What's the funniest name you've heard of for a family pet?

A friend told me today that they've finally named their new Shih tzu puppy who they got a week ago. He's gorgeous and fluffy and they've chosen the name Monkey! I know it's none of my business but I really don't think that name suits him and it sounds a little bit silly... but it's kinda cute at the sane time I guess!

One of my horses is called Monkey... that was his name before I got him and it’s bad luck to change a horse’s name, it does suit him though.

When we were kids we had canaries. I called mine a perfectly sensible name (hamish) but my brother called his one swing! Because it liked to swing in the cage!
Then swing died and we got a female replacement which we called the made up female version of hamish - hamishetta!

Alan Carr has a red setter named after Beverly Callard which makes me laugh. Although I think she goes by Bev (the dog I mean, can't speak for the actress).

MaryBoBary · 11/04/2021 13:17

Oh and OHs grandfather had a cat called Minge. I really don't know why.

Oh and very outing but at the age of 4 my son decided to call his first pet fish Brian Turner. He doesn't know anyone with this name and the surname was all his doing (not our surname).

My first pony was called Hot Pants. My sister tried to change it to George but, I always called him Pants. Sometimes I referred to him as Saucey as in HP (Hot Pants) sauce. Grin

I think Ruby Ferguson and Christine Pullein-Thompson books would have been greatly improved by ponies called Hot Pants. And Twerk. Grin
