@chocolatetrifle, possibly I thought we were getting to the end of teeth though. Hope your washing finishes soon.

I wish there was a drive thru coffee and cake shop around here, I really fancy a ridiculously rich brownie or chocolate cake

PinkDaydreams · 13/05/2021 11:42

@MonkeyPuddle that's hilarious regarding your lace knickers! I've noticed since motherhood that I love a big comfy granny pant now!

@Motherofmonsters yes I know what you mean about getting out the house, we have to get out in the morning but most of the time I have no idea where to go! I've booked the museum for two mornings next week which I'm very excited about!

@Chocolatetrifle we started walking to the library this morning but it poured down with rain! We'd I my been out the house 5 mins and its another 20 mins walk so I turned round! Rain meant to go off soon so I'll try again this afternoon, although the library closes at 3pm since covid.

@Chocolatetrifle that sounds lovely! Car picnics are great especially if the weather isn't amazing. And I could definitely use lots of cake, I miss a good chocolate gateau...

We had a nice morning outside going on the slide and playing in the sand, all shattered now and DS is down for his nap so I'm having a cheeky coffee and watching trash TV. And ignoring the total chaos and mess that surrounds me Grin

@Motherofmonsters, it's awful when you get that need for chocolate and there isn't anything in the house.

@PinkDaydreams, that's great you have two museums booked, your DS will love them. DH wants to take DS1 to the big Liverpool museum soon. Hope you make it to the library. We were there this morning and the lady closed off a separate room and said to my DS1 when he tried to get in, 'that's where all the contaminated books go'!Confused.

@squishymamma get your feet up and make the most of that nap!

Agree to the big knickers, especially after two c-sections! That's hilarious @MonkeyPuddle that you are out in your sexy pants!

It's pouring down and I get somewhat stressed at the thought of being indoors all afternoon with DS1 and DS2 so we will go to the garden centre and meet my sister so will have a bit of reinforcement.

PinkDaydreams · 13/05/2021 12:51

@Chocolatetrifle that's the museum I've booked, the liverpool world museum! Booked two days as he loves it there, he'd happily visit every day! Which garden centre are you going to?

Got us ready to walk back to the library again but it's started raining!! Checked the forecast and it's meant to be cloudy not, it's not meant to rain till later.

@PinkDaydreams, we've got 2 big garden centres just down the road so one of those. We've never been to the Liverpool World Museum so you'll have to let us know what it's like. I'm sure you'll have a great time and DS too. Plus you can't beat the gift shops Smile. Apparently there's a transport museum in St Helens we might take a look at at some point.

footprintsintheslow · 13/05/2021 13:17

@OhToBeASeahorse this is where you need to be. Venting and groaning is our forté. Any improvement today?

@Motherofmonsters life is horrific at times parenting isn't it. I'm glad you are here telling us about it.

I'm sorry everyone is having a tough time. It's shit here too. I feel like my daughter is ruling the roost here and I have zero control over her. Ive hoped it's a phase but 4 months in I'm scared I'm creating a monster.

On the plus side I had my vaccine today and those 15 minutes of waiting were incredible. I felt like feigning an episode so they'd keep me longer.
I've also popped into Next and bought some new tops to brighten up my life.

footprintsintheslow · 13/05/2021 13:20

@squishymamma what trashy tv are you into. Before I parented a toddler I loved documentaries and crime dramas and intelligent tv. Now I just want to watch every episode of Married at first sight Australia

OhToBeASeahorse · 13/05/2021 14:03

@footprintsintheslow that's kind but you are all aceing this! (Is that how you spell that?!)

Yay for vaccine!

@MonkeyPuddle please report back about the sexy nix have changed your day - is this a depressing reminder of your free life or an easy way of perking up your day?

Where does everyone stand on the scooter or balance bike situation? DS (will be 3 in September)
has a scooter but I bascially carry the damn thing round 90% of the time.

