What do you your family have at McDonalds?

Please note - I know lots of MN would never dream of feeding their kids McDonalds, but we do, occasionally!

Half term is coming up and DD wants a happy meal for the Pokémon cards (and the nuggets!). She's 8, and last time we went it felt like the happy meal wasn't really enough food. She is, granted, a very, VERY tall girl (in size 11-12 😭).

What do your 8 year olds eat there? And just cos I'm nosey, what do you have?

I love a quarter pounder with cheese, fries and a coke zero. I also love a caramel mcflurry.

My eldest is 7 and he loves a cheeseburger happy meal with Capri Sonne, fruit bag and fries.

My 4 year old loves a mc nugget happy meal. Though admittedly he doesn't eat the nuggets he just rats the fries and swaps with my eldest so he can eat his fries too.

The baby is still too little for maccys but she does love a chip

canonlydoblue · 27/05/2021 20:56

My 9 year old has just come away from happy meals and has a plain burger, large fries and a milkshake. My 7, 6 and 4 yr olds have a nugget happy meal. We also get a 20 share box of nuggets so everyone can have a few more. Husband has a quarter pounder every single time and I have a bbq chicken and bacon wrap. The 2 yr old scavengers whatever she fancies from everyone else's meals.

AMillionMilesAway · 27/05/2021 21:20

I only used to like the breakfast bagels, but I think they've gone forever cries

For lunch, if I must, a double cheeseburger meal.

BogRollBOGOF · 27/05/2021 21:36

I have ravenous twig-like children. Happy meals long since ceased to fill them by 6 so they moved on to chicken wraps or sometimes quarter pounder meals. They're 8 & 10 and their appetites seem stable.

They generally could clear children's portions as toddlers.

I try to burn their energy off but they get fitter and hungrier. Not looking forwards to the teenage growth spurts...

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 27/05/2021 21:44

DH has Big Tasty or sometimes Big Mac, fries and coke
I have filet o fish, coke and give fries to kids (diet that is going well so don't want to eat McDonald's fries as they are not even that nice)
DD has 6 nuggets with fries and milkshake, she's 11
DS is 14 and likes BBQ Chicken thing with fries and milkshake.

I also quite like the egg McMuffin.

OhGodNotThisAgain · 27/05/2021 21:48

Mozzarella dippers but they hardly ever do them

Vetyveriohohoh · 27/05/2021 21:48

10yo gets an adult meal now. Or occasionally a happy meal then we get some extra nugs to share.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 27/05/2021 21:54

You bastards have made me order Maccies on Uber Eats.

JackieTheFart · 27/05/2021 22:04

My 9 year old (boy) is tiny so he’s the opposite of your girl - he is happy with a happy meal but often has a three piece chicken selects instead.

Regardless what the rest of us have I tend to get a share box of 20 nugs just in case. Sometimes the chips are nasty but nugs tend to be good!

I like a double cheeseburger with a coke, husband has Big Mac meal and older kids (12) are too big for a happy meal but a full adult meal is too much. They like quarter pounders though.

CorianderBee · 28/05/2021 00:21

Maybe get her a nuggets happy meal and cheeseburger/chicken Mayo on the side?

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/05/2021 00:33

Why is it necessary to say anything about the size of the children, or actually the adults ordering?
Can't people enjoy a meal without having to justify it?

Because MN food weirdos.

I like a Large Double Quarterpounder with cheese meal with a proper Coke, plus a few nuggets.

DD is only 20 months and only has a few nuggets plus literally a couple of my chips, then she usually has cucumber sticks and fruit from home. I usually get 6 nuggets with my meal and share with her. When she was ill recently she ate all 6 but it was all she’d eaten in 48hrs so let her go for it.

DH likes a Double Quarter pounder cheese too but never gets a drink weirdly, just chips. Then he has a fillet of fish chaser.

I do love a Double sausage and egg muffin meal too.

sergeilavrov · 28/05/2021 01:49

DH likes the large big tasty meal and nuggets. Eldest (4) used to compete with DH for the biggest nugget - and now wants a chicken legend, no bun, salad or sauce, to win. He’s going to take over the world one day.

startrek90 · 28/05/2021 07:45

@sergeilavrov (interesting username Wink) your kid sounds awesome. I'm curious though did they give you a chicken legend without it the bun?

SallyCinnabon · 28/05/2021 07:49

I’m boring I love a Big Mac meal. Large with chips and a strawberry milkshake (You can’t beat a classic!) Grin

SallyCinnabon · 28/05/2021 07:50

Sometimes if I’m extra hungry I’ll have a plain hamburger on the side BlushGrin

ChocOrange1 · 28/05/2021 08:03

DH and I have a share box of nuggets and a large fries to share.

DD4 has a happy meal and is always full before she finishes her chips, so we have at least half of hers as well.

Could you do something like get yourself something larger which can be shared and she could have some of it if she's still hungry after the happy meal

Acupofcamus · 28/05/2021 09:03

I have the veggie deluxe meal. DH changes his mind, he tends to try the new burgers a lot or he’ll pluck for a Big Mac.

DD’s (almost 9 and 10) have a chicken nugget meal and DS (11) is the fussiest eater ever, he has a cheeseburger with literally just the slice of cheese in the bread and nothing else.

Ragwort · 28/05/2021 09:10

I love an occasional McDs - I would never admit it though and go on my own for a treat ... Grin. Had a lovely breakfast there last Sunday.

This thread is useful as I never know quite what to order, I am the person spending ages looking at the menu trying to work out what everything is Grin.

OldTinHat · 28/05/2021 09:24

Ooh those fried cheese things, think you get three in a bag? Actually just any fried cheese things from anywhere are the best!

Livpool · 28/05/2021 09:53

I'll have a nuggets or Big Mac meal and DS, who is very fussy and hates chips and burgers, has a fruit bag and a bottle of milk.

When we take DS I wonder if people think he is being punished as me and DH have a burger and he has his little fruit bag. He also usually gets a doughnut or McFlurry

Thesaltandthesea · 28/05/2021 10:53

My usual go to is a medium bbq chicken legend meal with Diet Coke. I love the nacho cheese bites when they do them too!

DH is a large big tasty or Big Mac meal with fat Coke and a double cheeseburger chaser

DD9 is a plain mcchicken sandwich meal with Fanta

DS4 is a chicken nugget happy meal with fruit shoot and a fruit bag

dottiedaisee · 28/05/2021 10:57

Double cheeseburger...satisfies my Macdonalds fix about once a month!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 28/05/2021 11:00

Just buy a normal meal and buy the pokemon cards separately, I presume they still do this.

Sorry if its already been suggested.
