Finally my hair appointment today!
I last washed my hair on Monday, usually only wash it once a week, would you wash it today before going to the hairdressers?
Friend says she would never go to the hairdressers with unwashed hair which made me think maybe I should wash it this morning but I really can't be bothered

I'd wash it!

lughnasadh · 15/04/2021 08:26

Definitely wash it.

Bert2020 · 15/04/2021 08:27

Depends what you are in for. I’ve always washed mine but if it’s colour my mum has been told to keep it washed just a couple of days before.

I don’t (what’s the point, they just wash it for you) but my hairdresser is insisting on washed hair for covid reasons at the moment.

Sirzy · 15/04/2021 08:29

If I am going for a colour then I don’t wash it that day

PrudenceDictates · 15/04/2021 08:29

If the hairdresser is going to wash it anyway I wouldn't bother.

RosesAndHellebores · 15/04/2021 08:29

Depends if it's dirty or greasy. I need only to wash my hair every 3/4 days so if it's day 4 no; but I wouldn't stretch it to day 5.

SummerHouse · 15/04/2021 08:30

I would not wash it. I would also not clean before the cleaner came round. If I had a cleaner.

mildlymiffed · 15/04/2021 08:30

If they wash it, then I wouldn't bother! Otherwise it'd end up dry from the double wash!

GoWalkabout · 15/04/2021 08:30

I don't usually, because it's washed there. But I wash mine every other day. I don't think your hairdresser will necessarily know - some people's hair will get oily and dirty quickly for example, but yours might not, which is why you don't wash it often presumably.

idontlikealdi · 15/04/2021 08:30

As long as it's not really greasy no - what's the point in paying them to wash it for you?

KatherineJaneway · 15/04/2021 08:30

@PrudenceDictates

If the hairdresser is going to wash it anyway I wouldn't bother.

ReviewingTheSituation · 15/04/2021 08:30

I normally wash mine every day, but wouldn't bother on the day of a haircut. The first thing they're going to do is wash it, so it's a wasof time!

greensnail · 15/04/2021 08:30

I wouldn't unless it is due to be washed. If you have the type of hair that only needs washing once a week then it is still clean 3 days after washing.

JM10 · 15/04/2021 08:30

If I hadn't washed it since Monday I would, but I couldn't get away with washing my hair once a week anyway.

I'd never wash it that day I was going, but probably the day before.

oneglassandpuzzled · 15/04/2021 08:31

No. I pay them to wash it.

Unless it’s in a terrible state.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 15/04/2021 08:31

It depends, if it still feel nice & clean then no, bit if it feels greasy then you - no one wants to be handling someone else's greasy/dirty hair.

But if you're getting it coloured you should have washed it Tuesday & left it.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 15/04/2021 08:32

Well my theory is if you go in with your hair looking it's best - washed and styled but needing a trim, then the hairdresser has to improve on that. But if you rock up with unwashed hair scraped up into a ponytail they have a lower starting point!! Just one of those odd things I do; so I'd say wash it. 😁

purplemunkey · 15/04/2021 08:32

I don’t generally as they wash it for you anyway. I wash my hair every other day though. I might wash it if it had been 4 days.

I think I did wash it once on the morning of an appointment as it was quite greasy. I remember the hairdresser asking me whether I’d just washed it when she was doing her own wash. I think she thought it a bit odd!

dementedpixie · 15/04/2021 08:33

If you a getting a colour or highlights then I wouldn't wash it
Also if you're just getting it cut then don't they wash it anyway?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 15/04/2021 08:33

Is the hairdresser going to wash it before your cut? If so why would it need to be washed twice in a few hours?

People's hair is all different, no need to do what suits your friends hair.

SionnachGlic · 15/04/2021 08:35

I wash mine at least every second day...but I wouldn't on the day of an appt because they wash it for me. And I love love love getting it scrubbed by someone else ...it is like the best head massage ever. No haidressers open where I am...hair is sooo long now & I'm envious of your upcoming hair wash, lucky you.

user1493413286 · 15/04/2021 08:35

Does it look like it needs a wash? I wouldn’t go with greasy hair but I don’t normally wash it as I have colour then a wash so i don’t see the point.

yomellamoHelly · 15/04/2021 08:35

One of the first things they do is wash it, so I would say no.

Janaih · 15/04/2021 08:36

@HavfrueDenizKisi I agree with this, I always wear make up and half decent clothes too. If you look like you don't give a shit, they won't put the effort in.