DH had taught him how to use the Nespresso machine so now my toddler can make me a coffee in the mornings Grin (disclaimer - he is obviously supervised!)

drumst1ck · 13/05/2021 15:25

Apologies, dropped off the thread for a bit! Catching up now while I wait for my appointment to register DS birth. DD is with grandparents so I'm sat on a bench in peace with a cup of coffee and a sleeping child. Newborns are great.

Feeling slightly more back on track the last day or so, a clean (ish) house and slightly more sleep from DS make for a happy me. DD I think has her last molars coming through though so she's been quite unreasonable recently. Poor thing wouldn't sleep last night unless her arm was wrapped in a chokehold around my neck.

Due to go to see DH's parents for at least a week on Monday when restrictions change. They are across the border and we haven't seen them for nearly a year. They're wonderfully hands on and lovely so I'm looking forward to my mini break. Things are looking up!

Hope you've all been having a good week so far!

squishymamma · 13/05/2021 15:26

@footprintsintheslow we are pretty limited here as I don't have UK TV and Norwegians don't seem to enjoy trash TV (something I will never understand) but I'm a big fan of the documentary scene - right now I've got on that Chris Tarrant railway one (Extreme Railway Journeys or something like that). Also enjoy a bit of Yes to the Dress and those housing shows like Location Location Location Grin

@OhToBeASeahorse I need to get on that coffee making thing, sounds like an amazing idea! We're moving apartment next month and will have a lovely outdoor area so we'll be buying our soon 15 month old a kind of balance bike we've seen in a shop near us, with 4 wheels. There's a grubby tricycle outside our current block of flats and he LOVES it but it's a bit big for him so I reckon he'll use the balance bike a fair bit...until the excitement wears off I imagine Grin

We've just been to yet another playground and now have a super tired DS that we need to keep awake for another 2 hours...send help. Have decided on takeaway when he's finally in bed though and I can't wait!!

Camomila · 13/05/2021 15:38

@OhToBeASeahorse DS1 never got on with the balance bike but loved the scooter and normal bike with stabilizers. He also had a fancy German tricycle he could go really far/fast on (£3 at a car boot sale!)
DS2 likes to stand on the mini skateboard Grin but isn't bothered about the scuttleug.

I really want some skates for myself as there's a veledrome 5mins up the road.

MonkeyPuddle · 13/05/2021 15:50

@OhToBeASeahorse my sexy nic are a reminder that DP is shit on purpose at household tasks sometimes. I’ve got the Ferber sleep book if you want it? I’ll happily pop it in the post for you. It’s what I used.

DS had a balance bike and refuses to use it, it goes too fast apparently despite never travelling more than 3 feet on it. He’s got a scooter and seems to be doing the same thing with that. I’m going to get him a bike with stabilisers on in the summer.

We went to the park, the BBC weather app needs bloody reporting, said it was going to stay dry and rain this evening, we were there 20 mins and it tipped it down. Wet through to my sexy nix and now we’re home, so have put my pjs on.

Also spunked £17 in B&M in a bid to escape the rain.

@footprintsintheslow yay for vaccine! I’m doing another vaccine clinic at the weekend, it’s such a nice gig.

@drumst1ck welcome back ☺️ Your mini break sounds fab! I hope you enjoy every second of it.

We’re having that feta cheese and cherry tomato pasta from the internet for tea tonight, minimal prep, quick to cook, DS eats it despite not liking tomatoes.

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 16:04

We've just got back from going to the bike trail with DS's balance bike, he loves his. He's got quite fast going down hills and has mastered the break. I picked up a bike with peddles of Facebook last week so I'm hoping to try him on that soon. He's not as keen on his scooter and mostly just messes about with it. I've just messaged DH asking him to try and leave on time today, he's been over an hour late everyday.

