I have ventured out to complete yesterday's shopping and did not get wet. In fact it stayed dry for my whole excursion.

As I do not have lovely fotos of my own - here is what DSis and family is looking at right now:

Silkiecats · 08/05/2021 11:07

DS had to vote on class challenge, all sports related - he chose see how many times you can run up the stairs at your home in 3 minutes. I said will you do that then? He said no I will just do it once and mutiply so its believable.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2021 11:14

My foto did not post, here it is

DH has finally woken up at 11.10am, luckily Silkiecat is still asleep or she would be very cross with DH, he is very lucky to have the chosen servant position and should behave like he deserves it more which means 24/7 on call duty. He says he feels OK at the moment just thirsty but says he may get the side effects later. Think he had vaccine at 6.30pm yesterday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2021 11:27

I have to rest my foot again and do so watching an Australian guy mowing an overgrown yard.

Squirrel26 · 08/05/2021 11:53

I have been to the gym, John Lewis and Pets At Home. Now I’ve got stuck to the sofa, when I should be taking the dog for a walk.

Spudlet · 08/05/2021 12:15

DH has had his first jab and came home with coffee and cake as well. I have just given him a haircut and am now steeling myself to attack DS with the scissors. He is not a haircut fan 😬 However we have some Haribo for him to eat so perhaps that will help.

Appalling weather here so it’s indoors jobs all the way. We may venture to the garden centre later as we haven’t planted any veg yet - we’re really behind with it.

Sunbird24 · 08/05/2021 12:16

I’m on my way for my jab, both parents have come with me so it’s a right family outing!

Champagneforeveryone · 08/05/2021 12:27

We have planted very little to spudlet my early planting was thwarted by an unexpected and vicious frost Confused

Important news of the day, peanut butter and ryvita is far inferior with apple than it is with banana

KeepSmiling89 · 08/05/2021 12:32

DH is cooking eggy bread for lunch as I sit at the kitchen table drinking a cuppa tea 🙂

theDudesmummy · 08/05/2021 12:37

Another kids riding lesson today, I am sitting in my car again, this time looking at the cutest little very new foals and their mums in a field.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2021 12:46

Now I had to google what ryvita is - a brand of Knäckebrot google tells me. Is that right? Thin rectangular slices of dried bread?

We have Buger and Wasa in our kitchen (one plain rye and one sesam).

MissConductUS · 08/05/2021 13:29

Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread!

And welcome, @KeepSmiling89, and thanks for sharing your eggy bread news. I'm going to assume that's what we call French toast, which is slices of bread (preferably challah bread) dipped in an egg and milk mixture and fried.

Tomorrow is mothers day here. Smile

@MissConductUS yes it is French toast...I think uk folk call it that as well but our family just call it eggy bread...twas delicious! Stuffed now!

Spudlet · 08/05/2021 13:36

@theDudesmummy Sounds like a pretty good way to spend a Saturday - as long as they don’t fall off and drop sand all over the inside of your car Grin I remember doing that once and being made to sit on a plastic bag on the way home - my uncle was very protective of his car 🙈

Squirrel26 · 08/05/2021 13:37

That is correct on both the Ryvita and eggy bread fronts. If I heard French toast I would assume it was a sweet version (with icing sugar - ?powdered sugar dusted on top), but this may be a VERY localised distinction i.e. one used only in my family. Grin

Spudlet · 08/05/2021 13:39

DS now has a haircut which looks exactly as you would imagine a haircut given by a completely untrained and inexperienced hairdresser to a client who keeps wiggling, complaining, and burying their head in their neck would look ConfusedBlush

I’m sure it will grow back 🙈

soddingkitten · 08/05/2021 14:02

I took DS1 into town to buy him new walking boots and OS* maps for our holiday.

DH and I told DS1 last night that he’s taking over one midweek evening meal a week after his exams finish, as he’s got a 3 month break before he starts his A levels. He said he’s going to learn how to make chicken katsu and that will be his signature dish. We stopped off at the spice shop in town to get the curry powder that comes closest to Wagamamas katsu curry.

  • Ordnance Survey maps are government produced and cover the whole UK. They have different ranges of outdoor leisure and walking maps with different scales. The UK has many historic ‘rights of way’ across private land which are used by walkers and horseriders (bridleways).
theDudesmummy · 08/05/2021 14:22

DS did not fall off his pony. So that's all good! Pizza for lunch.

theDudesmummy · 08/05/2021 14:23

I eat French toast the canadian way (once lived in Saskatchawan for a bit), with bacon and maple syrup.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2021 14:33

French Toast comes under the 'Arme Ritter' variant of food - there's a Wikipedia article. Now I am hungry.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/05/2021 15:04

Where are you going on holiday sodding?

I'm very thrilled with maps and spend hours poring over them. I'm also a fairly nifty map reader, though to my shame I do mostly use the OS app now as I rarely venture into the wilds.

Both DS and DH have a shocking sense of direction and are completely disinterested in my map fetishing Hmm

soddingkitten · 08/05/2021 16:49

One of our national parks with good hill walking options. I bought a compass too, just in case.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2021 17:34

I got told that I still have 17 days vacation to take (amounting to 4 calendar weeks).
No idea why or when to take it....

It is still dry 18°C in full sun.

Sunbird24 · 08/05/2021 18:18

How long do you have to take those days Prok? I feel your pain, I’ve got 65 days to take by the end of March as I couldn’t take much last year with the pandemic on. It’s hard to find time to have as vacation sometimes isn’t it!?
