where did you meet your partner

I'm hoping to get "out there" if lockdown ends to hope to meet a new man . I'm not keen to try OLD and have been reading self help books about meeting men anywhere if you are open to it. in the past I only ever met men in bars or via friends and parties and have never been approached in the street etc. just wondered how many people have met someone in an unxepected way, when they werent looking?

Thinking about it I met a couple of partners through a team sport club. But neither were at all compatible with me long term and the club was a rolling boil of adultery and deception. Everyone there had shagged everyone else. Made Tinder look like a royal garden party.

its so good to hear positive tinder/OLD stories for a change that I think I need to widen the net, still terrified to try it though and feel a bit ancient(51) but young in mindset-I dont really want to try ourtime, the name makes me cringe! so which sites would you advise and would it be ridiculous for me to be on tinder?

Sounds much worse than it is but he was my ex dh friend Blush It wasn't a friend we socialised with as a couple but I always thought he was easy on the eye and we got together after my marriage broke down. 10 years and counting.....

Met in a nightclub literally the night before I was going backpacking (to get over a breakup)
Swapped emails and emailed each day that summer.
Then I got back with the ex on my return as he didn't ask me out when I got home and looking back there was a lot of unfinished business with ex.
Anyway 4 years later we bumper into each other in the exact same nightclub and I wad off travelling again. But he picked me up from the airport and we got engaged not that long after and had our dc within a short space of time.

I went from free spirit (sort of) to nappy ville very quickly Grin

I got stood up for a date, angrily joined Tinder (had no idea what it was like), messaged the first person who looked nice 5 minutes after joining.
Met the next night in a bar, absolutely loved him there and then. Been together 6 years, recently had a baby.

I think I was on tinder all of 2 hours!

Online dating...met 16 years ago, have been married for nearly 14...
This was long before Tinder though, there were no smartphones and very limited social media - and I think online dating was slower and more relaxed then (although it didn't feel like it at the time!)

Through a work friend. I was introduced to him a couple of years before we got together, he was good-looking and vain IMO.
One night at a party we stayed up talking about life, family, friends and that was it.

(Bear in mind we were 16 and 19) my friends and I used to go to the local Rock club every weekend and dh was in one of the bands playing one night. I actually knew all of the other band members but dh was at uni so never around at parties etc, only at gigs. Bizarrely I had met him one before briefly (he doesn't remember) and neither of us even really looked up, I also decided he was arrogant and disliked him immensely before we "properly" met... 15 years, 2 cats and a dc later apparently I like that about him Grin

We met very randomly at a Red Bull cycle race. I had never done anything like that before, turned up on my own and did really quite shit. We got chatting over a few cans of copious free Red Bull, he deliberately left his jumper with me so I'd have to see him again to give it back, and the rest is history.
