Snobbiest places in the UK?

Following from similar threads about overrated and underrated places in the UK... where are the snobbiest places in the UK?

From the places I've been, I'd say Harrogate, Oxford, and the rest of the Cotswolds.

Bath.
Money, money, money in abundance in many places but, like some other cities, it has a dark underbelly.

Emmasonej3791 · 17/05/2021 20:05

Harpenden

gingganggooleywotsit · 17/05/2021 20:07

Been to many many areas in the UK and the snobbiest by far is Richmond upon Thames.

nannykatherine · 17/05/2021 20:07

A plane full of hunting shooting fishing english people on the way to Inverness in the late 90s

Georgiajumps · 17/05/2021 20:17

You obviously have no idea about The Scillies to even call it that.

Bath certainly has. Something very brooding about the place.

Harpenden
Oxford
Berkhampstead
Hale though has to be my top spot.

MrsBennetsnerves · 17/05/2021 20:37

I see Sevenoaks has been mentioned a few times upthread. I'm not surprised.

muddyford · 17/05/2021 20:47

Another vote for Harpenden, I'm afraid. The residents used to call it a village. I thought anywhere with a Sainsbury's and a branch of most banks was actually a town. I lived there for two years and found it cliquey in the extreme. I have never lived anywhere like it since.

Chillychangchoo · 17/05/2021 20:59

Solihull. Very new money.

HaveringWavering · 17/05/2021 21:00

Is Muswell Hill like a Tory voting area? I heard its very wealthy
@sammyvine absolutely not! It’s a Labour stronghold with a very long and proud history of left-leaning. Definitely more on the Blair than the Corbin persuasion but not at all Tory.

Dnadoon · 17/05/2021 21:00

Balsall Common

DenisetheMenace · 17/05/2021 21:02

Cheshire (no idea why Grin)

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/05/2021 21:04

Solihull has always been that way. I knew quite a few people from there when I was a student. They called it Sewlihull. All except the one who had been at Solihull School. He pronounced it Sollyhull because they had been told at school it was a corruption of Silly Hill, said with a Birmingham accent.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/05/2021 21:07

Dnadoon had to chuckle at Balsall Common. My in laws lived there and it wasn't a patch on Solihull. Mind you this was some time ago.
