@Flaxmeadow

Warrington, arguably Radcliffe too, is not in Manchester
I live 6 miles from the city centre. Radcliffe is very much Manchester!
Soontobe60 · 15/05/2021 08:01

@Flaxmeadow

Oldham isn't in West Yorkshire?

Yes I know, that's why i pointed it out as confusing

There isn’t. “Greater Manchester’ postcode though. Oldham is OL, Bury is BL, Wigan is WN etc. Here’s a link to the postcode map of Greater Manchester. www.streetlist.co.uk/m/

HTH

Ok I work shift work so travel won’t be rush hour hopefully won’t be so bad

@Holz11 If you’re looking to buy after renting what would your budget be for how many bedrooms? I’d look at areas you can afford to buy in rather than renting them having to move area to somewhere cheaper to buy.

Holz11 · 15/05/2021 12:04

Yes true this is why we were looking at outa areas as didsby is expensive

OP posts:
Holz11 · 15/05/2021 14:07

I really want to be more country rather than city

OP posts:
Devlesko · 15/05/2021 14:12

ooh, you want to look at the trainlines going towards glossop, but maybe not that far, lots of little villages round there.

Thatswatshesaid · 15/05/2021 14:19

Lymm?

Holz11 · 15/05/2021 14:39

Ok great thank you

Worsley can be like a car park in the morning, and night and can take hours to get anywhere.

MangosteenSoda · 15/05/2021 15:20

Perhaps try close by to start with while you get used to the area and your jobs.

Stretford in Trafford LEA or Monton, Worsley, Swinton in Salford LEA are all really convenient and do have access to green spaces, woodland and pleasant walks although they are not rural.

Here’s what your budget gets you in Swinton. They are all close to East Lancs road and the fast bus lane into Manchester. Also good for primary schools.

More rurally, I think Todmorden and Uppermill are nice and are ok for liks into Mcr. I’m not sure how easy it would be to get to Salford Royal in traffic.

There’s a tram to Rochdale. Not sure if it has any nice areas on the route, possibly Shaw/Hollingworth Lake area. Good for the motorway.

Undeuxdrei · 15/05/2021 15:35

Todmorden and Uppermill would be a horrendous commute. Even if travelling outside rush hour it's still a ballache, especially if you are finishing a night shift. Agree that Horwich, Westhoughton, Blackrod and Lostock have good motorway links but are nice areas with access to the countryside, lots of family homes, nice estates. In fact Horwich is 2 mins from the motorway and has a great little town centre and close to Rivington.
Farnworth and Little Hulton are on the Bolton side of things but close to Salford Royal are a bit grim.

Holz11 · 15/05/2021 15:56

Ok great

OP posts:
Holz11 · 15/05/2021 17:00

Ok great I’ll check these areas out

OP posts:
Holz11 · 15/05/2021 17:16

I really like those houses got good garden the first two

OP posts:
MrsKeats · 15/05/2021 17:17

I would avoid Warrington personally.

Milomonster · 15/05/2021 17:28

Warrington is a big no no for Manchester commute. Depending on budget, have you looked at Didsbury?

Milomonster · 15/05/2021 17:30

@Undeuxdrei has given excellent advice and I agree re her description BUT the m’way will be packed.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 15/05/2021 17:37

Of those three houses, the Ringlow Park Road one is in the best location - the other two are closer to the East Lancs Road so more likely to have noticeable traffic noise if you're in the gardens. It's also close to Broadoak Primary School which is a great school with big grounds.

happytoday73 · 15/05/2021 17:59

I agree with PP... The first 2 are very close to East lancs (a580) and the first one will likely have further noise/parking issues as next to Albert's resteraunts.
Is there nothing in Ellenbrook? Worsley proper? Closer to Salford Royal? Monton? .. Urmston is a quick commute (with a number of cut thoughts) but has very little to rent. Stretford (also trafford) normally has more.
Equally distance out is Prestwich, Whitefield, up towards hollins area.

I'd put Farnworth, Radcliffe and little Hulton (educating Manchester) in the no pile. And I say that as someone who's worked in all 3 areas so knows them well.

Holz11 · 15/05/2021 17:59

Ok thank you it really would like a garden and backyard and that house doesn’t have one unfortunately

OP posts:
Holz11 · 15/05/2021 18:01

@happytoday73 thank you I will definitely put them in the no pile

OP posts:
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 15/05/2021 18:43

I would view the Ringlow Park Road one. It's in a really nice area. The garden has been made very low maintenance because it's a rental.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 15/05/2021 18:50

On Rightmove there are two other houses worth a look - one in Boothstown and one in Ellenbrook.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 15/05/2021 18:51

Both come up if you in Worsley as they have M28 postcodes. It's a sought after area for families so there isn't much availability.
