Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

@alloutofcareunits

Mark Greene in ER 😢
Absolutely this - every time I hear ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ sung by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole - I see Mark Greene laying in bed in their beach house, curtains wafting in the breeze from the ocean.......😥

Colin in Its a Sin. Oh that whole episode 3 Sad I don't think I've ever cried so much over a tv death.

Omg @bookworm14 yes to Sarah Barnes in hollyoaks! It was terrifying watching her fall and the music they played at the end .. the whole thing freaked me out and still does. The GF was super creepy.

And Greys:
Mark
Lexie
Denny

MorganSeventh · 23/04/2021 21:04

As I said, i never watched it, or any of the rest of Spooks... Though that description doesn't make it sound any more like something I would enjoy.

DenisetheMenace · 23/04/2021 21:04

Nicola Walker in Unforgotten: really though she would pull through.

Worst movie death, Brendon Gleeson, In Bruges.

@Icantreachthepretzels

Literally just posted the same thing!

I still get weepy at wild mountain thyme when I hear it!

Hellvelyn · 23/04/2021 21:05

Mark Greene in ER no question.

bumpdownthestairs · 23/04/2021 21:05

Not rtft but I doubt anyone has said this one, Stingray on Neighbours. I was about 17 when it happened and cried my eyes out, wasn't particularly traumatic I just found it really upsetting 🙈

SirVixofVixHall · 23/04/2021 21:06

Cassie in Unforgotten is the most recent one that upset me, I am so annoyed that they actually killed her !

Allthingspeaches · 23/04/2021 21:06

@Ironmanrocks

Ned Stark!! I know it's obvious but I honestly didn't see it coming and cried my heart out!!!
Can't believe you're the first person to mention him!

I was devastated!

britespark1 · 23/04/2021 21:08

Fred and Doyle in Angel, Joyce in Buffy & Dean in Supernatural. Sob every single time for each one Sad

Missyelliottsaysso · 23/04/2021 21:09

@MobyDicksTinyCanoe

Cucumber on channel 4.

The series was so upbeat and then one of the main characters died from a whack to the head. It wasn't gory or overdone but the simplicity and finality of his death haunted me. I had nightmares over it.

It was made by the guy who did its a sin so if anyone liked that they'll love cucumber as it's pretty similar.

Yes to this, It was so traumatising. I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards.

Also Rachel in Cold Feet.
Daphne in Neighbours.
Tiffany in Eastenders, cried buckets.

Iloveliberty · 23/04/2021 21:10

The boy in striped pajamas. Such a chilling and unexpected end.

maddiemookins16mum · 23/04/2021 21:13

Barbara in CTM, I still felt tearful the next day, proper sobbing I was.

RobinHumphries · 23/04/2021 21:15

Dirty Den in Eastenders. I was only a child at the time and I still remember it so clearly. Didn’t really watch Eastenders but it was the clash between the peaceful scene, the river/canal, the loving couple and then the hidden gun. It traumatised me

NeilBuchananisBanksy · 23/04/2021 21:16

Up! as well, the first scene about their lives together is the most beautiful piece of cinema. I raw when she dies.

Butchyrestingface · 23/04/2021 21:18

Assumpta in Ballykissangel. My mum put me out of the room because I was crying so hard it was ruining her concentration.

DogInATent · 23/04/2021 21:18
