I LOVE Bones! Heartbreaking when sweets dies but I was also heartbroken when Vincent Nigel-Murray died @WhySoSensitive I've watched it so many times now I can mouth along to the script! I even remember the music from the soundtrack when used in other shows! The music used from the episode "the sense in the sacrifice" was used in a season 12 episode of criminal minds - night song by the family band. Any bones fans will probably instantly recognise it. Flynn's death was also a shocker!
What is ‘Bones’
A fantastic crime procedural drama with the leads being "bones" temperance Brennan who is a forensic anthropologist, she is feisty, prides herself on her pragmatism and flawed but amazing, and sealey booth (played by David boreanaz) as her fbi partner who is a former ranger sniper, passionate and idealistic. They're opposites but work well together and there's the lab/museum team which includes Brennan's best friend Angela, and Camille Brennan's boss who's also booths ex and Jack another scientist who's a secret billionaire plus later the "squinterns" who are the lab interns who rotate through episodes of which Vincent Nigel-Murray was one (they all gave quirks - his was being a vault full of trivia he often quoted also british) it's just fabulous, lots of back story, good crime plots and several "will they won't they" romances too - plus some excellent cameos
Mark greene ER was also just gut wrenching and so well done, also Lucy's death was such a shock, Pratt and Lucy knowing they were going to die and nothing anyone could do about it. Gants death made me so angry, they all saw he was struggling and did fuck all.
@TheAnswerIsCake ER recently dropped on all4 the whole series - summer last year I think? So a lot of us have been watching it all again
It's a sin - all the deaths, was particularly evocative for me for a number of reasons
But I think the one I found hardest was Barry frost in "Rizzoli and isles" mainly as it happened due to the suicide of the actor who was just so so young too. Awful
Wills death in good wife was a total shock, I didn't read spoilers back then
I'm watching greys anatomy not quite for the first time, I got as far as Denny's death 1st time around which was a total sob fest, I'm only at s2 and just watched the moron bazooka makers episode and even though the bomb disposal guy was only a 1 episode guest I was still caught out.
Sybil in downton led to some interesting conversations with other mums who were shocked to learn that can still happen now.
One for the oldies among us - Meg in home and away - just absolutely wrecked me as a storyline. @Yogaposer glad I'm not the only one remembers this one. @AnneShirleysNewDress yes she was - even more heartbreaking I've just read that the actress who played her also died of cancer at just 43
Prue on charmed - BUT it's pipers grief in "hell hath no fury" that really gets me "how could you leave me?!"
DH says Reece in Person of Interest.
Yes but I actually found Joss's death and Reece's reaction - basically literal scorched earth approach! While Johnny cash's version of hurt plays? Omg! If that doesn't get to you you're not human!
Hayley Hotchner in Criminal Minds. Definitely! Especially when she tells hotch about raising their son after she's gone, knowing foyet is going to kill her...
Cassie in unforgotten
Karen in desperate housewives recently rewatched that, again made all the more poignant by the actresses own illness, she died the day before the episode was shown in the Uk, also Mike - again a shocking one.
Kate on ncis - don't even get me started on Zivas storyline
Also - Stan Ogden in Coronation Street - Hilda with his specs, sob
Omg yes, minds me of my gran and grandad on mums side. He died relatively young he had a watch (not expensive or posh) which he always wore and gran wouldn't let it away from her side for years.
Max and Susannah's children in Brookside.
Yes! Another really shocking one! I miss brookside not been a show like it since really
My DH was traumatised by Joe DuBois’ death in Medium that one just plain annoyed me! As for ghost whisperer! Ugh!
I remember being really upset at the episode of soldier soldier when someone left his safety off and killed another soldier during a training exercise.
I Often mention that one on these threads, it was Tony Wilton that died but it was the stellar but understated performance by Annabelle apsion as his widow that did for me. She was holding it together until... she was ironing or sorting laundry and came across a shirt that still smelled of him and she just held it to her face to inhale his scent and broke down
Haven't read every single post but I'm surprised I haven't seen one mention Kutner in House (apologies if I've missed you if you have!)
I hated that one it was such a cop out and offensive to the actor
Ambers death was awful though love Anne dudek (she's in sooo many shows in small parts too)
I think complaining about spoilers on a thread that will OBVIOUSLY have spoilers is plain daft!
