Any Swifties out there?

Taylor Swift.

Her new albums I think are just amazing. Best ones I've listened to in a few years.

My favourite songs are exile from folklore and tolerate it from evermore. They really hit home because I've had similar issues with past relationships.

Anyone else ? Whenever I mention to my friends that Taylor is my new favourite artist I get funny looks!

I'm an old school Swiftie, I still listen to "Our Song" and sing along like I'm 15 again, but I haven't bought an album of hers since 1989 I think. I just can't get into her new music at all, it doesn't feel like it has the same person behind the lyrics, but I suppose that happens when you look at the life experience gained from age 15 to age 30.

I was listening to "All Too Well" again the other day, that song is one of many by Taylor that has me an emotional mess and blown over by the lyrics. Another was "Ronan", but I don't believe she has ever released that on an album.

WeCameToDance · 30/04/2021 11:02

Carmel it’s from a gaslight anthem song. Not the first time I’ve been asked that though Grin
Actually if anyone particularly likes Taylor for her story like song writing, there’s probably a good chance you’d like Brian Fallon from the gaslight anthems solo stuff.

Ohhh I was talking about London boy with the panic line, I’m getting so confused. She has so many songs!

TheChild "I'm an old school Swiftie, I still listen to "Our Song" and sing along like I'm 15 again"

Cos it's late
And your mama don't know

I think I really found Taylor at Red.

I take great comfort from Innocent....you can't argue it at my age, but "who you are is not what you did/where you've been" gives me great comfort.

Have look up Gaslight Anthem, know the name so might recognise songs.

KFleming · 30/04/2021 11:30

Yeah, “don’t threaten me with a good time” is a panic at the disco song.

I'm supposed to be working Just looked this up Fuckin A

Just like DH in his heyday

"I'm not as think as you drunk I am". If he spots it, it will be his favourite line! 😂😂😂😂😂

BusySittingDown · 30/04/2021 12:41

Omg yes! Tbh, I never thought anything of her (I'd never listened to her music) and then around 2012ish I kept hearing songs that I loved but I hadn't realised they were by her so then I realised that I was a Taylor Swift fan (if that makes sense?) 😂

It's so funny that you should start this thread - I've been listening to Fearless on loop this week!

BusySittingDown · 30/04/2021 12:42

I think that she could write an amazing musical too. Her songs tell such stories and I love that.

I couldn't bring myself to watch Cats. It looks wrong.
BusySittingDown · 30/04/2021 12:58

Grin Oh shit - I forgot about Cats! I watched it but it was dire.

Although, I suppose she didn't write it - only one song, which I did like! I feel like she could write an nice romance musical (without CGI cats ha ha!)

Getaway Car is my favourite from Reputation. It was amazing on the tour with all the lights shimmering around the stadium.
My favourite part of the show was King of My Heart, with the giant drums. Loved it.
CarmelBeach · 30/04/2021 17:22

The only part of the Reputation tour I saw was giant snakes!

AngeloMysterioso · 30/04/2021 17:36

The whole reputation show is on Netflix for anyone who hasn’t seen it...

HarleyQuinn21 · 30/04/2021 17:40

I enjoy her, my favourites at the moment are Betty, Mr perfectly fine and the best day.

ZooeyS · 30/04/2021 17:41

Oh I absolutely love her. I claim that it's dd9 making her appear in the 'your most listened to' on Spotify but it's 100% me.

Her best line is, of course, 'you call me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest' YES TAY

I'm an over 40 Taylor fan too. I started listening to her when my dd was little and she loves her so we've always enjoyed played her albums in the car.
We both love Folklore and Evermore and have regular discussions on our favourite songs from them. It changes regularly.
I love Exile, My Teardrops Ricochet and Betty on Folklore.
I love Tolerate It and No Body, No Crime.
My current favourite lyric is 'I didn't have it in myself to go with grace.' It reminds me of a relationship that ended in my early 20s.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 30/04/2021 18:08

I love her!

Wildest dreams is my favourite of her songs (hence the user name)

But I agree that folklore and evermore are brilliant albums.

She is one of the best singer songwriters of all time in my opinion and people just wrote her off because she's young and female.

CarmelBeach · 30/04/2021 18:20

And if I'm dead to you
Why are you at the wake?

There is so much understanding of everything in her words.

AngeloMysterioso · 30/04/2021 18:53

I find it odd that she’s described as a guilty pleasure, or that people pretend they only listen to her because of their kids...

What is there to be guilty or embarrassed about? The woman has eleven Grammys ffs...

Agree.
CarmelBeach · 30/04/2021 21:03

I thought of a game.

Say one word or clue and you have to guess the song. Anyone want to play?

I'll start with "Mom, I am a rich man".

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 30/04/2021 21:12

@ZooeyS The best lyric ever. Closely followed, in my opinion by ‘And you come away with a great little story / Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you...’

KFleming · 30/04/2021 21:25

You need to calm down!

I’m trying to come up with a good clue.

KFleming · 30/04/2021 21:28

@CarmelBeach Nils Sjoberg is dead.

(Like yours, this is a video-based clue)
