@MonkeyPuddle there's little love or enthusiasm for a balance bike and scooter here too

@Checkingout811 welcome back lovely. I'm on Wales but I think there's a few northerners here. Our soft play is May 14th or 17th. Hopefully yours is soon.

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 08:27

@Checkingout811 welcome 😊, I have a 3.5 year old and 17 month old, both boys, and know what you mean. Both want to go in different directions at the moment and they are both so quick. I'm from the North West, near Liverpool. Up at 5.30 today, they have spent that time since winding each other up. Just got the cheese toastie machine out for a bit of entertainment so filling up on cheese on toast and then will probably go the playground.

How is everyone today?

squishymamma · 14/05/2021 08:58

@Checkingout811 originally from Lancashire, kinda inbetween Manchester and Liverpool, but moved to Oslo 5 years ago. I do miss northerners...

We had a fun night, DS was up and ready for the day at like 2.30am so we moved to the sofa bed and I tried to sleep while being repeatedly sat on and kicked in the ribs. He finally passed out again like an hour and a half later. Up again at 5.45am so feeling a bit zombified today - thank God nursery is open! We've got a long weekend ahead of us, yet another public holiday on Monday then a visit to the health clinic and vaccines on Tuesday which obviously means that DS will be out of kilter for a while (it's the MMR one and I've heard they can get ill for like a week or two after) so making the most of a peaceful day today...

To balance out the negativity in the above paragraph - DS has now learned to give kisses and so I get a face squished into mine in the mornings going "mwah mwah" and that actually makes it all worth it Grin

Morning everyone, as predicted I slept in a chair last night however it was mostly my fault as I kept falling asleep between DD stopping feeding and me moving. DS was awake at 4.30 but stayed really quiet in his room until 6.30 so I can live with that.

DS is at preschool for the morning and I've just been to toddler group with DD she loved it and we had a look around the nursery as she's going to do one day a week in September. DD was right at home and kept wanting a cuddle from the manager so I think she'll be happy.

Unfortunately there isn't enough time.to go home before I pick DS up so Ive had to come to McDonalds to kill some time

I'm in Cornwall, I seem to be quite a way away from everyone else

squishymamma · 14/05/2021 11:23

@Motherofmonsters so good to hear DD liked her future nursery! I feel that really helps us as well as them when it's time to say goodbye Grin

Now I really want a McDonald's cheeseburger...

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 14:04

MIL just messaged to ask if I wanted a couple hours to myself as she'll take the kids out, I don't think the answer will ever be no

Checkingout811 · 14/05/2021 14:07

@Motherofmonsters that is lovely of her! What will you do with your time?

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 14:24

@checkingout1811 - I'll do my obligatory tidying, putting the hoover around and then sitting on the sofa eating snack and drinking tea!

MonkeyPuddle · 14/05/2021 15:14

Afternoon all.

@Checkingout811 I’m over the border in Best Yorkshire, sorry, West Yorkshire Grin

@footprintsintheslow yeah I don’t really know what to do about it, other than just carrying the scooter round the park. He only really will try new stuff if he sees other kids doing it so I’m just holding my horses.

@Chocolatetrifle ooh love a cheese toastie, mature cheddar and red onion. Takes me back to being little, we’d have it for lunch on Sundays after getting in from church.

@Motherofmonsters you deserve every second of sitting with your feet up! Don’t do too much housework, spend the time on you. How good the DD liked the nursery!

DS is at nursery today, so it’s just me and DS at home, well DP is working upstairs, he’s been out for his first covid jab and has booked a Dr spot to request referral for getting the snip. It’s the right thing to do for our family and we both agree on it, but bugger me, I’m a bit sad about it. I think deep down I want another baby, we just can’t afford one, not with needing a bigger car, childcare fees etc. Hey ho. He’s promised me some wine and a cuddle while I have a cry about it tonight.

Weather is looking shit tomorrow, not sure what the plan is, depends on if DP reacts to the jab. He bloody best not do.
Might set up a car wash station, saw it online, water and cocoa powder in a tray, bubbly water in another and a tea towel.

MonkeyPuddle · 14/05/2021 15:18

Also DD had now reached the stage where I can’t take my bloody eyes off her Grin

drumst1ck · 14/05/2021 15:39

Manchester here, a true northern girl!