DD is playing Duplo while watching Mothergoose club and DD is sat at the table watching paw patrol on the tablet and playing kinetic sand. I'm in the kitchen 'cooking' (totally not hiding)

Chocolatetrifle · 13/05/2021 16:18

dS1 had a balance bike but never used it. Got him a bike with stabilisers for his 3rd birthday and has hardly used it, it seems hard for him to move the peddles round. My parents have got him a 3 wheel trike with chunky wheels which he loves and can use himself and move the peddles too so that's progress and he's now trying to put on his helmet when he previously refused to put one on. He has a scooter too which he can now use fine.

Back from garden centre, bought 2 balls and a packet of bubbles so typical garden centre products. Went out in the garden (Grass with large mud pools) for a bit, Tele on now and looking forward to bedtime.

Hope everyone is getting through this wet day ok.

Chocolatetrifle · 13/05/2021 16:26

@drumst1ck, it's emotional registering the birth and getting the certificate I think! Hope you have a lovely mini-break, sit back and get your in-laws to do all the entertaining!

OhToBeASeahorse · 13/05/2021 18:47

@drumst1ck ah the dream! Hope you have a fabulous time.

@MonkeyPuddle thank you. I'm not sure I've the stomach for Ferber yet but I'll bear it in mind. I'm going to try and not feed her between now and midnight to try and ease the ridiculous 2 hourly feeding sessions

squishymamma · 13/05/2021 19:08

@drumst1ck love grandparents, wish we lived closer to mine because I literally can lounge about while they entertain DS! And congrats on the registration, always makes me feel like I now have a legitimate baby...

@MonkeyPuddle I'm not telling DH about the sexy nix trick because we'd never have any clean clothes Grin though tbf not a lot goes on in that area nowadays so he probably wouldn't even notice if I put on mine!

@Motherofmonsters sounds like heaven, 'cooking' in peace. Hope they left you to it for a long time!

We caved and put DS to bed before 6pm when his usual bedtime is around 7...then ate so much takeaway pizza I feel legitimately ill. So dreading tonight but at the same time these few hours of silence make it oh so worth it Smile

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 19:20

I think my boobs have gone off or something, a couple times DD has unlatched and really started crying. She had a cup of cow's milk after lunch instead earlier. She back on now after reacting like I had hurt her

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 19:57

Early night predictions are I will spend zero time in my bed tonight. It's because I changed the bed and DD knows I like nothing more than fresh bedding

Checkingout811 · 13/05/2021 20:03

Hi everyone. Can I join. Maybe rejoin? I think I possibly contributed to the first ever thread but I honestly can’t remember properly now.

Anyway; here I am. I’ve 2 boys; 3.5 with ASD & GDD and a 21 month old.
Eldest is now in nursery 3 days a week which is a nice break, youngest does 1 day a week at the moment.
Anyone know indoor stuff ie soft play opens?

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 20:06

Welcome @checkingout811. I think they open on Monday? I'm not 100% sure as I don't go to them as DS needs supervising in the soft play and I'm very tall.

Checkingout811 · 13/05/2021 20:25

Thank you @Motherofmonsters

To be honest, I think they’ll be a thing of the past for me. DS1 needs constant supervision and now DS2 is into everything I don’t think it’ll be possible.
Recently found a park thats always empty with gates that lock so we’ve spent 9 of the last 14 days there 😂😂

squishymamma · 13/05/2021 20:36

Welcome welcome @Checkingout811! I don't know how I would survive without nursery, it's such a godsend. We discovered a new play area today (no locks though, but my DS can't run yet - still in the tiny drunk person stage) and I think that will be our weekend hideout...

Checkingout811 · 13/05/2021 20:42

Thank you @squishymamma it really is. I found the first lockdown okay, DS2 was just crawling and the weather was lovely. But my DS1 additional needs are becoming more apparent and DS2 is into everything now and I do have days where I sit and want to cry!

Today they both napped at the same time for an hour so that was bliss.

New play area sounds great!
