@OhToBeASeahorse I think I would actually crack up if I had another baby to be fair!

I did this with DD before we upped the sleep training, it definitely helped with getting her to accept even just being in her cot!!

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.motherandbaby.co.uk/amp/first-year/baby/sleep/get-a-full-night-s-sleep-in-just-10-days

Hi @Daisyplain baby group sounds good. It’s just nice to see other people again!!

@Checkingout811 sounds like a plan! Hope you have a good night! We’ve got a couple of overdue family parties coming up, BBQ’s and I can’t wait!

Camomila · 14/05/2021 17:55

@Checkingout811 I'm down in Brighton.

Just finished work, everyone is back from nursery/after school club and DH is cooking us fried breakfast for dinner Smile

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 19:33

Night weaning is off tonight, picked DD up from the in-laws and she was a tired and teething mess. I don't think it will go very well if I try it now.

Sounds like there's some lovely plans for this evening happening. DH isn't looking much better than DD so he'll be off to bed in a minute. Looks like I'll be eating biscuits binging TV by myself

MonkeyPuddle · 14/05/2021 20:30

@Camomila I had my honeymoon in Brighton! We ate paella, drank lots of wine and just wandered around exploring, it was a lovely time.

@Motherofmonsters sounds sensible to knock it on the head for the night. We did exactly the same with DD, she had a tooth coming through, left it til it was out and the gum had gone from red to pink and the restarted.

squishymamma · 15/05/2021 04:58

Welcome @Daisyplain and @OiYouGetOffMyCloud!

Hope everyone had an alright night's sleep. I conked in front of the TV at 8pm and it's a good job I did because there were night wakings and now we're up at 5.30am again...I've put Peppa Pig on because I just need 10 minutes to actually wake up!!

Anyone have any nice plans for today? I need to actually mop our floors, they're disgusting. Might take DS back to this new playground we discovered just to get some peace Grin

Motherofmonsters · 15/05/2021 06:26

Disaster night here, DD spent most of it screaming and I didn't know how to help her. She wanted milk but didn't, wanted cuddles but didn't and on it went. I've woken DH up to take her downstairs as I just want to spend some time in my bed.

Park sounds like a good plan @squishymama. I managed to do my floors yesterday, it's a good sense of achievement. I hate doing it, mostly because it takes me ages to clear the floor of toys before I can do it.

Not sure our plan for the day depends on how DH and DD are feeling and when MIL returns DS.

Camomila · 15/05/2021 07:59

Aah sorry to hear that motherofmonsters

We're off to the hairdressers today for both DC. I'll miss DS2s little bob but it's in his eyes and people keep getting embarrassed when I correct them he's a boy Grin

MonkeyPuddle · 15/05/2021 08:05

@Motherofmonsters god love, sounds bloody shite. Will you have time/chance for a nap/a break later on?

@Camomila hopefully this is the end of lockdown hairdos! DS has curly ginger hair and his lockdown bush was intense 😂

I’ve just reminded DP that I’ve got a KIT shift this afternoon and the colour drained from his face, he had completely forgotten, despite the fact it’s on the calendar.

squishymamma · 15/05/2021 08:39

@Motherofmonsters ah no, that sounds really rough. People talk loads about how magical night feeds are when it's just you two awake, but nobody really mentions those nights where they just won't/can't settle and you've run out of options. Sending lots of strong coffee your way and hope you get chance to have a nap!

@Camomila I get the same confusion with DS but I just can't bring myself to cut it yet, it'll be his first ever haircut and I just think he looks cute!! It's not getting in his eyes yet though, think I'll finally have to cave when that happens.

We're risking it for a biscuit and giving DS 2 naps today (he usually only gets 1 at nursery)...we may have shot ourselves in the foot for tonight's sleep but it's nice to have a breather a little earlier in the morning!

squishymamma · 15/05/2021 08:41

@MonkeyPuddle great reaction from the DP, I love that realisation when they're like "and I'm parenting solo..." Grin my DH does a great job of pretending he's going to have a fun time and I go along with it because I'm not giving up my precious alone time!

Motherofmonsters · 15/05/2021 11:20

Can't get DD down for her nap gah, I was looking forward to an hour's peace. It must be her teeth as I've been through this cycle before, not napping, being clingy.

Daisyplain · 15/05/2021 11:25

@Motherofmonsters sorry to hear you had a crappy night! Hope you manage a little rest today!

@squishymamma not much planned for today. Had a pub lunch booked outside but it’s chucked it down and don’t fancy that at all so I’ve cancelled. Was looking forward to it but might try again once we’re allowed inside which is from Monday I believe. Haven’t been out to eat with DS much thanks to covid but at home I have to shovel fast before he tries to eat all my food 🙄
Been looking for wedding dresses this morning and ordered a couple to try on but I feel like I fat pancake since having DS so not sure I’ll like anything.

@Checkingout811 How was your night out?? Hope you had fun!

