What's the funniest name you've heard of for a family pet?

A friend told me today that they've finally named their new Shih tzu puppy who they got a week ago. He's gorgeous and fluffy and they've chosen the name Monkey! I know it's none of my business but I really don't think that name suits him and it sounds a little bit silly... but it's kinda cute at the sane time I guess!

I was at a garden centre that also sells fish last weekend, and a pair of small children were picking out two goldfish. Apparently they were going to their new lives as Aubameyang and Fluffy.

I know chickens called Gandalf, Nigel Havers and Zeus (same owner.) Egg was taken by a fox last year.

My sister has a pair of rag doll kittens called Shane McGowan and Lipstick.

I had goldfish (sadly no longer with us) named Barry Garry Harry and Larry.

CornedBeef451 · 11/04/2021 09:09

We had a goldfish called Nice and then Nice Too.

DCs first pets so they chose the names. DD was 4 so chose Goldie, DS was 1 so had a limited number of choices, the fish could have been called Daddy, Biscuit, No or Nice.

Nice died quickly so we ended up with Nice Too. Goldie lived for ages.

Ian the cat.

Waggy the Labrador. The toddler that was with them earnestly explained that the lab was called Waggy because he wags his tail a lot.

FunnyWonder · 11/04/2021 09:32

there was a dog locally called Fat boy. He went missing and many of the community went out to find him. The fact loads of people were out shouting 'Fat boy' made me laugh

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 11/04/2021 10:03

When I was growing up we had a rescue dog who came to us already named Sheila.

This was particularly unfortunate because that was also our next door neighbours name so when we would call the dog in from the garden very often our neighbours head would pop up over the fence.

We did try to change the name but the dog was having none of it so Sheila she remained and a very lovely dog she was too. In the end the neighbours moved away (hopefully not because of our dog)

littleredberries · 11/04/2021 10:08

Michael Cain the parrot. The owner only ever spoke to him in Michael Cain impressions and thus the parrot actually sounded a little bit like Michael Cain

FizzyTarte · 11/04/2021 10:09

We’ve had cats called Pooky, Muppet and Pingu.
Think my favourite pet-on-the-internet name was an angry Koala called GumNut.

Elmrosie · 11/04/2021 10:12

We had a chicken called Mrs McQueen, because she kept escaping from the chicken run.
