I'm imagining you sat laughing in the middle of the chaos @mobkeypuddle. Glad your back is feeling better.

We had some battles with DS over teeth but now he lets me do them. I have to tell him he'll get holes in his teeth if I don't and he seems to understand it. I cant get a toothbrush anywhere near DD, she was fine then all of a sudden thinks I'm murdering her.

I've actually had a good day today, we've painted (DD did not understand poster paint so it went every where) any tips on getting DS to not mix all the colours? I bought DS a dry wipe activity book and a maze book so we did that for a little bit. Made a picnic with the pretend kitchen food and numerous jigsaw puzzles. I've realised I don't spend very much time just playing, we always go out so at home I'm trying to do jobs/get things ready/faffing with DD naps. It made a nice change and I definitely need to play more.

footprintsintheslow · 18/05/2021 19:02

Yes @Chocolatetrifle we are off on Friday morning to North Wales. I'm just say doing the online shop to arrive hopefully just after us. I can't wait.

When my eldest started nursery the staff called me aside and said did I realise my daughter never wore pants. Turns out she'd flush them on arrival every day. 🤪🙄

OhToBeASeahorse · 18/05/2021 19:06

@Motherofmonsters I'm exactly the same. I find myself saying 'let me just...' all the time. Playing with small ones is hard

Evening all! I've just sat here catching up on all your days and having a good giggle at toilet antics and the bath poo Grin this thread is simply brilliant!

Enjoy your holiday @footprintsintheslow, it's so nice that people are finally getting to travel a little and have a well-deserved break!

The jabs went well, DS hasn't really seemed to have any issues, isn't feeling feverish and went to sleep relatively easy...so hoping that will continue. Back to nursery tomorrow which will be great as it's hard to work with a small child crawling all over you.

What does everyone tend to feed their toddlers for snacks? I had big plans to make snacks for DS - muffins, cooked vegetables with dips - but I've been incredibly lazy and he's mainly survived on prepackaged baby snacks. Which has worked well except now he demands several packets at once, and I can't work out if it's because he's still hungry or because he's a corn snack addict. Any suggestions welcome Smile

Congratulations all on surviving/thriving through another day and making it to bedtime - raising a mug of tea to you all!

Chocolatetrifle · 18/05/2021 19:56

@MonkeyPuddle, glad your back is feeling a bit better now and glad the prunes worked for DD but bet DS was not happy! We've had a couple of baths poos here in the past, there's something about the warm water which helps them get it out if stuck.

@footprintsintheslow, hope you have a lovely holiday holiday. North Wales is lovely, we've been to Conwy and Deganwy many times and Llandudno. Can't believe your DD flushed her pants at nursery!

@Motherofmonsters, sounds like you've had a great day, so pleased. No tips for poster paint mixing, it's like Play-doh! All ends up brown!

@squishymamma, glad your DS got through his hand. Toddler snacks, hmmm, everything in the cupboard! Mine like rice cakes, babybel cheese or cheese sticks, scotch pancakes, crumpets, fruit toast, pom bears.

MonkeyPuddle · 18/05/2021 19:57

On the tooth brushing thing DS can only have his (beloved) morning vitamin tablet if he brushes his teeth, no teeth, no vitamin. Because vitamins don’t work if your teeth are dirty.
At bedtime he can’t have stories without them being brushed. He had a couple of grouchy nights where he refused to brush his teeth so he got a kiss and a ‘night night’, he kicked around his bed until I went back up after about 5 mins, did his teeth and he got his stories. He’s a creature of routine so there’s not a cat in hells chance would he sleep without stories so I knew he would give in, even if it took a few nights.

@footprintsintheslow flushing knickers is fab! I love how their little minds work!

Play is good, but hard with 2. I think that’s why I like five minute mum, because it makes it easier. And frankly, I am all about an easy life.

@Motherofmonsters all our painting sessions end up with the paint being brown. Our play dough is heading the same way! And I absolutely was sat laughing while enjoying my brew. DS used to poo in the bath aaaaallllll the time. The worst was when he had a really loose poo while he was sat between my feet when we were sharing a bath!

@squishymamma is it DS’s first or second MMR? They can come out in a rash and/or with swollen glands under the jaw with it sometimes, can make them a bit grouchy, it’s a delayed response to the vaccine and can occur about a week after immunisation so don’t be surprised if it happens (I give these jabs at work). Regarding snacks, I don’t really give them routinely, if DS is hungry and mithering me or a meal might be later than normal he can have a piece of fruit or some cheese but I don’t offer them.

Tomorrow DS is off to nursery. He came home from an extra night at his dads, he was sobbing at drop off as he’d wet himself in the car, he’s not had an accident for a good 8 months, turns out his dad didn’t take him to the loo before setting off on the hour long drive. Knob.

