Has anyone regretted getting a white kitchen floor? Has anyone regretted anything they chose for their kitchen actually?

Basically i can't chose what i want in my kitchen and it's driving me insane!

I think i've chosen a quartz worktop (calacatta with a thin additional vein of copper in it) and i think i've chosen a magnet cabinet style (tatton) but for life of me i don't know what colour to chose for the floor and to be honest can't chose the colour of the cabinets either!

If i go with a white floor to echo the quartz will i regret it? At least white/white means the cabinet colour will be easier to chose? No?

Heeeeeelp Grin

I've got a black sink & tap.
Kitchen has been in about 18 months.
Fairly hard water area, Cambs.

Yes it needs cleaning to stop limescale build up, but so does the stainless steel one in the utility.

I just got a reasonably cheap one off ebay.

I have a jute mat over dark walnut stained floorboards. White marble counters, white cabinets on top with dark green on bottom and white tiles on the walls. White island too. I sometimes wish we'd covered the floorboards as they're tricky to keep clean without scrubbing varnish off.

Very chic but no to the white floor. This would still look nice and be more practical with a woodlook floor.

White kitchen floor, you will be cleaning it forever. Other thing I would never have is stainless steel kitchen. You will be cleaning that forever as stainless steel constantly gets marked, esp if it's water. I also regretted buying a gas cooker once, the oven never seemed to be hot enough. The grill was useless. Ive got a different cooker now.

I like the inspiration picture. I don’t think that floor is white. It’s beige tones (probably limestone). The cabinet colour is lovely. Can you colour match it and paint your units?

Chasingsquirrels that's really lovely :) True about having to clean stainless steel also. Is that a bin hanging on your door?

We have wood effect laminate throughout the whole downstairs including the kitchen. We also have white quartz worktops which are so easy to look after. One other thing that I would recommend is a large unit/ drawer which contains 3 bins . One for general rubbish , one for recycling and the 3rd for food waste . It is so much better than having bins hanging around the floor .

I have a warming drawer for the first time and its fantastic , including the fact that you can see whats at the back when keeping food or plates warm .
I also have a pull out bin under the food prep area so I can wipe crap straight off the worktop into the bin
Dont think I could cope with a white floor tho

BetterKateThanNever sounds lovely. How do you clean your jute? Is it a big mat?

sunshinesupermum - i think i'm concerned about the blue/grey with wood. Blue/brown y'know? Might completely change the ... ambience ... of chic to more country kitchen?

I strongly regret getting wooden worktops for mine; they look good, but are a total PITA because you can't spill anything on them if you don't want to be forever sanding and re-oiling.

Yes we chose little blue square glass tiles for our backsplash - was very excited. Except what made them nice was the pretty colour and sparkly light going through them when we were holding the sample at the store. The light doesn't do that when you grout them to a wall Hmm

HasaDigaEebowai yeah i think it is limestone. We can't afford limestone and I can't find a limestone substitute in our price range.

I don't have any units at the mo! New kitchen space just built. So if i bought new ones in the 'wrong' colour only to paint them myself i think DH would have a fit Grin But i can see where you're coming from, so thank you. Lots of companies offer to colour match and custom paint but we just can't afford it.

We have wooden worktop and yes they stain, you really have to put an effort into keeping them up.

winnieanddaisy (dogs names? :) ) that looks really nice. VERY similar to what we've got going through the house so far if not exactly the same. Good thoughts about bins. Thank you.

Great seeing everyone's kitchens by the way :)

I have wooden worktops (walnut). They went in 8 years ago, were oiled properly upon being installed with decent oil (osmo) and we always use a chopping board. They still look immaculate and have never been re-oiled.

FixItUpChappie re: little glass mosaic - YES! I had the same issue about 15 years ago when i DIY tiled a tiny splash back in an en suite basin. I did 'bright sparkly' aqua blue glass. Was still nice once up but no longer quite so bright or sparkly Hmm

That blue/grey in the Tom Howley kitchen - i rang and asked for a swatch/sample of the colour and they refused. I wonder why? Grin

Magnet has a pilot blue which is similar but is a 'custom colour'.

Yes, every 3-6 months. Ours are 6 months old and we have just redone them. They didn't look bad, but only because we never put anything directly on them, we always use a board, coaster, tea towel, etc. Not really what a 'work' top is designed for, haha! We have fake marble tiles on the floor, and I don't think that's too bad; we hoover once a day and mop every other without it looking dirty.

This is the sample STDG (finger for scale) the browny line is actually slightly metalic in the light.

Thank you!

I wouldn’t say I regret it as they do look lovely, but I’m forever cleaning handprints off handle-less melamine cupboard doors.
