DH gets his second jab Friday evening so will see how he does, he was quite ill after first but only for 24 hours - he says he will be more ill this time, optimistic as ever. The booking system is now showing one second appointment for me though bizarrely its one that was cancelled.

DH is home for lunch and had leek and potato soup with bread and butter and Eurostar biscuit cake. There was far too much pepper in the soup for me but otherwise lovely lunch. DD having a jacket potato with beans and cheese.

I am sorting out banking things again. I have changed my order from a grey laptop to a red one now red ones are back in stock. Red ones are much better,

Squirrel26 · 06/05/2021 13:51

I buy Penguins (the biscuits) quite often. You can get packs of 21 from Ocado for under £2 (I think).

Nydj · 06/05/2021 13:58

I had my haircut yesterday - forgot to take a proper mask and the mask I did have was very uncomfortable so they let me have one from their box.
@theDudesmummy, do you have any muslin that you could use instead of cheesecloth?

I hope you MRI appointment went without incident, @MissConductUS

I got very wet on my walk today - took ages to dry off and warm up when I got home. Never trust the weather forecast.

theDudesmummy · 06/05/2021 14:02

@Nydj I did hunt about for muslin, I thought that I might have some tucked away somewhere from when DS was a baby. I had so many then! But that is too long ago now and I don't have any now (or not that I could locate). But I have some cheesecloth on order, and the bandage worked fine. I did the first poultice this morning, not sure how long supposed to keep on for or how often?

MissConductUS · 06/05/2021 14:06

Good afternoon, lovely people of the thread. My apologies for the incomplete punctuation of my last post. I was being called into the MRI room while I was typing it on my phone.

The MRI went fine. Silkie, it wasn't especially large or small. I think I had about 8-10 inches of room above my face once I was fully inside. They gave me good noise-blocking headphones and had a decent mix of classical music to listen to while the scan was happening. I've had 3 MRI scans previously, so I knew what to expect. It was a brand new GE MRI machine and fairly quiet.

DH ran out and picked up a tex-mex takeaway while I was having the test, so I didn't have to wait for dinner once I was home. The Radiologist will have the report done by tomorrow so I'll probably get a call from the surgeon on Monday. I did not run into the nurse who rang me earlier this week, so had no follow-up discussions about alien abductions were required. Smile

It's great news that more covid jabs are being booked. I'm currently on another thread trying to convince some nutters people that vaccinating teenagers is not a crazy, evil thing to do.

As there is no need to collect DS this afternoon as he will be driving home (!) DH and I have been afternoon drinking.

In truth, we walked three miles to the pub with the dogs, had one pint and then walked home again. DDog2 (who normally upsets DH terribly with her lawless ways) was impeccably behaved with the judicious application of a blanket to the pub chair so that she didn't have to sit on the concrete like DDog1 a common mongrel. The sun even came out (after the hail!)

PurrsuationI
Yes in England. It didn't stick. Then the sun came out, then it rained then it snowed again, then it hailed. I love springHmmGrin

Squirrel26 · 06/05/2021 16:32

I’m going to the pub for dinner tonight. It’s very exciting (possibly too exciting for this thread).

I’ve got my woolly hat with me for when it gets cold.

theDudesmummy · 06/05/2021 16:53

Here it is sunny (intermittently) but again surprisingly cold. DH has bought a boat trailer and has to drive to the other end of the county to collect it, he has just left.

Deathraystare · 06/05/2021 17:20

Yesterday as I was being driven home from work I noticed that although it had been raining, the sun was out (about 18.00 hours) and it shone on all the buildings and the yellow/green trees looked ablaze. Took my mind off my health worries for a while!

Do you know I never realised how Ramadam affected taxi companies - well why would I? But now that I have to get taxis I sometimes find that especially early in the morning I cannot get one and that is due to a lot of the drivers being muslim. Not only my taxis but those used by our patients too! So I guess I will have to get up earlier to take the bus into work (I am very slow now which is not like me!)

soddingkitten · 06/05/2021 18:20

Sodding gave me a lovely headbump and welcome when I got in, which was a tonic after a crappy day and then some. 🙁

MissConductUS · 06/05/2021 18:42

Headbumps have magical healing powers. Of course, there's the explanation that they are simply scent-marking your as their property. Grin

soddingkitten · 06/05/2021 19:16

I can live with that. 😄

Deathraystare · 06/05/2021 19:23

Well beat me on the bottom with a women's weekly - I have now been texted by the surgery to say I can contact them to arrange a telephone interview regarding a letter they received. Presumably to do with my heart /lung thing.

All I need now is to learn to do smoke signals as it is impossible to ring and get through to the surgery (as I have tried all this week!). I am in work early tomorrow so will ring then.

Champagneforeveryone · 06/05/2021 19:30

Booked for both vaccinations Smile

First one next week and at a pharmacy about 5 miles away. Possibly sacrificing a rest day if I feel grotty afterwards but at least I don't have to trek across the county for it so a fair gamble.

Silkiecats · 06/05/2021 20:17

We have Chinese takeaway and DH went to Pets at Home for more hay.

Sunbird24 · 06/05/2021 20:51

I’ve got restless legs, but feels like it’s all over! Confused

Silkiecats · 06/05/2021 20:58

Is that the 3kgs of pick and mix giving you restless legs Sunbird?

Sunbird24 · 06/05/2021 21:04

😂 I ate about 6 sweets (all fizzy ones) and a Freddo… too much sugar gives me a massive crash and sends me to sleep!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/05/2021 21:36

Off work tomorrow - I have booked my weekly official test and will do some shopping (plants, house shoes, goods from the Vin Loy, etc.). If the weather decides to stay calm.

HildaTablet · 06/05/2021 22:30

We took ourselves off to vote today, calling in at the garden centre on the way so I could buy some geraniums and also some more suet sprinkles for the outrageously pampered pair of nesting robins who now appear hopefully every time I go near the back door. They seem to be getting through industrial quantities of food so their chicks will be absolute porkers.

DH has been putting unwanted stuff on our local Freegle site as we're trying to declutter; so far we have takers for most of the things he's offering so it feels as though we're making a bit of progress. We still think we'll need a mini-skip, though.

HelenaJustina · 07/05/2021 06:37

@soddingkitten hope today is better, if not, at least it is Friday! Flowers

@Deathraystare let me know if you find a good smoke signal tutorial. I spent 27 minutes on hold to the company which runs our local leisure centre yesterday after they randomly moved one child’s swim class to a different day. Since Covid, we are no longer allowed telephone access to the actual centre itself. However, I was told I would be emailed. So now I have the centre manager’s direct email address, but I can’t have the telephone number for her place of work! Confused

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/05/2021 07:18

Guess what, it is raining.
I'll go anyway. Take a bit of recycling, too.

This is the life!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/05/2021 10:09

I am back. 8°C, heavy rain and wind. I only did the recycling and the most urgent shopping.
Now I am back home, dry again and I am not leaving the house until next week. I stay in and stay dry.

Spudlet · 07/05/2021 13:10

Set the world to rights after the school run, and then went for a bike ride. It was meant to be a relatively short one but I decided to see where the roads took me, and they took me for 17 miles! Now putting my feet up for a bit although I do need to shower and change before pick up time - I’ve decided I’ve cycled far enough today so I’ll be driving DS home from school, and will take his bike with me so he can have a go on the playground before we head back.
