Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

whiskers I haven’t watched mas men but think those who said that name in this thread dropped that in as a kind of test of the robustness of the thread. Don’t worry and stop reading the thread.

@MobyDicksTinyCanoe SNAP! I've watched gorier and more dramatic abs hyped up TV deaths but for some reason Lance's death on Cucumber really stayed with me. I remember crying and feeling devastated for a couple of days which is definitely nit a normal reaction for me to a TV show.

reginafalange2020 · 23/04/2021 22:27

Matthew in downton abbey was pretty devastating

SheldonesqueTheSecondComing · 23/04/2021 22:27

Do not be talking about an ongoing programme pleeeeeeeease.

I’ve not had time to watch any yet Sad

PeterPomegranate · 23/04/2021 22:28

@Gregorsgirl

The son at the end of torchwood:children of earth. I was also traumatised by that, God I'd forgotten about that.
Oh! Awful awful. I wished I hadn’t watched it.
SuziQuatrosFatNan · 23/04/2021 22:32

Not a death but when Rose Tyler gets rescued by her dad in Doctor Who. The only way he can save her from being pulled into the void is to take her to the parallel universe. And the Doctor stays in "our" universe, the path between the two is closed and they're each touching the wall between them, which is now a universe between them.

It sounds very dry in outline but it's heartbreaking to watch.

Gertie75 · 23/04/2021 22:33

Joe Carroll in the Following, not upsetting but very powerful.

UserEleventyNine · 23/04/2021 22:34

HeronLanyon
She’s a great actress also.

Which version? I didn't see the more recent film because I didn't think the BBC version with Cheryl Campbell could be improved on.

CaffeineAndCrochet · 23/04/2021 22:34

Lucy in ER, I was traumatised by that storyline with Carter when he sees her under the bed for years!

Same! I only started watching ER that season and I loved Lucy at the time. I remember actually shaking after the episode where Carter fell to find her the other side of the bed.

I also can't watch the episode where Mark Greene dies without sobbing.

And then there's Fry's dog in Futurama - I watched it once and I've never been able to bring myself to watch it again.

Ilovelblue · 23/04/2021 22:36

Elvis Harte in Our Girl when he was blown up by a terrorist bomb. I was devastated and couldn't believe that I felt it had really happened!

colouringindoors · 23/04/2021 22:36

Lucy in ER, I was traumatised by that storyline with Carter when he sees her under the bed for years!

Me too. Shocking, awful murder.

FlyingPandas · 23/04/2021 22:37

Another vote for Rachel in Cold Feet.

That episode where baby Matthew starts crawling, and Adam is 'talking' to 'ghost' Rachel and says 'Rachel! Look! He's crawling!' and she says 'Oh, I would have loved to have seen that.' That moment when it finally hits Adam that she's actually gone Sad Sad Sad

Pumpkintopf · 23/04/2021 22:37

David Tennant's Doctor Who.
Brodie in Homeland.

Islagiatt · 23/04/2021 22:38

Mark Greene in ER.
Can’t quite believe how many people are the same and it’s been nearly 20 years! My friend and I rang each other the actual second the episode finished so upset were we.

Even when her dad died, I told her he had just gone to Hawaii with Dr Greene. And anyone else, who I like doesn’t die they have just gone to Hawaii.

Todaywillbegood · 23/04/2021 22:41

Judy Mallet in Coronation Street. I still worry if I get a big bruise.

More recently it was Noel on Casualty. That episode was so chillingly close to reality. So raw.

Zenithbear · 23/04/2021 22:42

Omar in The Wire
Adriana in Sopranos
