Arrrrghhhhhhhhh! (That's my day explained)

DS can't even draw me a picture so I have no hope of him writing anything. I flip between he's never going to get on and school and then not worrying about it.

MonkeyPuddle · 27/04/2021 17:46

I’m sure you will all appreciate DS’s smiley face drawing with rainbow hair.
It’s expression closely resembles mine a lot of the time.

Yeah I thought she maybe had slightly too high expectations for him, I’m all for wanting them to achieve but not setting them up for a fail. He knew all his letters but she was so negative about him not writing, it was like she couldn’t see the positive things he could do. But then again, I don’t really know her so could be reading too much into it.

We joined the local library this afternoon and the stars aligned as DD napped in her pram so DS and I could read stories together. It was just really nice. Went to another park afterwards, there was a young lad who’s just had his pre school booster vaccinations and was crying on the playground and DS stopped and tried talking to him and to show him his dinosaur toy ‘to make him feel happy again’ oh my actual heart, got proper mum proud at that.

I’m glad the bath went well @BeHereNowx32 just with bath ideas we have a flashing hot tub light which we use in the dark in the bath for a disco bath, I’ll crack out glow sticks, let DS have a can of £1 spray foam (get from B&M/£1 shop) and let him go nuts with it, I’ll sometimes give him his pudding in the bath, all done sporadically when I need to 😊

@BeHereNowx32, sending you support and positive vibes for your IVF cycle. I've been there, Iknow what you are going through, here if you want to chat about it x

Chocolatetrifle · 27/04/2021 17:58

@MonkeyPuddle, wine sounds nice, could do with a glass too!

Motherofmonsters · 27/04/2021 18:54

@monkeypuddle definitely!

DD has a cold again for the millionth time. She gone to bed with a dose of paracetamol, calpol plug in, vapour rub on her feet and chest and saline sprayed up her nose. I literally cannot do anything else to help her stay asleep.

Motherofmonsters · 27/04/2021 20:25

She has not stayed asleep...

MonkeyPuddle · 27/04/2021 21:39

Saw this on Instagram, for our little ones who laugh in the face of rules.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, country house, no partners, no kids. God, Id be ecstatic with an overnight stay in a Skegness caravan if it meant I could have wine and sleep.

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2021 06:37

@Chocolatetrifle thank you. I will send you a message soon :) starting to feel nervous about it now.

@Motherofmonsters oh, what a shame. The cold is the worst thing for their sleep.

DD woke up and shouted “where’s my my tablet?!” So, she has it already 🙈 but today is a day out at the farm- in the rain!

PinkDaydreams · 28/04/2021 07:09

I've been wide awake since 2.30, no idea why, started falling back to sleep at 5 but then 'D'H was making loads of noise getting ready for work so I couldn't sleep. I feel so tired now, Ds in nursery but only half a day and I've got things to do this morning so no chance of a sneaky nap Confused

I'm very jealous of all these farm visits. I checked trip advisor for my nearest and the reviews were horrendous! A handful said that the owners had threatened to shoot them!!!! I won't be going there!

Oh no @pinkdaydreams, hopefully you can manage a little bit of quiet today. I hope bedtime comes around quickly for you.

I feel like a complete Zombie, I've forgotten what it's like to be ill. Guess it's what happens when you go in a room full of toddlers for the first time in a year. My SIL is getting married at the weekend so I hope we are both better by then.

DS is at Preschool today so I'll be doing my usual routine of housework and playing with DD. DS is then going with MIL to get his haircut, I feel a bit mean as he doesn't want it done but it looks horrendous and there is a proper photographer at the wedding. I've bought him a Playmobil fire truck that I'll wrap as a bribe and he can watch PJ Masks on his tablet. He's not allowed to watch it usually as it makes his behaviour bad so it's reserved for haircuts only.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 28/04/2021 14:03

So nice to hear of people getting out! We have not been anywhere much yet except social visits in gardens but it’s good to get some ideas!
Thanks v much @Camomila for the white noise suggestion a while ago, I got a device that plays for 20m and then comes back on if they make a noise - touch wood it seems to really help my 8month old. Have attached a picture in case it might be an idea for you @OhToBeASeahorse. Its out of stock until the end May which is annoying as I want one for my 2 yr old as well!
Also thanks to whoever posted the post it numbers/ letters search game - we use it all the time over here.
Good luck for the rest of the day @PinkDaydreams - and fingers crossed for a better night tonight.

Ooh I might have a look at the white noise machine, DS is quite a fan of it!

Having a tough time with DD. She can be amazing all day and then she suddenly switches and turns into this demon. She's screaming, hitting, scratching and nothing you do calms her down. I don't know whether she's starting to act up because of DS' arrival, or teething or what. Literally no idea what's causing it or how to fix it. Just want my happy girl back! And she's only 19 months so reasoning doesn't really work!

