When we were in Disney a couple of years back I spotted on Facebook a former colleague was there too. We kept doing stuff a day apart. At the airport waiting for our flight home we spotted one another - we were on the same flight, a few rows apart.

Yes - my childhood crush. I spotted him ahead of me in a crowd and smiled and waited for him to turn around. I wrote an article on him online once about that, I'm going to go and find it since I'm up :)

Actually thanks OP, it was so long ago now that I'd forgotten the details so I reread the article on childhood crush. It was on my birthday and I was walking too fast so stopped and looked over my shoulder for my friends in the crowd and he was there behind me. So I was in front of him, not behind, I'd forgotten. He looked a bit confused I was there and gave me a birthday kiss on the cheek, he was with a beautiful girlfriend

DH and I met working in a pub when we were teenagers. 8 years after we left it, we bumped into our old boss in Fiskardo. He invited us onto his boat for a drink.

garlictwist · 08/04/2021 06:22

I bumped into my English teacher on a train in Italy when I was a teenager.

Bumped into friends of friends in Castleton, Derbyshire. We're from Suffolk, they lived in Brighton.

We'd first met in York at a mutual friends housewarming.
One of the couple was born in the same tiny Suffolk village (around 20-30 households) as DH and their two families knew each other. Which is a pretty big coincidence as it is.

We met again at the engagement party, DH at the stag do, wedding, Christenings, etc so although they are friends of friends we've seen them a good number of times.

A few years after the last Christening we arrived in Castleton with our DC and saw them at the visitor centre with their DC.

It was nice to catch up again.

Several people:

A boy from my sons class in New York
A person I used to work with on an Island off the U.K.
Also someone I knew in Latin America

Whilst travelling in Mexico my then boyfriend bumped into an old school friend, who was traveling with a couple of girls. we all hung out for a couple of weeks, heading to the same places.

A few months later, back at uni and bumped into the two girls - turns out they were good friends with one of my uni mates.

A few years later, went to a party and bumped into them again. Totally separate friendship group, different city at the opposite end of the country. It turned out they’d been to school with my housemate and good friend.
So many random connections to the same two people!

ameliajanes · 08/04/2021 06:36

Not me but a colleague was doing some work at a remote research station and some tourists visited, one of them lived on the same road as me.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 08/04/2021 06:38

Many times. Old school friends, colleagues, family friends. It's a family joke that we can't go away without it happening.

Aurorie11 · 08/04/2021 06:39

A few

On holiday in south-west heard my name being called, v good friend of mine with her DH and kids. I knew she was on holiday but didn’t know where she thought we were on holiday in Wales. We were staying about 25 miles apart but picked the same small village to visit on the same day.
Also in SW but another county. There’s a woman I bump into locally, believe one of her DC was at the same nursery as mine years ago, don’t know her name but we recognise each other. Bumped into her on the southwest coastal footpath.
In Wales caught in a traffic jam going on holiday, looking ahead saw some cars in a lay-by, there was a car struggling to be let out, it was of my DS friends and parents

enjoyingscience · 08/04/2021 06:40

I bumped into a friend from university at Maccu piccu in Peru. He’d taken the Inca trail and done it properly, I’d cheated and taken the train 😆.

TheChosenTwo · 08/04/2021 06:40

Not me but my bil and his wife went on their honeymoon to Mauritius and his boss was in the hotel room next door Grin
He said he thought it was going to be a total disaster but they barely saw each other the whole time they were there.

ChangingStates · 08/04/2021 06:43

Yes, I bumped into someone I know through work, both live in London, on a small island off the coast of Bali. It felt totally bizarre!

Marmite27 · 08/04/2021 06:45

Yea, I bumped into my boss in a restaurant in Greece.

We bumped into MiL’s next door neighbour up a mountain in Austria.

Timper · 08/04/2021 06:46

Yes on numerous occasions. Twice in Mexico on different trips. One time was an excursion with hundreds of people that had you split into groups of 8 - ended up in a small boat with my husbands neighbour as a child who he hadn’t seen in years. Also bumped into friends in the Canaries a few times. Met people in Orlando and Vegas too.

FredaFox · 08/04/2021 06:47

Yes a girl I used to work with at Manchester airport, she was then on my flight to New York sat a row away from me and we bumped into each other several times in New York
Also went to Spain with my parents as a teenager and my friends cousin who lived up my street was on my flight

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2021 06:50

My Head of Year, in a gondola in Venice when I was 4 or 15.

Aposterhasnoname · 08/04/2021 06:54

Twice. The first time was a woman I worked with walking down the street in Zante. The second was a man and a woman I worked with collecting luggage in Santorini. They were both married, but not to each other! To say they were horrified by my cheery hello is an understatement.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2021 07:00

My brother’s best friend in Chamonix high street.

And in reverse - I started a new job a couple of weeks after getting back from holiday once. Someone we’d met on holiday worked there too!
