Has anyone regretted getting a white kitchen floor? Has anyone regretted anything they chose for their kitchen actually?

Basically i can't chose what i want in my kitchen and it's driving me insane!

I think i've chosen a quartz worktop (calacatta with a thin additional vein of copper in it) and i think i've chosen a magnet cabinet style (tatton) but for life of me i don't know what colour to chose for the floor and to be honest can't chose the colour of the cabinets either!

If i go with a white floor to echo the quartz will i regret it? At least white/white means the cabinet colour will be easier to chose? No?

Heeeeeelp Grin

🤣 exciting times @Laiste!

Laiste · 20/05/2021 14:49

Very :)

I wasn't actually looking for reviews about the zenith worktop. I didn't know what it was actually made of (even though i've stroked it in the showroom) (stone/plastic/metal/mixture of all 3?) and googled it. Spotted a mn thread and thought oooh, clicked on it and thought oh!

@Laiste yes it was Algarve. My parents and I both found the service and the fitting very straightforward and professional, and there was a few years gap in between my kitchen and theirs. Good luck!

What about concrete/stone look large format porcelain tiles? We have these in bathroom and they’re lovely and don’t snow any dirt.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/05/2021 15:51

Those cant rails have blown over, good job they didn't hit the window or light.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/05/2021 15:51

Opps! Totally ignore that.

setthecontrols · 20/05/2021 17:10

I don't know where you are but Bradford's in the SW have very reasonable kitchens- I think the make is Symphony.
They have that blue grey ( looks a bit different on my phone)

setthecontrols · 20/05/2021 17:18

The cashmere is lovely too

Horsemad · 20/05/2021 18:35

I saw Symphony units in one of the showrooms I looked in last week @setthecontrols, they are quite nice, for sure. 🙂

Laiste · 20/05/2021 18:49

@Chasingsquirrels Grin i was reading that thinking kitchen cant rail? What's this now? Hope you're ok anyway! Damn windy here too.

crumpet cheers! :)

Dogoodfeelgood concrete's coming right on trend isn't it? Looks great too.

@setthecontrols thank you v much for that. That blue/grey is indeed lovely and actually closer than anything else i've seen to the Tom Howley blue i was coveting for so long!

I think i stopped wanting the blue because i decided against a pale stone floor and i wouldn't want a blue cupboard against a wood floor. aarrgh.

I must share this exchange: Last night DH asked how the decision making process was going. I said probably almost definitely Cashmere. He said what's that. I showed him a pic of a glorious cashmere kitchen. He said ''oh. Brown''

Brown.
Brown ??
I mean ???

I said nothing but my eyes rolled so hard they nearly fell out the back of my head Hmm

@Horsemad have you found anything to reassure you about the zenith?

I'm going to selfishly attempt a hijack because I had no replies on my own thread... Please!!! Where would you put a downstairs loo in this back extension?!... It is mainly a dining area, a second living area with TV, seating and kids play area with toy storage, and needs to include space for the washing machine, tumble drier, 1m of worktop to replace what I'm losing, fridge freezer and bin, and storage for vacuum, mop, etc... But it's the loo that keeps derailing plans. It definitely has to go in this room. I'm really confused. Take pity.

Horsemad · 20/05/2021 19:27

I don't think I would - do you definitely have to have another loo?
Would it fit in the hallway?

Horsemad · 20/05/2021 19:28

Haven't really looked any further into it @Laiste but will definitely do so before committing to it. 🙂

Orangeinmybluelightcup · 20/05/2021 19:31

I don't think it would be sensible to have only one loo in a 3 bed family home with 2 young kids. There is no other place to put it. We have one at the mo, it's right in the way so we want to move it to open the room up... But can't work out where to move it to!

Laiste · 20/05/2021 19:49

@Orangeinmybluelightcup re loos and where to put them. We've just put a downstairs loo in where there wasn't one before.

The first consideration is DRAINS! Where is the nearest soil pipe/drainage? Where, in comparison to this plan is the nearest other loo? (upstairs obvs but where?).

For the love of god, don’t get a white floor. I once had a white bathroom floor with grey slate-ish wall tiles. Looked lovely, never mopped so much in my life.

The water connections are all perfectly doable wherever I put it in that room, I just can't work out where to put it so it's not in the way! Look here are 2 suggestions... There are many more...

OK, if those left and right walls are external walls and you can make the required fall to the main sewer (for flushing) then i'd say the one with the loo on the right looks best space wise.

@Laiste fabulous thank you!

Laiste · 20/05/2021 21:48

Meanwhile i'm asking DH to come up with a way to dangle an oak beam from the ceiling over the hob area to create a mantle piece and chimney breast Grin I don't want big supporting sides so it needs to have a method of hanging it which is then hidden by plaster board ...

end up with this sort of thing. but with brick splash back

I've seen pictures in a range cooker FB group I'm in where people have put shelves on brackets above their cooker to make a mantelpiece effect without the full fireplace sides.
