What age did your child start calling you mum?

My 15 year old still calls me mummy! So does my younger dc.

My 13 year old has called me mum for a couple of years now but still sometimes calls me mummy.

moomoogalicious · 06/04/2021 21:05

My teens still call me mummy and the oldest is 18! When they talk about me to other people its 'my mum'

aibutohavethisusername · 06/04/2021 21:07

About 4 years old.

SquirtleSquad · 06/04/2021 21:07

Our twins have just started calling DH dad instead of daddy but still call me mummy 9 times out of 10. They're 5 this month.

RedPandaMama · 06/04/2021 21:10

My 3.5yo calls me mummy most of the time when she wants my attention but says 'ok mum' or 'thanks mum' in response to things. It's adorable, she still has a little baby voice but sounds like she's trying to be grown up Grin

TheLetterZ · 06/04/2021 21:12

I from the North so find mummy a bit odd. However we have moved around a lot and ended up in Hampshire and mummy seems to have stuck. 17 and 15 boy and girl. Can’t see it going any where now.

MrsBungle · 06/04/2021 21:12

My 8yo is just starting to alternate between the two. My nearly 12 year old has called me mum consistently for about 18 months.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 06/04/2021 21:14

My 10 year old still calls me Mammy when we’re alone, which I love. I’m Mam in public or if she is talking about me.

piglet81 · 06/04/2021 21:15

About half and half with my 6yo. I quite like both tbh.

I remember feeling embarrassed that I still called my parents Mummy and Daddy, but not feeling I could switch to Mum and Dad because they’d be disappointed I was growing up! (Yes, I’m a bit deranged.)

Juanbablo · 06/04/2021 21:15

Dcs are 13, 11 and 7 and all call me mummy.

LemonRoses · 06/04/2021 21:17

Never

Biancadelrioisback · 06/04/2021 21:17

We're still mammy and daddy to a 4 year old

Babyfg · 06/04/2021 21:24

My four year old calls me mum unless he's sad the it's mummy. Tbh I don't mind either and it was he's own doing. My 3 year old still calls me muma like she did from quite small so it's not like he's copying older siblings!

FluffyPJs · 06/04/2021 21:24

My son decided when he was 7 that we were mum and dad, not mummy and daddy. He's never slipped up! He's 15 now - I get the odd 'woman' when he's being cheeky!

idontlikealdi · 06/04/2021 21:25

I'm still mamma to DTs when it's just us - mum when they are with their mates. They're 11.

WellTidy · 06/04/2021 21:28

Still mummy to 13yo DS but when he talks about me outside the family he says ‘my mum’. If he’s talking about me to say DH or GPs, it’s ‘mummy’.

Aimee1987 · 06/04/2021 21:28

DSS is 9 and flicks between dad and daddy. Usually daddy if he wants something😂

I work in a uni and overheard a student ( so late teens or early 20s) say "my daddy wouldn't buy me......." I cringed and then laughed my head off at the entitled behaviour

golddustwomen · 06/04/2021 21:28

6 and 3 and both call me mommy. Or mama sometimes from the 3 year old. The 6 year old has recently started referring to me as mom when talking to her friends though.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/04/2021 21:30

Mother dear. Dd14.

Used to be mum, and before that mummy which stopped in Year 7

HelenHywater · 06/04/2021 21:31

all of mine call me mummy apart from my 20 yo daughter. That includes my 22 year old son and my teens aged 13-18. I like it!

(When they're talking to their friends about me, they refer to me as mum).

SpringtimeSummertime · 06/04/2021 21:32

I have older teens and they all call us Mummy/Daddy at home and refer to us as My Mum/My Dad to their friends.

buckleten · 06/04/2021 21:33

Mine are 15 and 13 and it's still mummy and daddy to our faces, but my mum and my dad when talking about us to friends 🙂

dottiedaisee · 06/04/2021 21:33

Mine still call me Mummy and all in their twenties but refer to me as Mum .

Keepmekeeping · 06/04/2021 21:34

Ds1 from about 4 I think then ds2 never really called me mummy mostly mum with the occasional mama I think because his older brother called me mum.

GiantKitten · 06/04/2021 21:34

Mine are quite old (youngest is 28) so I don’t remember when it first changed, but I now get mum, mummy, mam, mother, mama, mater or my name Grin
