What's your most upsetting tv death?

Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

OP posts:

Drake Ramoray. So sad 😭

JackieTheFart · 24/04/2021 11:52

@Iamanaubergine

My DH was traumatised by Joe DuBois’ death in Medium Sad
I forgot to put this in my post but yes, that was awful.

I was so annoyed and upset by that though, (apparently) the real Allison was such a cow in real life she had made herself completely unlikeable so they decided to end the programme there.

The real Allison might not have deserved it but tv Allison deserved better. Best most realistic family dynamic in an American tv show IMO.

This is a fab thread. Some amazing actors out there. And writers, musicians, directors...
Makes me really appreciate how much talent there is and how arts education needs continued funding!

Ugh this has made for a pretty grim read. Lots of programs I used to watch & deaths I hadn't seen...

Done if mine (but I get very emotional re characters, so there have been many over the years!)

Vera in Corrie
Deidre in Corrie
Hayley in Corrie

Loads more in Corrie tbh

llm24 · 24/04/2021 12:00

Not a TV a death but Patrick Swayze in GHOST gets me every time 😭

HeartvsBrain · 24/04/2021 12:00

midsomermurderess · 24/04/2021 12:01

JCBBCJ · 24/04/2021 12:02

William in This Is Us. And Jack of course. But William dying just really got to me and I sobbed and sobbed.

WeeFae · 24/04/2021 12:05

A very recent death in Grey's Anatomy, I don't think it has aired here yet so won't go into detail.

CarmelBeach · 24/04/2021 12:05

CJ's bodyguard in West Wing

Lots of those already mentioned

Drummond in Victoria, shot outside Parliament while Alfred waited for him after they had had a fight. Alfred never knew Drummond had forgiven him and was on his way to meet him. Alfred getting the news and not being able to grieve publicly because being gay was against the law.

3babylady · 24/04/2021 12:19

Jamie Mitchell - Eastenders
Vera & Jack Duckworth - Corrie
Chantelle Atkins - Eastenders
Tricia Dingle - Emmerdale
David Tennants regeneration - Doctor Who
Mike Delfino - Desperate Housewives
Poussey Washington - OINTB

And of course as many times as he's been mentioned Mark Greene - ER.

Arrowheart · 24/04/2021 12:26

I can't remember her name but a journalist in House of Cards who got pushed onto a train line.

timeforanewnameagain · 24/04/2021 12:30

Shireen Baratheon got me too, I'd not long had my first baby and it really got to me as a new mum how anyone could do that to their child. Cried for ages!

All of the Bones lot - I LOVED Bones, might need a rewatch! It was excellent although it lost its way a bit after about season 7/8.

I also remember the parachute one on Hollyoaks, I was a teenager then and it was really shocking. The late night Hollyoaks were quite shocking generally back then, I remember a lot of very graphic storylines being covered and that was back in the late 90s/early 00s!

ImJustAGrouchSittingOnTheCouch · 24/04/2021 12:33

Mines is bones aswel but from the episode judas on a pole. I didn't like the character but the method of death was prob the worst I'd seen. Also the placebo cover of running up that hill played over it making it feel really dark.
In NCIS when you learn Jimmy's wife Brianna had died a few months ago due to covid 😥😥
Plus the covid deaths on Chicago med, 😥😥

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 24/04/2021 12:34

Jo and Ellen in Supernatural, took me hours to calm down the first time I saw it Sad

prampushingdownthehighst · 24/04/2021 12:38

Adriana in Sopranos, so well written and acted

CandyCaneLane0 · 24/04/2021 12:39

Nana in the Royle Family
Hayley in Corrie
Dennis in Eastenders
Kieron the priest in Hollyoaks
Colin in Its a Sin

Oh yes.

No one else for CJ's bodyguard? I'm still crying!

Ooh yes I forgot about that it was awful - poor Adrianna not likely she would be that naive though growing up in that world Christopher’s was horrible as well
