Following a battle with cancer. Very sad.

Not only is she much too young to go, her poor DC are apparently 14 & 13, which is a dreadful age to lose your mother. I hope Damian is able to take a year or two odd to be with them. She was so talented. Awful disease.

TwigTheWonderKid · 16/04/2021 18:43

She was the same age my mum was when she died. I was 20 and that was hard enough but her kids are only 14 and 13 Sad

Besom · 16/04/2021 18:44

Oh no this is very sad. What a charismatic presence she had in everything she was in.

mosgirl · 16/04/2021 18:48

I came on to say how fascinating her Desert Islabd discs episode was but someone has already mentioned it. If you can find it as a podcast do listen. She's had a well lived, fascinating life.

I thought she was strong but womanly and feminine. A winning combination. I feel so sorry for her husband and children.

I'm counting my blessings. None of us know what is round the corner. RIP Helen.

WorkPhobic · 16/04/2021 18:49

So bloody devastating. She was a fantastic woman and an incredible actress. What a great loss. RIP Helen. ❤

IntermittentParps · 16/04/2021 18:50

So sad. I think I remember reading that she'd 'hurt' her arm, hence holding it strangely, in Roadkill; but maybe it was to do with her illness or treatment.

I wanted to see her in Medea at the National Theatre a few years ago but wasn't able to. So wish I could have seen that now.

  1. Fuck. Her and Paul Ritter. It's shite.
Interviewedundercaution · 16/04/2021 18:57

Medea might be on NT Live. I saw it in the cinema. She was spellbinding.

PosyBoo · 16/04/2021 19:01

She was fabulous. So heartbreaking for her poor family.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 16/04/2021 19:08

Trumplosttheelection · 16/04/2021 19:11

Such awful news, I've found it v upsetting

Floopsy · 16/04/2021 19:15

So sad. She was such a talented actress. She always seemed like good fun in interviews. Heartbreaking for her family.

Heronsnest · 16/04/2021 19:15

So sad. Their children can't be very old either. RIP

SelkieIntegrated · 16/04/2021 19:18

Blimey, this is sad. I didn't know she had cancer. I thought Id misread when I read this first.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 16/04/2021 19:18

I am deeply saddened by this. She was a spell binding actor. Simply brilliant and was the year below me at school.

I saw her live at the National in The Deep Blue Sea a few years ago. She was outstanding.

Her death at such an early age is so very very sad. RIP Helen.

EffYouSeeKaye · 16/04/2021 19:21

A brilliant, inspirational woman. So very sad that she has gone so soon.

Here is her Desert Island Discs, if you’d like to listen to her.

This is so, so sad. She came across as a really together, strong and brilliant woman. Her poor children too, what a loss.

RIP.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 16/04/2021 19:26

I'm really blindsided by this - so very sad - I don't often get emotional about celebrities but It's really touched a nerve. I only knew her through Peaky Blinders and I was really invested in her character, she played Polly so well. So sad for her family. What a terrible loss.

whatnow47 · 16/04/2021 19:27

What an amazing actress. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. I will always remember her for playing Barbara Villiers in Charles I The Power and the Passion. She stole the show. Sad

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 16/04/2021 19:28

An awesome actress. My heart breaks for her husband and kids, friends and family. So awful.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 16/04/2021 19:29

Oh no! That's awful news. I only just saw her name on a cast list and was thinking how adaptable and fantastic she was as an actor.

3peassuit · 16/04/2021 19:32

A beautiful woman and a great actress. Her husband’s post was lovely.

Ithinktomyself · 16/04/2021 19:32

Utterly awful. Amazing talent and seemed like the sort of woman I'd want to get pissed with. She was definitely a mumsnetter. Rest in peace. Thoughts with Damien and their children.

JCBBCJ · 16/04/2021 19:34

This has really shaken me, I can’t stop thinking about Helen and her poor, poor family. Awful thing to happen, they’re all in my thoughts. Rest in peace Helen

Egghead68 · 16/04/2021 19:36

Heartbreaking.

JMAngel1 · 16/04/2021 19:39

I never get upset about celebrity deaths but this has shook me. I adored her and could watch her and watch her - she was mesmerising. Terrible, terrible news. God bless you Helen x