Motherofmonsters · 29/04/2021 01:52

I haven't made into my bed yet. DD will not stay asleep in her cot yet again.

DS had his haircut and he looks completely different. His face is very expressive now that I can actually see it.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/04/2021 08:53

Someone needs to have a word with these bloody non sleeping kids.

I’ve woken up with a head cold but have got a temp so I’m off to get tested shortly. Nice day with us all trapped in the house. I bought DS one of those overpriced kids magazines so we’ll get that out between the whining to watch more Blaze and the Monster Machines.

PinkDaydreams · 29/04/2021 09:09

Oh @Motherofmonsters and @MonkeyPuddle sounds like you've got it tough lately :(

Three mornings on the run now Ds has woken up with a leaky nappy so it's meant stripping all the sheets and sleeping bag washing everything, haven't got a tumble drier and weather has been rainy. His nappy hasn't leaked for ages, only thing I can think is that he's been drinking loads of water after nursery, I don't think he's drinking there, then he's weeing loads during the night.

Anyway, probably a library visit today, even though we went yesterday! But we enjoy it Grin

Hope everyone got a bit more sleep?

A wedding sounds a lovely thing for this weekend @Motherofmonsters. Hope you and DD feel better in time.

@MonkeyPuddle, oh no, hope you feel better and the test is negative. Thank you for the blocks idea, I've had them out and DS1 has been happily doing them plus magnetic tiles.

@Lostthetastefordahlias, thank you for the post-it idea I'm definitely going to try that game.

@drumst1ck
,Try not to worry about DD, it's such early days with having DS. She is probably just trying to express herself. Toddler tantrums though, ugh. Awful things they are.

Just having some garden time and DS1 is digging holes and moving little stones. dS2 is happy pottering around. We have a tortoise and he loves terrorising him!

Chocolatetrifle · 29/04/2021 09:18

@PinkDaydreams, oh no that's a lot of hassle. Just a thought what about going up a size of nappy or nappy pants?

Camomila · 29/04/2021 09:26

@PinkDaydreams is he wearing nappy pants or nappies? I kept having that problem with DS2 so switched him from size 4 nappy pants to 4+ nappies with the sticky strips overnight and that seems to have sorted it. Not sure if he needed to have more absorbant ones or was just wriggling a lot.

DS2 and I been for a little walk with his backpack harness on after the school run and are now home watching cbeebies and having a cuddle (both had a bad nights sleep - DS2 ate lots of cheese yesterday and kept farting himself awake and crying)

Not sure what we'll do for the rest of the day, I might put some of the baby toys away and pull some of DS1s toddler toys out of the wardrobe. I love rearranging stuff.

PinkDaydreams · 29/04/2021 09:28
@PinkDaydreams, oh no that's a lot of hassle. Just a thought what about going up a size of nappy or nappy pants?
He's in size 6 nappy pants so yes good idea, but unfortunately the only 7 I have seen are pampers and every pampers I've tried have leaked! He's in Asda brand and they have been brilliant for ages! He used to have the pampers premium protection which these were brilliant too but they stopped making them and replaced with something else but they leak. Nappy brands are so frustrating!

OP posts:
PinkDaydreams · 29/04/2021 09:31

@Camomila thank you! He has been in nappy pants for so long as he won't lie down for a nappy. Nursery have insisted on nappies only though so it may be worth me changing over to nappies and trying to change him standing up.
He's 3.3 which yes I know I probably should have him potty trained by now but he's autistic with limited understanding so I feel he's not ready yet. Not ranting by the way, I've just had a few looks from other parents when I say he's not training yet Hmm

PinkDaydreams · 29/04/2021 09:31

Oh and I agree @Camomila I love a good clear out and rearrange!!

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 29/04/2021 09:37

@PinkDaydreams you can get potty training sheets for the bed that might save all the washing. Don't stress about the potty training, they all get there in their own time

Motherofmonsters · 29/04/2021 09:39

@pinkdaydreams, DS wasn't potty trained until 3.5 and still has accidents now when he's to busy playing. Both his cousins weren't potty trained until then either.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/04/2021 09:42

@PinkDaydreams DS was leaking loads overnight with pull ups, he’s dry during the day but not at all at night, but I’ve found that pampers do size 8 nappies which rarely leak. The only times he’s leaked is when he’s undone it 😂 it’s frustrating having to strip the beds all the time. And don’t feel like you need to justify why he’s still in nappies, people can shove their unwanted opinions up their bums.

@Chocolatetrifle we love magnet tiles here too, building a nice big tower and smashing it!
@Camomila hopefully you have a restful day. I love having a day of organising, I find it really therapeutic.

I’m back from the testing centre, DS doesn’t wanna get dressed so we’re having a pj day, telly is being switched off at 10 in favour of stickers. Am going to play the five minute mum toy tombola game, it’s a firm fave in our house. Am going to do it with the letters of his name.
