@Prokupatuscrakedatus thanks for that, I might see if I can get/order quark here. I also had foot surgery about 6 years ago. The foot only started looking not-swollen about two years ago

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 16:31

Hmmm, looking around, I may have to make my own quark. Any suggestions? Or would kefir maybe work?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2021 16:33

@theDudesmummy
Feet are awful for swelling - I was told to keep the foot above heart level for 6 weeks as often as possible. I was signed off sick and luckily have grown DC and a DH who works from home.

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 16:39

I was off work for 9 weeks with my foot, and wore a tube thing/brace around it for over a year...

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 16:42

I have now been drawn into the online world of cheesemaking...fascinating...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2021 17:21

Grin Me too, when I tried to find the proper English word to use.

MissConductUS · 02/05/2021 17:30

@Spudlet, congratulations on your first vaccination! DS is having his as I type this.

Thanks for the explanation of your computer saga, theDudesmummy. Going up to a bigger screen requires more resolution, as you have more pixels to light up.

DH has turned on the water to the hose on the deck, so I can water my mother's day flowers. Smile

Beautiful flowers @MissConductUS. Happy Mother’s Day for next Sunday to all mothers celebrating in the USA (and Canada?) - I have to send my wishes today as I will probably forget on the day itself.
Well done on the first vaccine, the new car and having the house to yourself @Spudlet.
Using quark as a poultice for swellings is news to me - in my culture, we use tumeric for absolutely every medical ailment.
I went for a walk to local pond with ducks to see if there were any ducklings this morning. There were no ducklings but it was a nice walk.
Another batch of @MissConductUS™️ brownies made for and with DS today. Tried to made roasted veg for a salad but put too many veg in the tray so they sort of steamed 😟

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 18:06

The US computer has exactly the same size screen as my old computer (29 inch), it just has a far worse graphics card...

I will be able to register for a vaccine next week, but not sure how near that means the vaccine actually is.

HelenaJustina · 02/05/2021 18:33

Happy vaccination day @Spudlet may your side effects be mild and short-lived 🎉

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2021 19:04

DS is on day 3 after his vaccination and no side effects. He forgot to get Iphigenie auf Tauris for German Lit., but he remembered The Kite Runner for English, so he is half set for tomorrow.

It is raining again - rain in May is supposed to make people tall and beautiful.

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 20:14

My tomato plants

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 14: Calmly through the day
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2021 20:26

yay - is your weather so that you can put them out?

Ours are quite strong, but it is too cold and wet to put them outside.

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 20:27

No they are on a windowsill

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2021 20:33

DH's study/office has a small balcony, which gets filled with tomato and chili plants during summer. At the moment they are inside living among his papers and desks.

By the way - the dining table is still filled with little heaps of paper. I sneakily removed some and filed them ...

theDudesmummy · 02/05/2021 20:43

I am doing a little bit of tidying every day, I have spent the lockdown in a rather untidy state and that will have to come o an end soon. A friend in the UK has said if we are all vaccinated by July she intends to come for a visit. My house is currently unfit for visiting.

Silkiecats · 02/05/2021 21:37

DH is continuing his vaccine medical advice telling me I have patches of red like blood under the skin on one arm. I said I often have patches of red. He said is it the arm you had the vaccine in? I said no. He said that means its OK then.

DD is back from day out in London. Had hot dogs for dinner and salmon salad for lunch. Trying to entice DS out of the house, proving difficult, but finally agreed to 🐫 rides.

Silkiecats · 02/05/2021 21:41

Our house is also unfit for visits thought we were safe until May 17th but then ed psych invited herself, luckily DS said no. But we are frantically tidying anyway but moved 2 houses into 1 so lots to clear still. Dh was doing wine bottles today as I said we would look like alcoholics whereas I don't drink but Dh has masses of wine being French but never drinks it and needed to chuck out old bottles as gone bad.

MissConductUS · 02/05/2021 23:03

I have some self-watering planters that I stack behind the house when they're not in use. I took the first one off the stack and discovered a two foot long black snake coiled up underneath it. He hissed at me. So I sent DH down to evict him and get me another container. I've now filled them with potting soil and some seeds I'm starting.

The containers have a reservoir for water at the bottom and an insert that holds the soil above it, with wells where the soil dips down into the water. You just have to keep the reservoir topped up.

I'm at work and it is so dull it's utterly worthy of this thread!

I am filling my time by attempting to book a holiday where the dates and flights steadfastly refuse to tie up, menu planning and writing up my budget to allow me to book holidays

Every cloud Grin

mathanxiety · 03/05/2021 07:13

How are you still in the same State after finding that snake, MissConduct?

Spudlet · 03/05/2021 07:44

We haven’t had indoors visitors for ages and I’m in no massive hurry to change this... the house has devolved into a two-bedroom bin 😬

Vaccine update news: didn’t sleep terribly well and my arm feels like it’s been punched by the Incredible Hulk, but other than that feeling fine at the moment.

theDudesmummy · 03/05/2021 08:09

I feel better not being the only one with an untidy house. Well, "untidy" is a mild word for the situation. It's not just some things lying around. My daughter has not been home for a year (at university in another country, not able to get home), her room is just a pile of stuff...

Silkiecats · 03/05/2021 08:28

Glad you are feeling fine apart from the arm Spudlet I had the world's most gentle nurse so arm is fine, I had mine on Friday and now only have itchy red skin, mild headaches. DH has his second on Friday, he just phoned BIL and SIL to see how they were doing after their vaccines on Saturday and both of them are very ill, BIL was too ill to answer phone and SIL answered but said they were both really ill. I did avoid booking ours together for this reason. DH will phone them again later and hopefully will have improved.

HelenaJustina · 03/05/2021 09:09

My house is tidy compared to the house I grew up in, it’s not immaculate but my siblings are always impressed! I have got 3 dull things to do today but am hovering anxiously over my two loads of washing which are out on the line. Weather is due to be abysmal from midday.