I’ll be taking DD to the garden centre, I need to get some wire for a craft project. Think I’ll stop in the cafe and have a cup of tea and one of their massive vanilla slices. Force myself to eat it Grin

Daisyplain · 18/05/2021 20:34

Just catching up.
I have an asleep DS on me. I’m absolutely starving for my dinner but he’s so adorable and I haven’t seen him all day so I’m enjoying the cuddles.

Snacks - I don’t give them between meals anymore, DS is a bit of a chub so I don’t think he needs them. If I do it’s fruit or cheese though.

Poo in the bath - either DP or I normally have a barn with DS so I’m terrified of this happening but luckily hasn’t yet 😂

Hope everyone has a drama-free night.

squishymamma · 18/05/2021 21:11

@MonkeyPuddle first shot. Thanks for the heads up! I'd heard that the reaction tends to be a bit delayed so will just keep an eye on him and drug him up on Calpol if necessary Grin so sorry to hear about your DS, actually hurt my heart to read. Hope he's okay. Men can be total asshats sometimes Angry

@Daisyplain totally understand that, enjoy the cuddles! I've definitely forced myself to sit there despite being desperate for the toilet just to squeeze out all the cuddles I can, especially as DS is not cuddly at all...

Thanks for the snack advice all - I guess I will try and wean him off the baby crack and try to get him onto fruit and more filling stuff. He was following his curve at the HV appointment today so not worried about weight at least, but he's so active that he seems permanently starving and it's hard to figure out what to shove in him!

Hope everyone has a good night and that we all get granted some sleep...

pinklashes98 · 18/05/2021 22:35

Hi everyone, sorry for the late post have had a hectic day! Took toddler to little gym class, he was much happier as he had mummy all to himself. He was knackered and falling asleep in the car! Thought to myself brilliant will get home, feed baby and have a nap myself...nope! Toddler fell asleep after lunch & baby decided to feed and stay wide awake 😩

Just had some hot milk now as body has been aching all afternoon, similar to after pains but milder 🥴

Also just a quick question, I have about 20 plus pampers pure nappies size 1 going spare. Baby is a bit too big for them & more comfortable in size 2. Any idea what I could do them? They are out of the packet but unused.

Motherofmonsters · 19/05/2021 05:33

Nnnewww record! 20 minutes I managed in my own bed last night, split between 2 attempts. Absolutely ridiculous.

OhToBeASeahorse · 19/05/2021 07:18

@pinklashes98 does your home town have a facebook group for giving away free stuff? That's what I always do and even if they are opened people are always grateful for nappies.

Chocolatetrifle · 19/05/2021 07:48

@pinklashes98bwhwt about packaging them back up and putting in a food bank donation trolley in the supermarket? Would a charity shop take them?

@Motherofmonsters oh no, poor you. Can we help? Does DD want milk or cuddles or will just not settle in her cot after having a feed? It's terrible the night get ups especially when it's still going on when they are older babies. Know your DD is a
couple of months older than my DS2. My DS2 is waking about 4 times a night at the moment. He is getting molars. He's still having milk in the night from a bottle. Hope you are ok. Sending support.

Motherofmonsters · 19/05/2021 08:03

She just wants milk, although at one point she did ask for an apple and juice (very diluted squash) I didn't get it for her. I think she was having milk most of the night, she would have milk fall asleep and then wake up again after 5 mins. I really need to night wean again. I think it's her teeth as well.

squishymamma · 19/05/2021 08:11

Morning all.

@pinklashes98 second the give away on Facebook. I gave a load of size 1 nappies along with some Infacol to a random mum here who was desperate for the latter (which you can't buy in Norway) and she was really thankful - you know they'll get used Grin

@Motherofmonsters oh no I'm so sorry. The sleep deprivation for me is hands down the worst thing about parenting. I can deal (just about) with tantrums, poo explosions and whining, but if DS won't sleep I end up grumbling some pretty nasty things at him Confused then feel terrible afterwards of course. We're here to support you in any way we can!

We had a relatively calm night, DS was up 2-3 times I think, but then he got up at 5.30am despite still being tired so by the time we got to nursery he was just a ticking time bomb. And of course he had a meltdown when I handed him over. Didn't even feel guilty though, just said 'good luck' and cycled off Grin he'll have been fine 5 minutes later...hopefully...

OhToBeASeahorse · 19/05/2021 09:43

Oh @Motherofmonsters I'm sorry. Sleep is so so savage with small children.

