Can some explain like I'm 5?

Why are all the fans, the government, UEFA etc up in arms?

Sorry.... Just not sure what the problem is?

Liverpool , United and Arsenal will have some groveling to do now.

MajesticWhine · 20/04/2021 19:54

Well done Chelsea and Man City (and I don't often say that). Let's hope the others do the right thing now.

Bairnsmum05 · 20/04/2021 19:55

If they ban players from playing for their nation this will have a negsruve impact on Scottish football!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 20/04/2021 19:56

Hahha

"There is a growing possibility that Jose Mourinho may be the only European Super League manager ever to be sacked. The Special One."

Such a dumb dumb dumb thing to try to do in the first place..woops

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2021 20:00

Talksport is reporting that Woodward has resigned as Man U's chairman

Yes, the Glazers fingers are all over this they'll cling on by their fingernails until the very last minute.

@Helen1990 where are you seeing that Athletico and Barcelona are out?

babbaloushka · 20/04/2021 20:10

Fingers crossed for AFC next, hoping Arteta can have a bit of integrity- though saying that I wouldn't be posting on this thread if he did...

Brefugee · 20/04/2021 20:11

He says Liverpool will still stay in the same UK league unless FIFA don't let them. And this means Liverpool will field their best players in the super league and more younger / inexperienced players will get a turn in the FIFA league.

This would be a complete crock of shit and if he agrees that this is a good idea, and calls himself a football fan I'd be very surprised. I hope that the national associations stick with UEFA and FIFA and say that they are not allowed to play in both. Fielding a b-team against the other teams in the PL is insulting to the other clubs and all the fans. But that is what they would do.

They currently whine about how many games they have to play, but with both cups and a league of 20 teams, they'd have double the amount of extra matches over what they would have if they reached the CL final. The whole thing is ridiculous.

adawong · 20/04/2021 20:11

Andrea Agnelli has gone too.

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2021 20:11

From various twitter sources

Agnelli resigning from Juventus.

Told there is immense pressure on Florentino Perez too.

ILoveYou3000 · 20/04/2021 20:13

Matt Lucas tweeted that Spurs will be the last to pull out just so they can say they won something 🤣

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2021 20:13

SSN is reporting that liverpool will be making a statement this evening

Cindersrellie · 20/04/2021 20:14

Glad you've posted this, I cannot understand why people are so cross about some men wanting to play football.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 20/04/2021 20:21

It's off!!! Yes !!!! At last some bloody common sense and solidarity amongst all clubs staff and fans!!

EasterIssland · 20/04/2021 20:34

Florentino Pérez was on tv apparently saying no club would be leaving this as this is the best for the football

F**k off florentino

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2021 21:05

BBC's Simon Stone is now saying that Juventus have said reports about Agnelli resigning are not true

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2021 21:08

Summary from BBC

Some (mad) headlines
Your headlines at nine:

  • The shattering noise you heard outside is the European Super League trophy smashing to pieces. That's because Manchester City have withdrawn and Chelsea are close to doing so.
  • There is rumour on social media that some European teams will follow suit.
  • Ed Woodward is going to leave his role at Manchester United.
  • Chelsea fans protested (and then celebrated) outside Stamford Bridge as news of their club's exit from the ESL became clear. It may just be one of football's swiftest and most successful protests. Petr Cech turned out to try to encourage calm. All of this is true. It just reads like it's made up.

That's the 2100 bulletin. Goodness knows what 2200 will bring.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 20/04/2021 21:12

The pretend lack of understanding is tiresome. If you genuinely can't understand why people may be upset then you're lacking emotional illegentice as well as actual intelligence.

Not liking sport doesn't make you superior. It makes you soulless.

EasterIssland · 20/04/2021 21:15

We don’t like it and we don’t want it to happen.

This is our collective position.

Our commitment to this football club and its supporters is absolute and unconditional.

You’ll Never Walk Alone

ordan Henderson has been posted by Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner (and probably others).

MargotMoon · 20/04/2021 21:24

Exactly. The big difference between city and Chelsea is that they are owned outright by obscenely wealthy people. The Glazers own a bunch of shopping malls in the USA which have been empty for a year. They will be driving this, along with the other American businessmen at Liverpool, to service the crippling debt they put us in. So they can continue to bleed the club dry 😡
NeedWineNow · 20/04/2021 21:59

As a Chelsea supporter I say thank God that we're pulling out. I was appalled that we were involved in the first place.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 20/04/2021 23:03

All English clubs are coming out.

What a funny 48 hours
