Definitely cars - DH and I constantly marvel at all the expensive cars around us when we have the most bog standard family car.

Arbadacarba · 09/04/2021 07:01

Football - people who get really upset because their team isn't doing well, or cry when their country is knocked out of the World Cup. Enjoy football by all means but don't let it rule your life.

picknmix1984 · 09/04/2021 07:08

Dogs- especially my DHs family. They can witter away for hours about dogs and I think WTF! It's a dog ffs!

Nannewnannew · 09/04/2021 07:17

Weddings and the eye watering cost of them.

Interior design, at the moment the craze for grey everywhere.

Definitely Cars,

Cleaning- I have a couple of friends who spend nearly all their waking hours doing housework-just why?

AnaViaSalamanca · 09/04/2021 07:30

Weddings and proposals definitely

Diets (whether it is keto, plaeo, low carb, eating clean, etc) people are just too religious about it

On here is the first time I've ever seen people say it's bad for kids to share.

Yep, I grew up in a 6 bed house with 4 siblings & we swapped & shared with each other all the time out of choice.

bathmatty · 09/04/2021 07:35

For me it's the social media influencers who 9/10 aren't bringing anything actually new or exciting to the table etc & yet people buy the crap they peddle. I find it weird.

DinosaurDiana · 09/04/2021 07:36

Cycling.

somuchlaundrytowash · 09/04/2021 07:41

Being an 'eco mummy' second hand everything. Saving the world one cloth nappy at a time this doesn't save the world due to electricity and water use to wash and dry them.

JustGiveMeGin · 09/04/2021 07:41

On here - competitive need to prove how little people care about appearance by stating repeatedly that the last time they wore makeup was in 1963 and that was because their narcissistic mother made them trowel some on!
In real life - keeping up with home decor trends, gone are the days when you got years out of decorating a room, now it's almost dressed like a person with a new outfit to follow the current acceptable fashion.

Changing Facebook profile / filter for every virtue signalling fad that comes along.

Pinkmagic1 · 09/04/2021 07:58

Dogs. I love all animals and have worked with dogs in the past, but I find it distasteful how people humanise them. They may be a much loved family pet, but they are not a fur baby!

@BusterGonad

Big expensive houses. Brand new cars... Basically keeping up with the Jones's. One of the main reasons I left the UK. I can't be bothered with all of that and don't want my son growing up with the pressure of it.
I'm interested in where you moved to that you've been able to avoid that.

I lived in Canada for a few years and felt the pressure of that hugely, more than I have in the UK.