@MonkeyPuddle that sounds really tough, have a good cry and all the wine you need!

Park this morning and a toddler class this afternoon. I was really proud of DD, she listened and copied a lot of the actions/activities for the first time (she normally just legs it round throwing stuff about) and hormonal me nearly cried I was so proud. So stupid!

Some hey duggee now we're back while I try and work up the energy to sort tea out. It's some sort of unlabelled, unknown frozen delicacy that I obviously batch cooked before DS arrived. Love a good mystery tea.

OhToBeASeahorse · 14/05/2021 15:52

@MonkeyPuddle DH and I are having the same chat. We could financially afford 3 but I'm not sure I could emotionally. But... it's hard to say 'done' isn't it? I'd love a firstborn again. That quiet lovely time when it's just you and a baby. DH said that given we are programmed to procreate it's only normal to feel at best mixed about it!
So the consensus on the outdoor equipment seems to be that they dislike whichever one we buy...! I've got a trike he has never tried so I'll put that together and see where we go.

I decided enough is enough with the sleep situation and I'm trying to night wean DD. I also stopped cosleeping last night. She woke up more than 10 times (I stopped counting) but she went back in her cot every time. I fed twice. Going to try and cut that down to once tonight.

I'm in Kent - we couldn't seem to be more spread out!

Daisyplain · 14/05/2021 16:04

Hi everyone, could I join please?
I haven’t read the previous threads though - sorry!
I have a 15mo DS who is going through a phase of having 0 love for me but as soon as daddy comes home it’s all laughs and giggles. He’s started walking so it’s head bang city at home at the moment.
I’m booked in my first ever baby class next week! It’s a bit of a drive but all the ones in my town are on my working days. Not sure what to expect but it’ll get me out at least!

OhToBeASeahorse · 14/05/2021 16:11

Hi @Daisyplain! Welcome! What's the group?

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 16:37

@ohtobeaseahorse I'm night weaning tonight to! MIL asked if DS can stay hers so I don't have to worry about him being woken up. We can go through it together

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 16:38

@drumst1ck, I worked in Manchester city centre for 13 years, I love Manchester!

Sun is out here now so out in the garden, hoping all the mud pools dry out but it's forecast rain this weekend so unlikely. DS1 has already been in the mud pool this morning... dS2 currently trying to put the tortoise down the toddler slide.

@Motherofmonsters, hope you enjoy your break, put the hoover away!

@MonkeyPuddle, ah, it's hard to have that conversation and hard to make that decision.

@OhToBeASeahorse, good luck with the night weaning, one night at a time and fingers crossed you will get it sorted.

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 16:43

@Daisyplain welcomeSmile

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 16:45

Welcome @daisyplain!

A real tortoise @chocolatetrifle?

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 16:45

@Motherofmonsters, good luck with your night weaning 🤞

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 16:47

@Motherofmonsters yes 🐢 a real one! We've had him/her about 6 years!

Motherofmonsters · 14/05/2021 16:48

Amazing @chocolatetrifle, do they make good pets? I've always been intrigued by them

OiYouGetOffMyCloud · 14/05/2021 16:56

Afternoon all - I’m a Manchester sahm of a 6yo ds and 22 month old ds. She’s a diva! Her favorite phrase is currently ‘stop it!!’ So that’s nice.

Mine are both IVF babies so I know we’re fine! Takes any thought out of it.

Nice to join you all!

OiYouGetOffMyCloud · 14/05/2021 16:56

*done not ‘fine’...

Checkingout811 · 14/05/2021 16:57

Good luck with the night weaning ladies!
MIL is coming rounr soon to watch the DC, me and DH off out for drinks tonight 🎉🎉🥂. First time we’ve been out together in over 2 years as our DS1 doesn’t settle anywhere else and won’t sleep out.

Chocolatetrifle · 14/05/2021 17:22

@Motherofmonsters, they are surprisingly affectionate! Great pets, ours loves roaming outside and eating our dandelions!

@Checkingout811 have a great night out!

@OiYouGetOffMyCloud welcome 😊.

I'm thinking of taking the boys to the playground after tea whilst it's still nice. 3 playgrounds in one day, think that might be my record.

Tonight I plan to lock myself in the bathroom once boys are in bed and create a home spa environment.
