Reaching the epitome of middle ages

Accidentally ordered giant apple catcher pants from m&s (probably due to needing new glasses).

My gods, they are a new level of comfort. They don't fall down and are an absolute joy to wander around in. And at harvest time I will be very popular.

Am I now going to start buying clothes from the back of the daily mail?

Is this the beginning of buying for comfort rather than fashion?

Send me your recommendations for the slide into glorious middle age, where elasticated waistbands are an integral part of my wardrobe. Grin

You need to get yourself a nice warm cardi Grin

Miljea · 24/04/2021 00:50

Ooh, they'd do the job!

cerealgamechanger · 24/04/2021 00:57

😂

ihatemessyplay · 24/04/2021 01:05

Op I've been wearing these since my mid twenties. I actually consider the ones with lace up the top my nice ones Grin

fluffyatemycake · 24/04/2021 01:14

I love the term "apple catchers" I have just recently started buying m&s underwear and I love it. They really cater for comfort! For reference I am 32 and a recent convert.

Rummikub · 24/04/2021 01:15

Yes I’ve discovered the comfort of wearing a full knicker.

No digging in. Good coverage. More fabric for your cash. Bliss.

3beesinmybonnet · 24/04/2021 01:47

Aka Harvest Festivals because all is safely gathered in Grin. Nowadays it's either these or go commando if it's very hot for me.
I would also recommend thigh length tops worn with leggings which cover a multitude of sins, removing the need for all that annoying diet and exercise palaver.

Watching with interest, having got in from work, peeled off my bra, substituted my comfy, wide- waistband yoga trews for my work torture devices, wrapped in my nice long cardigan whose pockets contain two boiled sweets.

Watching 'All Creatures Great and Small' of course. TGIF!!

A tartan shopping trolley.
The sturdy kind, but if you want to be more "with it", I believe you can get more flimsy trolleys with flowers on. Smile

listershologram · 24/04/2021 03:15

Cotton traders will be your next stop OP. Then hotter shoes. You have been warned.

Giggorata · 24/04/2021 03:15

I bought a tartan 4 wheeled trolley from a charity shop and spray painted it with metallic purples, pinks and silver. It is a thing of beauty, and I can carry every and any thing or do a big shop without pulling my arms out.

I have given up high heels, or rather, they have given me up, so my feet are blissfully encased in well worn Docs or similar.

And I wear scarves.

Nuffalready · 24/04/2021 03:30

Yes! Hotter shoes...so comfy..

MeanderingGently · 24/04/2021 03:51

I've been wearing this sort of thing for years....I mean, years and years. So comfy, why wouldn't you? Really can't understand the issue.....

listershologram · 24/04/2021 04:35

I haven't actually worn them but I do have a lovely pair of docs which I wore all the time until somebody said they thought they were those shoes that old people wear 🙄
SunnySpills · 24/04/2021 05:50

A hair slide to keep your hair off your face and a nice pinafore.

OldPodge · 24/04/2021 06:09

I’m obviously one of the old bints some people judge with my comfy shoes, big knickers and cardies. I’m so done with the tyranny of dressing to please others and being uncomfortable. Getting older is sometimes painful and unpleasant but it’s actually inevitable and I find some of these comments hurtful and a wee bit ageist.

Accentor · 24/04/2021 06:25

God forbid you should wear something that an old person might wear.

I know this is all lighthearted and 'what am I like lol', but this is what ageism looks and sounds like.

FourTurnings · 24/04/2021 06:33

I like an early night. Ideally with a cup of tea.

Whatalottachocca · 24/04/2021 06:37

You'll start looking lovingly at shoes in the Pavers catalogue and clothes in the Kaleidescope catalogue next.

user1471538283 · 24/04/2021 06:51

I've always loved big pants! I did my time with thongs and little whispers of lace. I hurt my ankle 6 years ago so no longer wear heels. I work from home so unless I'm going out I rarely wear anything other than loungewear in the day and pyjamas at night.

picklemewalnuts · 24/04/2021 07:14

Bird watching. (Me, the last few years).
DH has started thinking golf looks fun...

Cattitudes · 24/04/2021 07:30

Started gardening and enjoying a trip to the garden centre. Though that could be partly due to lockdown.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2021 07:34

I hate it when the Black Death wipes out all the surfs and the land goes uncultivated.
