Do you like your siblings?

Just that really!

I like one of mine. The other one I love, but don't like very much, with, imo, good reason.

Yes. I like and love them. We get on. But I have way more in common with one than the other and find one of them far easier to spend time with. I feel very lucky with my siblings. We weren't that close for a while but have got closer as we've grown older.

Happycat1212 · 11/05/2021 17:08

No

wendywoopywoo222 · 11/05/2021 17:10

I like one of them.

Ivebeeninlockdowntoolong · 11/05/2021 17:12

I've recently decided I don't like one of my siblings. She's shown bullying traits (always put me down over the years) and seems to have a vacuum of empathy. She never talks nicely about anyone (other than her most precious offspring) and god knows I looked up to her for years as my prettier and clever sister.

Recently we had some correspondence in the family group and she put me down but the last few times I fought back. I don't think she was expecting that and she's now blocked me.

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 11/05/2021 17:12

I like her in small doses

LuckyMcDucky · 11/05/2021 17:12

Glad it isn't just me! But obviously, sorry if anyone is suffering with a crappy sibling relationship.

Pasteque · 11/05/2021 17:13

Nope, he's awful!

RoseyOldCrow · 11/05/2021 17:13

She & her husband haven't let me meet her for over a decade so I don't know.
She has not let me or our parents meet her children for over 15 years.
It's not easy to imagine liking her, to be honest, although strangely I would do anything if she asked me to (well I have always assumed I would but this post is making me think!)

Yes, one of mine had a big flounce recently and instead of being all worried about the fall out, I just felt massively... relieved! Byee then!

Yes it is a relief! I can admit I don't like her much as a person and I've decided I have no wish to initiate any further contact with her. However if she contacts me I will respond (but if she is offensive I will push back also). Others in the family have suggested I reach out to her (they are trying to keep the peace and mean well) but I have no wish to at all.

CatrinVennastin · 11/05/2021 17:20

Yes but since she married her DH she has cut contact with me. They live in the middle of nowhere and he is big into conspiracy theories and anti vaxx stuff.

She’s lost all interest her nieces which is the saddest part.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/05/2021 17:21

Nope, can't stand him.

LuckyMcDucky · 11/05/2021 17:21

Yes, I feel much the same @Ivebeeninlockdowntoolong.

@CatrinVennastin, that must be quite a worry actually. Possibly flouncing siblings are easier in a way!

OP posts:
MaverickDanger · 11/05/2021 17:22

I’m the same as you OP, like one & dislike the other.

Kim82 · 11/05/2021 17:23

Yes, my two sisters are my best friends and we do everything together. I also get on really well with my brother and we currently work together and have a laugh every day. I adore them all.

Eminybob · 11/05/2021 17:23

No, my brother is a selfish, narcissistic man child.

My half brother is ok, but we didn’t grow up together so I don’t know him very well and we mostly spend our time together in awkward silences.

Chocolatebiscuitcollection · 11/05/2021 17:23

I've got 4 siblings and have a good relationship with 3 of them.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 11/05/2021 17:25

I like one of them and can happily spend time in their company, the other two I just have nothing in common with and wouldn’t actively choose to spend time with them, we’ve got nothing in common and very little to say to each other.

Bloodypunkrockers · 11/05/2021 17:28

One of mine I absolutely hate

She is vile and once my dad is no longer with us I will never give her, her layabout husband or her awful kids another thought

My other two I love

imgoingtoregretthis · 11/05/2021 17:32

My DB is very annoying, selfish and to be honest the things he comes out with just makes me wonder why as, we actually grew up together. But my parents treated us very differently, maybe a boy girl thing. I'm the oldest and a girl women now.

LuckyMcDucky · 11/05/2021 17:35

Nice to read that some get on well with some or all of theirs too.

Although it's reassuring that I'm not the only one that doesn't.

Nicolastuffedone · 11/05/2021 17:43

Yes. Love my sister, we are different in a lot of ways, but we are very close and speak every day and see each other often

squashyhat · 11/05/2021 17:44

One yes. We live near each other and are in touch with WhatsApp, Zoom and now meeting up again despite living quite different lives. The other caused enormous damage in our family when our parents were alive because of (real and imagined) slights when they were a child that they couldn't let go of and refused help to work through. They now have a large chunk of inheritance money and have to all intents and purposes disappeared. I doubt if we will hear from them again Sad

Cornishandproudofit · 11/05/2021 17:46

I like 2 out of 5

Blacktothepink · 11/05/2021 17:47

I like 3 out of 4.
