Can some explain like I'm 5?

Why are all the fans, the government, UEFA etc up in arms?

Sorry.... Just not sure what the problem is?

@pheebumbalatti

A bunch of greedy morons think that another bunch of greedy morons shouldn't be doing business on their turf. A bunch of plebs think any of this matters.
Ah someone who thinks the same as me

But even if the teams don't get kicked out the league what's the point in being in it. All that can be won is the title. There won't be whole top 4 finish cause it won't matter. Be really pointless being apart of something that have little effect.

Protests yesterday...Protests today.. wonder if they expected this strong a backlash. No manager or player has said anything postive..or anyone come to that.

@DuncinToffee

And let's not forget Womens football

A very good point. When Women's football is finally starting to get the TV/media coverage it deserves, this comes along and pulls the rug out. It is still building it's audience and this gives an easy cop-out to broadcasters claiming to meet any 'inclusivity' requirements.

Don't forget with 15 permanent members, the ESL will basically be 'exhibition' games, rather like the friendlies men's teams play during the summer. Presumably the women will be present as a tidbit on the side as part of the warm up to the main event.

Horrible thought Sad

Chelsea have withdrawn. This ridiculous farce will now collapse, probably in the next 24 hours.

The game must now take serious action to punish these clubs very severely. A five year ban from European competition would be a good place to start.

00100001 · 20/04/2021 19:20

It does seem that they're going to go ahead and will sell out stadiums anyway 🤷‍♀️ the fanbase is millions of people.

They "legacy" fans won't stop supporting them, not really. They'll grumble and moan, and yeah,sure some will protest with their money and not renew their season ticket... but there's going to be another person who WILL buy that season ticket.

Why should the clubs care about the fans? They're a business at the end of the day, their only aim is to make money, so why not grab this opportunity?

I have to say I assume that this whole collapse thing was as a result of his amazing leadership and dedication to the really big issues of the day.
SakuraEdenSwan1 · 20/04/2021 19:41

Chelsea and Man City drawing up documents to pull out, come on Liverpool and the rest let's get out of this and bring football back to the fans.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 20/04/2021 19:43

Nice to be the first club to withdraw. Silly idea in the first place!! This is so funny how quickly its gone wrong for the planning bloke.

Helen1990 · 20/04/2021 19:43
