Necessary wine today.

Feeling a bit glum I think. Not sure why, just one of those days/evenings where I need to be a bit gentle with myself.

Went to the baby sensory place, was nice, they had lots of lovely lights, bubble tubes with fish in, basket of sanitised toys. DD did a spectacular vomit 😂 not sure I’ll go back, as nice as it was it was £6.50 which I thought was rather pricey.

Hope we are all well.

squishymamma · 12/05/2021 19:31

@MonkeyPuddle sorry to hear that. But also totally understand, we've all had those days. Hope you get a quiet night with no antics from little ones...

The sensory place sounds interesting, but yeah I don't think I'd be spending so much on that either...unless it was my only way of getting out of the house in which case my payment threshold is high Grin

It's been a relatively quiet day here thankfully, we're in Norway and all the nurseries are open so DS has been there all day eating his weight in sand, apparently. Maybe that's why he decided to purposely drop his dinner off the side of his tray bit by bit whilst giving us a kind of insane maniac grin...

Camomila · 12/05/2021 19:45

Enjoy your wine @MonkeyPuddle I think we all have those days occasionally.

I'm feeling happy today because the plumber came today to install our new toilet (old one had started leaking) - its literally the most exciting thing to happen all week/month.

Off to wrestle DC into baths/pjs/do DS1s reading book. Wish I had some wine tbh!

@squishmamma Can I ask you a very random question about Norway - are there any road trains? My DS1 is obsessed with the documentary "ice road rescue" on Disney+ which is set in Norway.

(Not actually a kids show, pre-watch the episodes if you are going to let DC watch)

Chocolatetrifle · 12/05/2021 19:51

@MonkeyPuddle ahh, hope you are ok. Is anything on your mind? Glass of wine sounds good though. Did you get some decent sleep?
The sensory class sounds lovely btw.

We've not done much today. Playground visit first thing for an hour then pottered about in the garden for a bit. Attempted some art with the boys and got some glitter out, got a couple of pictures for the wall, to be fair most of it went on DS2's head.

Nipped to the shop this afternoon. Went to the same playground after tea ( it's about a 3 min walk from our house) then the heavens opened with hailstones. Garden has now gone back to grass with large mud pools in after it had dried out, I don't like large mud pools, my boys do though.

Chocolatetrifle · 12/05/2021 19:53

@squishymamma, I love that you are in Norway. Seems very exciting compared to North West England!

squishymamma · 12/05/2021 20:08

@Camomila I had to Google that because I had no idea what a road train is! My (Norwegian) husband says yes but no more than 2 trailers, and I'm sure I've seen those in the UK...
I'd also definitely celebrate over a fixed toilet, nobody wants to mop up pond water all the time Grin

@Chocolatetrifle even though it's murder to clean up I loooooove glitter! So much fun, and brings back many memories. It's been pouring down here too, so really not as exciting as you imagine Grin my DS loves the mud too, it's the first thing he aims for when we get outside. Trying to embrace it and mentally prepare myself for all the 'mud cakes' we'll be making when he's a bit older!

squishymamma · 12/05/2021 20:08

@Chocolatetrifle also I'm originally from the North West too, do miss it every now and then Smile

MonkeyPuddle · 12/05/2021 20:12

Ah ladies, you are a lovely bunch. DP’s seen that I’m struggling a bit today, he’s made tea and brought me a cornetto, he knows how to make me happy!

DD went to sleep beautifully again, I am LOVING sleep training. It’s honestly, completely and utterly changed my life for the better.

Tomorrow’s plans are toys in the morning (going to get out the magnet fishing and jigsaws again) gymnastics, home for lunch and the park/library depending on if it’s raining or not. Or both. I think the library might be out new weekly thing before school starts.

Chocolatetrifle · 12/05/2021 21:35

@Camomila, glad you got the toilet sorted. Nothing worse than a leaky loo. My DS1 flushed some underpants down the toilet here a few weeks ago, dreading to see if it would block, fingers crossed all ok thus far.

@squishymamma, 👋 hello fellow north westerner! I love sand play, even water play on the right day but I don't like mud at all!

@MonkeyPuddle, chin up girl, it's just one of those days. Remember how fab you said you felt when your DS was helping another boy on the playground, think of that moment again and once you've got your head down and you get some sleep hopefully you will feel better tomorrow. Sounds like you have a lovely day planned for tomorrow. Remember, you can do it mama, sending you a hug.

OhToBeASeahorse · 12/05/2021 21:36

@MonkeyPuddle hope you feel better after a good nights sleep.

I need to do something about DD's sleep. Its literally ruining my life.

Chocolatetrifle · 12/05/2021 22:00

@OhToBeASeahorse how are you and how is your DD's sleep going? Can we help?

OhToBeASeahorse · 12/05/2021 22:05

Hey @Chocolatetrifle. Honestly I think I might withdraw for a little bit. I've actually had a good day with DS as DH could take the baby for naps. But I'm becoming so miserable with the sleep situation. I just dont have any life at all and it's really affecting me and DH. But I dont want to drag you all down!

