Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

Most of mine have already been mentioned, but Augustus Hill in Oz and Niobe in Rome also really got to me.

DitchinVirgin · 23/04/2021 21:19

Most upsetting: Aiden in Coronation Street. The leadup was heartbreaking in hindsight.

Most poignant: Vera coming back for Jack in Coronation Street.

Saddest reaction/aftermath: Karen in Cold Feet breaking down in the supermarket remembering a really non-descript shopping trip with Rachel.

I’m not sure what this says about me, but my first thought was the horse that had to be put down on the aeroplane on the way to the Olympics in International Velvet.

Richard Gilmore in Gilmore Girls - a year in the life. Even though the actor sadly died before it was filmed.

Colin It’s a Sin
Glenn The Walking Dead
Will The Good Wife

Proper sobbed at all of them.

DrFoxtrot · 23/04/2021 21:22

I'm crossing all my fingers in the hope that Aberama Gold is not dead despite being shot in the last episode of Peaky Blinders.

Littlepaws18 · 23/04/2021 21:22

Mark Greene in ER 😢
And Rachel in Cold Feet! Cried buckets!
Minniem2020 · 23/04/2021 21:24

Greg Pratt-ER
Mark Greene - ER

Justin-13 reasons why

JudgeJ · 23/04/2021 21:25

@MorganSeventh

Michael Praed as Robin of Sherwood round about 1985. I am sure there are other deaths more shocking, but I was 8 and it was the first major character death I remember. And then to add insult to injury they replaced him with Jason Connery in the last series. And Marion became a nun Angry.

Thirty six years on, still indignant.

Loved that series, he made a massive mistake leaving the series! Wasn't COnnery someone else, not a replacement for Robin.

One death I recall, because it was so funny, was Hector in Monarch of the Glen, Richard Briers. He'd found a bomb, threw it to safety and his dog brought it back, ready to explode!

MintLampShade · 23/04/2021 21:26

Sons of Anarchy - Tara 😭😩

@espressoontap

Agree with Buffy's mum & Mark Greene in ER.

Another ER one - Greg PrattSad

Greg Pratt was amazing / appalling television, the moment when they realise it’s him, when the pager goes...
HeronLanyon · 23/04/2021 21:29

id blow I see your neighbours and raise you the Sullivans - when one of the sons died in the war I was inconsolable - I was also bunking off school - used to go home for lunch
Sometimes and stayed home to watch tv. (No parent there).

FlouncingBabooshka · 23/04/2021 21:30

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

A very old one.. Col. Henry Blake in MASH. Whole episode about him going home to his family... And then dies on the way home.
@Aroundtheworldin80moves I remember that Sad. He was a lovely character. Used to watch MASH with my dad and I remember him being so upset and saying ‘oh why couldn’t they have just let him go home?’

Dr Green in ER of course.

Alex in Ashes to Ashes when she realises she really is dead and says ‘My daughter’ with such sadness.

The deep fat fryer episode utterly traumatised me. We only started watching Spooks in series two. When the series finally ended (maybe eight series I think) we went back and watched series one. I swear I never would have got beyond the second episode if I’d started at the beginning. Still not quite over it.

aliloandabanana · 23/04/2021 21:31

Aiden in Corrie. So well done and so, so sad. Haven't read all the posts, so sorry if it's already been discussed.

HappySonHappyMum · 23/04/2021 21:32

Ruth Evershed (Nicola Walker) in Spooks. She was just about to get her happy ending with Harry after all the drama of the whole series from the very beginning and bam. I was devastated for days…

Krook · 23/04/2021 21:32

Sybil-Downton
Poussey - OITNB - this really shocked and upset me for days

AbsolutelyPatsy · 23/04/2021 21:33