@Camomila
good luck with the haircuts! When do kids need their first haircut? DS’s hair is getting in his eyes a tiny bit but he seems too young for a haircut and I love his hair too much ...

mummog · 15/05/2021 11:50

@Motherofmonsters

Can't get DD down for her nap gah, I was looking forward to an hour's peace. It must be her teeth as I've been through this cycle before, not napping, being clingy.
My DS does that too but Ashton and Parson's sachet's work wonders on him. He's come to associate the taste with relief and it works so fast now!
Chocolatetrifle · 15/05/2021 13:13

@Motherofmonsters, oh no, sorry you had a bad night. Did you manage to get DD to nap before? My DS2 is the same at the moment all teething and clingy and crying.

@MonkeyPuddle,. Hope your KIT day goes well. Have you enjoyed being back in? I'm sure DP is holding the fort well while you are out.

@Camomila, hope the haircuts turn out well.

@squishymamma, sorry you had a disturbed night and early start too. Did you make it to the playground?

@Daisyplain, Oooh wedding dresses, how lovely. When are you planning on getting married?

It's been a funny morning here, it's raining of course. dS1 banged his face getting in his car seat this morning. He's got a red mark and bruise but will he fine So we've had a quiet morning with lots of Tele and a cbeebies magazine. dS2 is napping and I'm just dyeing my roots while DS1 is with DH.

Motherofmonsters · 15/05/2021 14:00

@mummog thank you I will have a look for them.

She finally just fell asleep on me so I've had some nice snuggles.

Motherofmonsters · 15/05/2021 14:03

Hope the haircut goes okay @camomila, I had DS's done a couple weeks back, he looked so much older!

Hope your KIT day is going well @monkeypuddle, I'm sure the kids are having a great time with DP

squishymamma · 15/05/2021 14:48

@Motherofmonsters glad you got some snuggles and a bit of a rest, always makes things feel better!

@Daisyplain good luck finding a dress! My friends all went to multiple consultations but I just found a shop, went in and bought one I thought looked alright Grin it's a shame it all has to be online and socially distanced atm, but hope you find one you love!

@Chocolatetrifle sorry to hear DS1 had a bit of a bump, but glad he's alright. Sometimes a quiet morning is just what you need! And so good you have time to dye your roots, I should really cut my fringe but all I have are nail scissors...

We did indeed make it to the playground, once DS started banging on the front door (I think he was fed up of being stuck inside). He had great fun pushing his pram all over the place and was not really interested in much else. Then we did the big shop and it was crazy busy, DS did not appreciate being trapped in the trolley seat so there was a lot of loud protesting. But we made it round and now DH is putting him down for a second nap while I conk out on the couch and work up the energy to make dinner...what a boring day Grin

squishymamma · 15/05/2021 14:50

Also can I just say that I love this phase where they've just learned to walk and they're stumbling around like drunk people? Was coming in to the entrance of our block, and DS comes swaying towards me with a half-eaten bun in his hand, lets out a huge burp, falls over just inside the entrance, then begins to go up the steps before steadying himself to have another bite of his bun. I feel like I'm back at university...

Chocolatetrifle · 15/05/2021 20:05

The relief it is bedtime tonight is immense. It's rained ALL day, DS1 has been arguing with me all day. I don't know where he is getting such an attitude, it's really draining. He hardly listens to me and feel like he's taking no notice. dS2 is definitely not a baby anymore and it makes me feel strange! He's 18 months next month and I think where has that time gone? Most of it in a lockdown!

Hope everyone has a better sleep tonight.

Mummy0220 · 15/05/2021 20:08

How have I only just found this thread. I have a 15 month old and a 10 week old

Lostthetastefordahlias · 15/05/2021 20:29

Hello all just having a blissful catchup of this thread with a glass of sauv, DH is camping with friends in the rain & DD&DS sleeping. Have not been posting much due to the sheer tedium of daily life lately, been on a bad streak of being inside with them too much & feeling like I’m going to have a NB by 4pm each day, but determined next week will be better. I am in Essex, just to answer the q upthread.
Excited for some dress chat @Daisyplain! Hope you had a great night @Checkingout811. How is weaning going @OhToBeASeahorse? Hope you are ok @Motherofmonsters and this rough patch with DD improves soon - second the ashton & parsons suggestion my Ds loves them (DD didnt, but worth a try!).
Welcome @Mummy0220 and congrats on your little one.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 15/05/2021 20:31

I meant to say NIGHT weaning @OhToBeASeahorse!

pinklashes98 · 15/05/2021 20:34

Hi everyone! Came across this thread last night and it's amazing! I'm a mum to a nearly 2 year old and my have just had another bubba who is now 5 weeks! I have to say it's been a very emotional rollercoaster so far! Lots of mum guilt about not giving toddler enough attention and little one has colic which has made him very unhappy 😟😟 trying my best to get through it! Would love to be part of the thread please ☺️

footprintsintheslow · 15/05/2021 20:37

Just catching up with the thread and it all sounds monstrous with night wakings and teeth and rain.

We've had a lovely day out at a local farm and Manor House place. Took enough food that it was straight to bed when we got home for the toddler only for the baby to scream uncontrollably for two hours. She's just stopped now and is still having shudders in her sleep.

Let's hope for restful nights now for everyone.

Welcome @Mummy0220
