@MissConductUS Spuddog loves the car and is an excellent traveller. He used to ride shotgun when I was single - wearing his own seatbelt - and has not quite gotten over his relegation to the boot. But the majority of his car trips end up somewhere fun so he’s still happy to be on the road. Mind you, he also likes the vet - he knows which drawer they keep the biscuits in and refuses to leave the consultation room without receiving his payout Grin

Spudlet · 04/05/2021 18:24

One more bit of Spuddog spam - he’s having a bit of a bad hair day Grin

@Spudlet

He’s a pretty awesome little dog really, although he does have flatulence that could strip paint these days and is completely deaf. He can still be let off the lead as he’s very good at checking we’re in sight, but we have to be cautious and only do this where there are very few people (he will always go to say hello and not everyone likes it) and of course nowhere near livestock. But a rainy day in the woods was ideal for him as we didn’t see anyone else and he could bimble about at will.

@Champagneforeveryone I like to think of the muck as being like a protective coating, it means that when you have to squeeze into a hedge for a combine harvester there’s less chance of the paintwork getting scratched Grin

@soddingkitten How is the patient today?

Aww, he's cute. Is he a cocker? We've got an english springer and her sprocker son. He too can produce some eye-watering whiffs; you'd swear we fed him on nothing but sprouts and cabbage sometimes!
Champagneforeveryone · 04/05/2021 19:21

spudlet in that last picture, does spuddog have a horribly dry and crusty nose? I only ask because DDog1 who is also a cocker has a horrendously dry nose and I've never seen another dog like it. We've actually had to buy nose balm for him Confused
I have included a gratuitous picture of him since we're doing spaniel spam Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/05/2021 19:26

@Champagneforeveryone - where?

Spudlet · 04/05/2021 19:27

@Champagneforeveryone I can’t see a picture Sad Sometimes they take a while to sync though so I will check later and maybe it will have turned up. He does have a very dry nose, I think it’s an age thing. I have just put some lip balm onto it although Spuddog was not impressed and had to be cornered, put into a headlock, and placated with a biscuit to get it on.

@sueelleker We think he’s a cocker but he is quite big so may be a sprocker. He’s a rescue so no way to know for sure.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Gorgeous!

Champagneforeveryone · 04/05/2021 19:30

I can't post a picture

In a fit of reckless optimism I haven't slept all day, and now Mumsnet is trifling with my last nerve.

Standby....

theDudesmummy · 04/05/2021 19:57

Squirrel26 · 04/05/2021 20:02

Aww, cute dogs! Interesting home made Quark. Grin

I don't think I can go back to the car wash at Tesco. The poor man always looks so panicked when I turn up. Blush

MissConductUS · 04/05/2021 20:10

This is my Quark, and yes, I am a Star Trek nerd. Grin

I have loved the sound of the lashing rain and howling winds as I have sat indoors, wrapped in a blanket.

theDudesmummy · 04/05/2021 20:24

I am a trekker too...

I am making the quark primarily as a poultice so if it doesn't taste nice it doesn't really matter, but if it is nice that will be a bonus.

theDudesmummy · 04/05/2021 20:25

I need the cheesecloth, which I have ordered, it needs to arrive soon. DH wants to make cheese too but he is eyeing hard cheeses.

Silkiecats · 04/05/2021 20:38

School is open tomorrow with some room changes. Having steak fajitas for dinner and strawberries and cream.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/05/2021 20:41

@theDudesmummy - That's admirable. Too much effort for me!
DH likes quark. I prefer it as part of cakes.

And, of course, we are a family of trekkers (Treckies), too Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/05/2021 20:44

traditional Berlin use of Quark

theDudesmummy · 04/05/2021 21:29

Here in Ireland we have extremely nice potatoes, will certainly try that if it is edible

Silkiecats · 05/05/2021 08:39

Poor DD has a migraine again today and is off again but DS was off 20 minutes early keen to have school again, or at least see other children.

Nice sunny day here though fairly cold still. The 🐔 s woodchip is being delivered in next hour.

Fiercestcalm · 05/05/2021 09:36

Once every 6 months, I have to take DH to the major hospital for tests etc... it is a whole day away and the dogs absolutely hate it, used as they are to 24 hour company and a set routine ( impossible to take them as they would be stressed in an underground car park and our climate kills dogs in cars so unless it’s a trip for them they don’t travel in the car). A good friend of mine pops in to offer comfort breaks a bit of fuss etc etc, today the spaniel has pulled a new trick, their food ( evening meal ) was left out and my friend fed them at their usual time. We got home 3 hours after I know they were fed and let out, fussed and consoled. Spaniel is now majorly begging for his dinner. It’s almost as if he has decided that because we were not here it doesn’t count, so a second dinner is required. We have the full moping, big brown eyes, heavy sighing, head in lap and tapping the bottom of the dog cupboard. Nudging my elbow with his head, really quite a performance! So now dinners do not count unless I have given them .... nice try, you cunning spotty monkey....

My dogs get fed in the morning, and before I retired they got their supper when I got back from work (around 6.30pm) Now they think that every time I come home it's food time!
Spudlet · 05/05/2021 10:22

Spuddog seems to forget he’s been fed these days and demands a second helping fairly often. Not sure if he’s going a bit gaga, or just chancing his paw 🤔

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/05/2021 11:06

They probably hear the food in the cupboard calling to them, just like I have been called by 2 biscuits right now and listened to them, of course.

There is a rain storm with hail going on outside which made the workmen and their screaming saw stop.
