Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

@Scarby9

The death of Matthew in Anne of Green Gables.
Oh yes, the 80s one with Megan Fallows. He just drops in the field, it’s heartbreaking.

James Bellamy in Upstairs Downstairs.
Shoots himself - so shocking and sad............ this would have been early 1970s I think - still with me.

Nith · 24/04/2021 07:32

Molly in A Country Practice. They showed it as it were from her point of view, watching her child playing and then fading out. I was in floods.

The poor ?Colombian girl, about 12, who died of exhaustion trapped after an earthquake with the world's TV cameras on her. I was a few years younger and it was the first time I realised that people my age could really die.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 24/04/2021 07:47

More film than TV but bloody bunnies dying in Watership Down leaves me in bits EVERY TIME 😭

@StellaAndCrow

Christopher Ecclestone's character in Cracker. The series are available to watch on BritBox, but I can't face going through it again, with what happened to Jane Penhaligon as well. Though it's a brilliant series if anyone hasn't seen it.
We’ve been re-watching Cracker on Saturday nights, it’s bloody good, but so harrowing!
sandgrown · 24/04/2021 08:04

Stan Ogden in Coronation Street. Not the actual death but the scene where Hilda is holding his glasses case and sobbing. So moving .

Emmab321 · 24/04/2021 08:06

@FionnulaTheCooler yep - buffys mum was exactly what I was going to say ! I still have to skip that episode when I rewatch

CarolinaWeeper · 24/04/2021 08:06

Baby Faith in Outlander. I cried and cried.

Arrierttyclock · 24/04/2021 08:10

The sweet artistic girl in good girls

RaraRachael · 24/04/2021 08:13

Agree with Christopher Eccleston in Cracker. So shocking and unexpected. It was the first time I'd seen Robert Carlyle and he was beyond menacing.
One of the few actors who can actually act.

TSSDNCOP · 24/04/2021 08:13

Adriana in Sopranos

When Nana died in the Royle Family Christmas Special. I was devastated!! I think because it reminded me a lot of my gran who at the time was still alive, but I was very aware of her age and this scene felt very close to home. Cried like a baby!

HagenDaz · 24/04/2021 08:32

Ofelia in Pan’s Labyrinth. I’m welling up now even thinking about it.

Matthew mcconaughey’s character in Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. That was a proper Shock and I burst into tears on the spot.

Sorry, these are films but I watched them at home, thank goodness.

LJB689908 · 24/04/2021 08:38

I was devastated by Ruth in spooks, I so wanted her and Harry to get together

Bill in Killing Eve too. Just so brutal and unexpected

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 24/04/2021 08:47

All deaths in it’s a sin
The cop in the first season of line of duty, not so much sad but I got such a shock when he jumped i front of the lorry and his poor kids.

Aiden’s death in Corrie, that whole episode just had a horrible feeling throughout, the music etc. Thought about it for ages after
A particular death in thirteen reasons why
