, that's the only time he's allowed it.

I quite often have a cheese burger happy meal, or sometimes a chicken legend with cool mayo. At Christmas I eat as many festive cheese melts as I possibly can!

OH tends to have different every time.

00100001 · 28/05/2021 20:18

@Flowerclock

I'm not a big Maccies fan TBH. But the kids and DH love it. I don't want to be 'that poster' but a cheeseburger and chips in a happy meal is about 400 calories, so personally I think that's plenty for 8YO DS. I tend to get a happy meal myself if we go. I used to like Quarter Pounder with cheese or 5 chicken selects, but I am a fat fucker now so need to lay off them.

I much prefer Burger King (where I would happily wolf down a Bacon Double Cheese XL meal) or Five Guys. Or Domino's or KFC.

Are they doing the Pokemon cards at the moment? Cos my DS loves them!

Considering an 8yo should be having around 1600 Cal's a day. Then a 400 calorie meal is pretty low and not "plenty"

I have been three times, once in Germany where I had chicken nuggets and once near the M3 in south west London where I had a coffee. And I used the loos in one in Warsaw.

Congratulations....?
MintyCedric · 28/05/2021 23:02

Well thanks to this thread I have had a proper Maccys binge for the first time ever...

Quarter pounder with cheese, 6 nuggets, medium fries and banana milkshake.

It was FAB - U - LOUS!

Anyone else now planning a McDonald’s trip after reading these Grin

NotJustAnyOldDog · 29/05/2021 11:43

Big Macs are the food of Gods. That is all.

ForestYeti · 29/05/2021 13:42

I’ll get a wrap or hamburger and kids get chicken nuggets/wraps/chips

ConsuelaHammock · 29/05/2021 14:04

I love their strawberry milkshakes . Someone I go through the drive through just for one of those

ConsuelaHammock · 29/05/2021 14:04

And I love the fries 🍟😍

Ju11tne · 29/05/2021 14:05

Me & DS love a good Mac Ds too. DS is 6 and a happy meal isn’t filling enough for him. I sometimes get him a chicken nugget meal or a chicken legend meal. I would usually have a 1/4 pounder meal.