Chocolatetrifle · 12/05/2021 22:13

@OhToBeASeahorse, no dragging anyone down on here so don't worry! Glad you've had a good day with your DS, that's really positive.

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 02:54

4 hours I've been trying to get DD back to sleep, it's impossible. She just wants to roll around on me grabbing my face. I just want to get in my car and drive off a cliff, I feel so trapped. Tomorrow is going to be an awful day

squishymamma · 13/05/2021 06:46

@OhToBeASeahorse definitely not dragging us down! I at least have been there (and sometimes still am) and am happy to hear all ranting/despairing. If there's any way we can help do let us know!

@Motherofmonsters totally feel this too, hope it went well in the end and you all got some sleep!

We had a bit of a rough night too, they had a party at nursery with lots of crap food (think ice cream, hot dogs etc) so DS's stomach was all over the place and he was squiggling round like a worm half the night (and obviously couldn't do so alone in the comfort of his own cot). We're heading out to the play area the minute we've had breakfast and gotten dressed...he's off nursery today as it's a public holiday!

Hope you all have lovely days!

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 07:29

I managed a couple hours, feeling a bit sick this morning but I'm sure it'll pass when I get going a bit more.

That's a very organised to get out the door so early @squishymama. We rarely make it out in the morning.

Chocolatetrifle · 13/05/2021 07:49

@Motherofmonsters, oh no, how awful. Hope you are ok? Days after those nights are so hard. Plenty of caffeine needed. Is DD ok?

Camomila · 13/05/2021 08:06

@squishymamma thanks for finding out for me.

Oh my goodness, I hate teeth. Poor DS2 screamed in my arms from 8pm - 9.30pm, calpol and teething gel did nada, and the emergency ice lolly got thrown across the room. He eventually just crashed out while being rocked infront of ITNG. He's woken up all nice and perky luckily.

squishymamma · 13/05/2021 08:14

Wishes and realities you know @Motherofmonsters...he's been dressed at least half an hour but I'm still in my PJs trying to motivate myself to make a move.

Sorry to hear you feel bad! Fingers crossed the sleep your DD got is enough to keep her somewhat happy and that you get time to have a nice cup of tea/coffee/other hot beverage! Smile

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 08:41

Thank you, they are both quietly eating plain wraps that DS wanted for breakfast. I've got a coffee and am trying to make no sudden movements in case they remember I'm here. DD is fine, her usual jolly self. I think I need to take them out for some proper fresh air, not sure where though

OhToBeASeahorse · 13/05/2021 08:49

@Motherofmonsters I'm sorry. Sleep deprivation is awful. You're amazing to still have a sense of humour

MonkeyPuddle · 13/05/2021 09:53

Do we need to crack out wine this morning? I will happily pour.

@OhToBeASeahorse please don’t feel like you need to step back, this is a place where you can talk about everything and nothing

@Motherofmonsters for that sounds torture, any reason for the no sleep? Dry wraps is full of complex carbs, nice slow release energy while you drink several coffees 😂

@Camomila bloody teeth! I love the emergency ice pop idea. Even if it didn’t work I’m stealing that idea for future use!

DD woke hungry at 3am and wouldn’t go back down til 6, DS was up at 7, we are tired today. DD has mastered rolling so now I can’t take my eyes off her.

Currently trapped in small world games hell, DD is busy rolling and puking on the carpet while DS says ‘no mummy not like that, like this’ a million times while we play with the fucking transformers, octonauts and a fire station.

DP does the laundry, well the washing and drying, because I refuse to do everything and he hoards it up after it comes out of the dryer, I had no clean knickers this morning apart from some rather risqué ones, so I’m currently wearing black lacey knickers which have ties at the side...

Can’t wait to get out of the house. We’re off to gymnastics soon, home for lunch and then to the park and to the library. Need to Bob into my work and hand in my holiday request form, I’ve got 21 days leave to take between July and the new year, I’m tried to work it so I have very few full working weeks. My manager will not love it. Hey ho.

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2021 10:31

I can only assume the reason she wakes up is because she hates me. Sounds like you had a rubbish night also.

DH is a laundry 'helper' to, he's great at putting it in the washing machine, but will keep putting loads on not worrying about if we have room to put it anywhere. He's got better at hanging the wet washing up after, he used to just pile up the wet washing.

Chocolatetrifle · 13/05/2021 11:25

Talking about washing my DS2 has pressed something on the machine and it's been washing for the last 2 and a half hours....

Sounds like wine is definitely needed for all after last night..

I've just noticed DS1 has a lower molar erupt so that explains why he's been waking about 4 times every night.

We've been to the farm shop and had a car picnic of satsumas whilst looking at horses, it was quite nice. Also went to the library and got chatting to another mum and discovered there is a Tumble Tots next door so might look into that.

Looks like rain for this afternoon...

Could your DD be getting more teeth Motherofmonsters?
