I'm hoping to get "out there" if lockdown ends to hope to meet a new man . I'm not keen to try OLD and have been reading self help books about meeting men anywhere if you are open to it. in the past I only ever met men in bars or via friends and parties and have never been approached in the street etc. just wondered how many people have met someone in an unxepected way, when they werent looking?

In a nightclub his best friend fell down the stairs straight onto me and he was the one that help me up Smile

Thinking of myself and friendship circle:

Work.
Church.
Online dating app.
Blind date.
Picked him up in a nightclub (ah, the good old days).

Another friend of mine likes certain old cars and belongs to a club of like minded enthusiasts. She's met shedloads of men that way. I'd rather be single forever than go to car clubs but good place to meet men.

We worked together. Been together 20 years but I do think the work place is a common place to meet a partner

In a hostel in Vietnam. We were both early 30s and had quit our jobs to travel. We met and never parted. Engaged with a 7 month old baby now a few years later.

Through mutual friends at a party. I was married at the time. Five years later, I was divorced, he asked me out, and here we are..

SpeedRunParent · 18/05/2021 20:24

Raving in kings cross. I offered him some of my water. Almost unthinkable these days, given the pandemic and all.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/05/2021 20:27

We were in the same club at uni. Fell pregnant shortly after we started dating and now have two beautiful daughters and we’ve been married since 2018.

Through us, two of our friends are now together too after they met at a gathering we had.

lilroo87 · 18/05/2021 20:32

Tinder.
Been together 3 years this year, engaged last year and have our little girl due end of July Smile

OLD is tough though, I'd been on a few on and off over the years and they say Tinder is more of a hookup app now. There are a lot of men to filter through before you find the right one x

CaribouCarafe · 18/05/2021 20:33

At a ceilidh seven years ago, which was a weirdly old-fashioned way to meet a partner! We were both about half the age of the other attendees, which definitely helped bump up our relative attractiveness to each other Wink.

Idontknowanymore05 · 18/05/2021 20:33

OLD. 20 year old me up for fun, met 20 year old him who wasn't up for fun. Been together 11 years and married for 2. 2 beautiful children and a lovely home.
I still have to pinch myself when I think back to then. ❤

Mutual hobby (30+ years ago Grin).

Littlepaws18 · 18/05/2021 20:35

I met my forever on eharmony. Pay sites are so much better because the men on their are not just their for a quick shag. Most want a long term relationship. Only downside was I found there were few in my area. But met mr right within the 2 week cancellation period- so he cost me £8 bargain! Best £8 ever spent! X

malikaqi · 18/05/2021 20:36

OLD 16 years ago. Our paths would never have crossed otherwise.

Sisisimone · 18/05/2021 20:36

Saw him crossing the road while I was sat waiting in a car and just instantly knew I'd marry him. Was like being hit by a thunderbolt
Bumped into him in a nightclub a couple of years later and that was it
That was over 20 years ago now Smile

CushionsandCandles · 18/05/2021 20:37

My best friend met her now husband in the ready meal aisle of Waitrose. Both are buying a meal for one.
I can help but think that has to be rich hunting grounds for eligible single affluent men!???!

Educational evening related to our mutual line of work. Health sector. Quite common for folk in our business to end up with each other.

FlorencenotRatchet · 18/05/2021 20:41

H1 - at uni.
DH2 - at work, he was my boss, I'd known him for 10 years before anything happened. Took both of us by surprise.
Bloke I'm seeing - OLD, Plenty of Fish.

Seasidemumma77 · 18/05/2021 20:43

In the pub, initially met when ended up standing next to each other watching a live band, and week later ended up on opposing teams playing pool.
