We had those dining chairs when I was a kid in the 70s ❤️

MFI I would guess!

@Movinghouseatlast

Why sneer at this house? There is nothing outlandish or odd about it. It is immaculately clean and tidy, well kept and obviously someone was very proud of it.

I don't think you 'get' what the Rightmove threads are about really.

Oh the irony! I don't think you "get" mumnset!

OP this is a lovely thread to reminisce on. Fuck knows why some poster are doing a pile on.

Maybe they didn't have wonderful nana's who lived in a house like that. As a PP said gives a nice warm feeling looking at the pictures.

And nothing really looks warm despite being at 45 years old. My nana didn't have the flying ducks but she did have best China with either stags or thistles on them.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 22/05/2021 12:50

Re: the estate agents and views thing, I remember a thread on here a few years ago about a house on Merseyside. The owners had very strong tastes in decor: everything was covered in chintzy patterns, it was a bit of a riot and you could see that it had been viewed something like 315,000 times. My DH was impersonating the estate agent on the phone to the seller: (in a Scouse accent) "Ehhrrm, yeah, it's had quite a bit of interest on the internet..." Grin

NakedBanana · 22/05/2021 17:06

And who could forget the Old Country Rose, Albert tea set?

If you are trying to be snarky, OP, you might be interested to know that your post had absolutely the opposite effect to the one you intended. I looked through these photos and just felt a huge wave of nostalgia and affection as it reminded a lot of my grandma's house when I was a kid. Especially the kitchen which literally made my heart swell.

This looks like a very well maintained family home. A couple probably raised their kids here and stayed on into retirement. And that's a lovely lovely thing ❤️

NerrSnerr · 22/05/2021 17:41

@BatleyTownswomensGuild in what possible way do you think the OP was trying to be snarky? Have you actually read any of the OP's posts?

MrsLCSofLichfield · 22/05/2021 17:45

@NakedBanana - goodness me, Royal Albert china! Gorgeous, thank you for posting that! Star

My Nan's bungalow was just like this as well - she had the same stone electric fire surround and mantlepiece. And the same kitchen. And the same dining room chairs, although hers were tan leather I think (and really annoying because of the wide gap at the back if you were sat on a cushion on them as a child as the cushion would constantly slip backwards out of the back.

NakedBanana · 22/05/2021 17:54

MRSLSC I magnified every picture too see if there was a hint of the Royal Albert tea set, there's no way they didn't have some. But couldn't see any.

QueenAdreena · 22/05/2021 17:57

What a horrible thread. This looks like my grandparents house when they’d died; dated, but tidy and presentable. I would have been gutted if someone had posted it on here for others to mock, it had been a place full of happiness and lovely memories.

Have you read the thread? It is about fond memories!

Have you actually read the thread? Well you haven't that is obvious as no one has mocked it and actually has pretty much said what you have done, happy memories of relative's houses.
Crispychillibeef · 22/05/2021 18:01

Who is mocking it?? People are largely being nostalgic.

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 22/05/2021 18:04

The decor is identical to my late Nanna's house not far from there. Same chairs, same lounge suite, same cupboards, same bathroom tiles. Evokes so many memories...

picturesandpickles · 22/05/2021 18:05

@humblesims

Oh, I see it is supposed to be funny. I’ve just spent 3 months clearing my relations’s house out after her death Same here. What a nasty thread.
You're seeing something that isn't there - the OP had a warm tone and was reminiscing.
QueenAdreena · 22/05/2021 18:06

Apologies OP, I read the first few comments and, like others, assumed that it was mocking the house/owners taste. I shouldn’t have jumped to that assumption, but I think I see so much of it on here that it’s almost odd to see someone instead being nice/nostalgic about a house instead. It’s so like my grandparents house that it made me feel really sad to think someone was mocking. But I was wrong. That will teach me to at least read all of the OP’s comments.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 22/05/2021 18:12

@NakedBanana I would bet good money that they had some Royal Albert too. I was brought up by my grandparents and they had just 6 teacups and saucers with a rose pattern which only came out on special occasions. When their house was cleared my uncle put them aside for me as my gran apparently wanted me to have them, but then he couldn't find them when I asked Sad I am hoping they are still in his house somewhere...

UCOinanOCG · 22/05/2021 18:16

It's just like my grans house was. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

ReallyBloodyAnnoying · 22/05/2021 21:24

Genuinely shocked at how many people didn’t read the thread, or at least my comments.

Pure nostalgia ❤️

I’m glad some of us enjoyed reminiscing.

Ifixfastjets · 22/05/2021 21:28

I'd love that house.
It seems so friendly!

mahrezzy · 22/05/2021 21:35

The thread title - ‘Another Rightmove one’ -suggests to anyone who looks at MN regularly that it’s going to be another thread with a house of horrors. That’s the issue.

We had those dining chairs when I was a child too. I’d forgotten all about them.

JimBobNoJob · 22/05/2021 23:21

I love looking at houses like this, so nostalgic and fascinating!
We too had those chairs and had the same kitchen units but in white.
My Nan and grandad had that unit behind the dining table.
Spotted quite a few nick nacks on the video that either we or my grandparents had as well. (Including the pampas grass in a vase - came from my Nans garden!)

Someone definitely had those penguin tiles, but can’t remember if they were in our bathroom or not I just remember they were pink!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 22/05/2021 23:29

I love the kitchen ❤️

I agree. A big u-turn from you OP.
