I had a recent similar experience with a small hard object in a tin of soup which ended up in my mouth. I immediately emailed the company who sent a package for me to send the object to them. It was analysed and it was a small stone. They apologised and sent £15 of their product vouchers.

I reckon this a build up (stalactite) of mouldy old ingredient / mix that’s built up somewhere along the production line due to a lack of cleaning and has eventually just dropped into the rolling food jars. Gross and unforgivable....name and shame please!

Cut it open, also smell it. Report back with photos and contact the manufacturer, they will keep you in pasta sauce for life if you don't go to the press.

OP you must send it back to the manufacturer with a big complaint!! You will get reimbursed hopefully with added extras!

OP does not want more jars of the same with “added extras”. She cannot be sure of cash in compensation

I've had a clump of lentils like that before, both in a can and a pouch. It made me feel a bit queasy even though I knew what it was. Does the sauce contain lentils?? If not then no idea
