Yes, money for sure. I can find an awful lot of pleasure for free.

Other thing I was going to say was cars....I HATE cars. They're bad for the environment and people overuse them.

They take up more than half of the street and people get weird about a scratch on them...I mean why? You'll never keep them perfect...

People say "Oh my son has just bought a (insert expensive car)" and you just KNOW he hasn't bought it at all....he's paying it off and is now in debt! Nothing to be proud of at all.

Looks. If you don't look a certain way then your considered unattractive.

Living in a 4 bed detached house with garage and big garden. Even if you have no kids that's the is the minimum size of house required. Also, apparently its detrimental to children if they have to share a room with a sibling Confused. Meanwhile, in the real world, my dp shared a room with his 2 brothers, 2 sisters and his uncle until he was about 12. They survived.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 09/04/2021 03:26

That last bit about room sharing is exclusive to MN AFAIK.

Yes! On here is the first time I've ever seen people say it's bad for kids to share. I shared with TWO older sisters. Three single beds in one room but before that we all slept in a double bed together!

We were and are fine.

Outdoing other people. The whole competitive culture is such a drain on joy.

Big expensive houses. Brand new cars... Basically keeping up with the Jones's. One of the main reasons I left the UK. I can't be bothered with all of that and don't want my son growing up with the pressure of it.

Have to agree with this one.

Whenever I see this, I automatically assume these people haven't worked in the last decade. Because if they had, they would realise it's actually going to be beneficial for their kids to learn how to use the technology that both school and workplaces rely upon.

A depressing one on here is the competitive under eating. I dared to look on the weight loss boards then decided I didn't want to spiral into an eating disorder thank you very much.