DD has developed eczema on her neck and it's really causing her distress poor lamb

Also - this is the chin of my son. He's nearly 3. The amount of spit that comes out of him is mental. He is missing a front tooth. Does this look normal to anyone? He also suffers with eczema round his mouth. I'm starting to worry a bit.

Trapped toddler parents:"Where else can you post tuff tray pictures and moan about your husband?"
Chocolatetrifle · 19/05/2021 10:31

@OhToBeASeahorse, my DS1 can do spit like that when he decides to want to copy his brother's dribble.

Sorry to hear about DD's excema. I have bought Oilatum bath products for DS2 as he has dry skin, they are for excema and might help? Think they do a lotion.

Checkingout811 · 19/05/2021 11:54

Hi all, hope you’re all well. I haven’t posted since Friday. My head is all over the place. I’ve been feeling extremely sick since Wednesday so on Saturday I tested and I got a really faint positive.
I’m really upset and can’t think straight. We have DD 7 and then as I mentioned; our 2 boys aged 3 & 1. Our 3 year old is disabled.
I don’t know what I’m expecting from this post really, I just can’t stop crying.
I take my pill religiously, DH worked away majority of April so I can only put it down to 1 time.
Saw a thread yesterday were there appears to be a possible link between the AZ vaccine affecting the contraceptive pill.

QuantBear · 19/05/2021 12:30

Hi all I'm new here

I have a 3yearold DS. He's currently still in nappies and I tried to potty train him over easter but he just wasn't interested. Today when we got back from the school run he told me he needed a wee and he had a wee on the toiletSmile. He's still refusing to wear pants though so he's still wearing a pull up.

squishymamma · 19/05/2021 12:32

@OhToBeASeahorse DS looks like this when he's teething, or when he's had his dummy in too long. I'd just try to keep it dry (impossible I know) and try some Vaseline on it? Can't help with eczema products sadly, my sister used to use E45 cream...DS also has eczema but we get some random Norwegian cream on prescription so that's not helpful Grin

@Checkingout811 I can imagine there's a lot going on in your head right now. I didn't realise the vaccines could affect the pill - that's something that should definitely be publicised. Have you talked about it with your DH? Wish we could do something to help.

Checkingout811 · 19/05/2021 13:29

Thanks @squishymamma
We haven’t properly spoken as he’s away, he’s back tonight so once the DC are in bed we will have a good talk.
I feel horrendously sick, I had HG with our DD and feel the same this time.
I didn’t realise either and it definitely needs to be brought to public attention if they is any link whatsoever. I feel so lost.

squishymamma · 19/05/2021 13:57

@Checkingout811 let us know how you get on. It's awful having normal morning sickness, I can't even imagine HG Sad hopefully your chat tonight will help you figure out what you guys want to do.

Welcome @QuantBear!

OhToBeASeahorse · 19/05/2021 14:13

@Checkingout811 oh I'm so so sorry. What an awful situation for you to be in. What is your afternoon like? Are you able to do something alone ?

Checkingout811 · 19/05/2021 14:20

Thanks @OhToBeASeahorse the boys are both at nursery 8-4 on Wednesdays so I’ve spent the day being sick, laid on the sofa watching motherland and being sick some more.
Currently laid in bed crying. I just can’t believe it. Our DS1 is making such huge progress at the moment, we’ve just found him the perfect school after months of stress, our youngest is doing great and literally this past month DH and I have been saying how well things are coming together and how perfect our little family of 5 is and how much easier life is now the youngest is fully mobile & talking.
😭😭😭😭
Why

Lostthetastefordahlias · 19/05/2021 16:42

Non scented Flowers @Checkingout811 thinking of you. Sounds like you just need to get through the rest of the day taking it 15 mins at a time until you can talk this evening? This sounds stupid but when I had HG and I felt so down sometimes some positive music would sometimes make the current 15 mins go easier - hope getting everyone into bed isn't too much of a nightmare.
@squishymamma I have this snack issue with my 2 yr old & its doubly annoying as I end up spending loads on “healthy” snacks like organix when I would rather not give her snacks at all - however she is slightly underweight despite eating meals well and gets so hungry so it’s really hard to change it!
Welcome @QuantBear and good news on the training front!
We have done some baker ross kits this morning & now my mum has my baby ds so me & the DD are sitting on the sofa listening to an audiobook.

Checkingout811 · 19/05/2021 18:37

Thank you @Lostthetastefordahlias that was really good advice. I played some music, and once all the DC were collected for school & nursery it was making dinner & getting pyjamas ready so I haven’t had time to think.
The boys are just in the bath, DD is reading so I’m having a tidy and then DH and I can chat.
He came in from work and gave me a massive hug which just made me cry again.
I really don’t think I can do this.
