Snobbiest places in the UK?

Following from similar threads about overrated and underrated places in the UK... where are the snobbiest places in the UK?

From the places I've been, I'd say Harrogate, Oxford, and the rest of the Cotswolds.

Traditionally Muswell hill had a Greek/Turkish community of size didn't it but it's possible they've been priced out by the luvvies? Nearby Tottenham is of course entirely different in its cultural make-up. I know a couple (went to university but had a baby very young so got a council flat around MH). Bought it and sold it at some considerable profit and moved into a relatively modest (but period with features) terrace house which is valued at well over £1million now.

LYMINGTON!! where the locals protested against a Whetherspoons and Poundland opening in the High Street.

That doesn't sound snobby, it sounds sensible.

Oh dear maybe that makes me a snob and I need to move to Guildford (or Lymington).

What does luvvies mean? I don't get all these new terms like 'woke' etc.

Haringey really is the rich and the poor. Muswell Hill/Crouch End/Highgate is a completely different world to Wood Green and Tottenham.

"Luvvies" just means actors/showbiz types, and it's not a new word, it's been around for decades.

Padstow and Salcombe - the second home owners are the worst
Fulham - snobby wannabe residents like to think they are in the same league as Chelsea and Kensington

why is it sensible not to have a poundland

I think Lymington feels even worse as some surrounding areas are pretty run down.

Confused you think places like Brockenhurst and Milford on sea are “run down”?
The villages, especially on the Forest are mega expensive.
It’s all very affluent down there. New Milton is about the only place nearby that I wouldn’t describe as wealthy, but it’s not that bad compared to some.

Grew up there, loads of drugs and they are really not nice areas beneath the surface!

Hmm well I still live down there much of the time and I certainly wouldn’t call it run down. A few corners here and there but everywhere is like that to some extent. Try living in Croydon.

@HowToBringABlushToTheSnow I think it is fair to say that Surrey doesn't really have much old money but I guess it depends on how you define 'old'. This article gets it about right - Surrey is rich but not aristocratic and hence it has a reputation of being all about new money. The article may be out of date but old money doesn't move! www.greatbritishlife.co.uk/people/surrey-s-richest-50-2012-the-worlds-of-finance-property-7102662

@FedNlanders you are spot on there - there is a very nasty hidden undercurrent in many of the New Forest towns and villages, especially the Waterside area. Insular, snobby and unwelcoming to 'outsiders' , as well as loads of drugs.

I was on my way to Lymington last week when the sat nav dropped out and after half an hour of aimless meandering, I turned round and went home instead. Seems I've been saved.

I haven’t made it all the way through the thread yet, but it’s hilarious! I are with pp over Shrewsbury though, friends there, can’t really afford the house they’re in but won’t consider moving to the next town along Telford to a more affordable area. There is really snobbery over that town rivalry which is ridiculous

Another one for Bath. Not just snobby and cliquey but the most gossipy place on British soil.
