If you WFH what hours do you actually do?

Seems to be pretty much 9 until 3 here, with an hour for lunch.

OP posts:
Twickerhun · 25/05/2021 20:30

I work 9-5ish but take lots of breaks in the middle for washing up, cleaning the floors, popping to the nearest shop, cooking dinner. My hours are relaxed.

Piecarumba · 25/05/2021 20:32

Normally do half an hour at 5:30am ish before kids wake up to do emails and prep for the day before the teams call kick in. Then at desk after school/nursery drop off from 8:30-5pm. Eat lunch at desk, no time for a break. After kids are asleep I will usually have to do anywhere from 30mins to 2 hours extra to finish off. Technically I work 21 hours a week but in reality I’m cramming a full working week into 3 days with overspill on my days off frequently. This seems pretty standard for most of my friends too!

Thecazelets · 25/05/2021 20:33

8.30 til 7ish most days with no breaks. Lunch is a sandwich at my desk if I'm lucky. Am paid for 7.5 hours a day so should finish at 4.30 (and I do encourage other staff to do that) but I usually do at least 10 hours. Not much different from when we were in the office except that I am not leaving the house at 7.30 to get there and am already at home when I finish. DH does similar but will sometimes go for a run in the middle of the day.

TillyTopper · 25/05/2021 20:33

Around 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, 30 mins for lunch. Sometimes I'll put on a wash between calls. It's full no, no breaks, lots of context switching.

Littlepigsmig · 25/05/2021 20:33

Usually 8:00-17:45 then probably a couple of hours each evening. No lunch break, realised the other week I normally eat all my meals Mon-Fri at my desk.
Work life balance isn't great but I keep telling myself it isn't forever and others are doing similar.

NatMoz · 25/05/2021 20:35

I work full time compressed. I work Tues-Fri 7-5pm

Moomin37 · 25/05/2021 20:37

It varies but usually 7:30am - 4/4:30pm then around 7pm - 9/11pm. I often squeeze in 30-60 mins before 6:30am. Then do catching up Friday and Saturday nights, plus early mornings at weekends if I'm still behind. All in all 50+ hours per week. Pretty brutal but at least I enjoy my job.

eurochick · 25/05/2021 20:37

I usually start between 8 and 9:30, depending on whether I work out or have early meetings. I generally finish around 6:30 but sometimes need to work into the evening. If I'm dealing with different time zones I might have calls at 1am or need to get up at 4am for a meeting.

ArgyleIsle · 25/05/2021 20:38

LA, public sector, education. Contracted 8.30 - 17.00 weekdays.

Actual is usually 7.30 - 18.30, sometimes later if meetings are taking place. Sometimes an added 3 or 4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday.

Central government cuts to LA's and money centralised to the DfE and including directly to academy trusts means the LA team has halved...unfortunately the amount of expected support to schools hasn't and the pressure has increased.

Chocoqueen · 25/05/2021 20:39

Start between 8:30 & 9 then finish between 5 & 5:30 with 30-40 minutes for lunch most days. Technically contacted to 7 hours 30 minutes a day but they're fairly flexible, so some days I do more and some a bit less (usually more)

Stompythedinosaur · 25/05/2021 20:40

Contracted 9-5, work roughly 8.15-4, 5-7.30, 9-11.

I'd like to work less but the work is just never ending.

CapitanSandy · 25/05/2021 20:43

2pm-10 pm with an hour break. Rare that I finish on time though

Delphigirl · 25/05/2021 20:46

Depends entirely on my workload. Yesterday 8am to 3am with an hour for lunch and an hour for supper. Not great but needed to get a document drafted. Today 8.30 to 12.30 then 2-3.30 then a nice nap then another half an hour. Tomorrow will be a solid 9-7 probably with lunch and a few tea breaks.

Livpool · 25/05/2021 20:53

Usually 7-3 with an hour for lunch. If I take adS to school or pick him up I work a bit longer

QueenPaw · 25/05/2021 20:53

8-5pm or 9-6pm depending which shift I'm on
2 x 15 min breaks and a 25 min lunch

TheSmallAssassin · 25/05/2021 20:54

I usually start 9:40, have an hour and a half for lunch, supposedly finishing 16:40 on a short day and 18:40 on a long day (I'm part time), but I often work more because there is so much to do. I have all this week off as time off in lieu but will still have a day in hand 😩

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 25/05/2021 20:56

6:00-7:00 until DD gets up then 8:30-16:45 with 1/2 hour break for lunch. Sometimes log back on at 19:00 after she’s gone to bed to do a bit more. Covid has vastly increased our workload.

9-3 is typical? No wonder people think everyone wfh is slacking off Confused

HalzTangz · 25/05/2021 20:59

I stick to my contracted Hours, and make sure I take breaks

SpnBaby1967 · 25/05/2021 21:02

Depends, my job is very reactive. I could work 8am-9pm and barely stop for a break, or I could be logged on 9am to 5pm and have very little to do, tis is the nature of my role.

Luckily I have a very wonderful boss who is also super flexible so I can do the school runs, run errands, attend appointments etc. As long as the work is done.

Animum2 · 25/05/2021 21:04

Contracted hours are 9 to 530 Mon to Fri but at the moment lots of overtime as we are training new teams as our office has closed and work being split to two other locations, so starting at 730 and finishing around 7 and with a backlog of processing to do so working weekends as well

I will be made redundant in December once everything is in place

niceupthedance · 25/05/2021 21:06

I have some days I'll work 9 hours flat out and some days there's not much to do so I'm doing house jobs and things in between tasks. If I'm meeting my targets and available when needed then my boss is ok with school runs etc.

CasaBonita · 25/05/2021 21:06

Urgh I regularly work over my contracted hours unpaid.

However, today I got my own back and had a two hour nap this afternoon!

dudsville · 25/05/2021 21:10

I do my contacted hours, but wfh has made me a lot more flexible, I can go a little overtime without dramatics now whereas when I wasin the office I was starting at the clock and then running out to graple with the traffic and commute home.

BashfulClam · 25/05/2021 21:23

8-4 with an hours lunch. We are told to take our lunch to make sure we get a break.

Megan2018 · 25/05/2021 21:25

I do exactly the same as in the office, I’m mostly in meetings so there’s no flexibility on that.
I do Turs-Fri 08:45-16:45 (30 min lunch, 30hrs total).
